21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 16, 2018, 10:55:12 PM
although i did not jet sold 1 xmr , it is kinda scarry to see how fast it goes down... i really believe it will go back up again but on the other hand , we can go a lot lower ... 1000 by the summer , i dont know in this sentiment if we will get there...

Mainly it depends of how all crypto sphere will move.  If we will have Bitcoin at $5000 at summer would be quite stupid to expect Monero at $1000.  There is high possibility 2018 will be new 2014. And in general that would be most natural and most healthy. Because if 2018 would be just another 2017, then 2019 would be definitely an ARMAGEDON.

The question is, how low it will go and when is next best entry point?

None of us could predict exactly the flooring value and best time to reinvest. Bitcoin and Altcoins are speculative in nature to which its very hard to analyze on what will be the outcome at the end of the day. Professional forecasters almost comes close when giving out their opinions and since they couldn't predict the exact timing, many investors opt out not to rely with these predictions. I do think that it will be better if you'll just monitor the market manually by yourself instead on relying to other people. Most of the time, believing in your intuition works out well instead of a well designed investment plan.

Yes, my intuition said to me that we would reach a market cap of something near 1 trillion (there is a post saying that here) and then we would retract to 400 bi and if that doesn't hold back to 200 bi and then 100 bi, which is, again by my intuition, the floor... I expect to stop at 400bi, but 200 bi movement in a single day is really shocking! It shows the dark side of an unregulated market in which we are!

Monero was getting some momentum all signs were great...

Then entire crypto market drops 20%+

Gotta love crypto though in all seriousness its such a fickle market

Total Market Cap curve is on a down channel... I hope it does not go beyond 400bi

Monero is keeping USD value, that is great. I wonder how it will behave when the crypto market starts to show wear out signs...

Testing 600 bi market cap, if it doesn't resist we will test 400

Como se dará a distribuição total da recompensa da mineração ao longo do tempo? Qual é a curva?

https://cryptonotestarter.org/inner.html

Monero Hash rate is going crazy! Vega 64?
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 31, 2017, 11:37:20 PM
It really seems someone is trying to make it difficult to link crypto with fiat, maybe in an attempt to reduce crypto utility.

The way is by accepting crypto directly, each one of us should promote that, in our jobs, shops, consulting and even encourage it.

What I actually want to know if this "unknown" hash rate is more distributed or more concentrated on a bot network which seems distributed but is controlled by a single/few entities. I presume there are these bot networks given the past ransomeware spread. Maybe the first wave was "naive", locking computers and demanding BTC/XMR direct transfers, but now they just keeps silent and continue spreading and collecting the money through mining.

Either way they probably aren't really a threat to us. Only the overlords of the legacy banking system, governments, or the heads of other crypto currency projects might care to want to harm our network. The people who run these botnets are probably not one of these. Infact they are probably, at this point, invested in the networks success themselves unless they go and liquidate every penny of revenue.

Good point. I think this answer my question.

Can someone comment on the fact that Monero hash rate distribution is 52% "unknown"? Does that mean these 52% are actually solo mining?

I think it just means there's been a lot of new pools come online that aren't being checked by the pie chart you're looking at.

Not just new pools. But also old. If rdp would provide us link with this info and which pols are there I could find some other links with missing pools and add them. Every pool on their statistic page adds polls they want. Many avoid adding minergate.

I saw post the other day showing pie chart that I started with matplotlib a long time ago and was picked up by poolto.be and minexmr.com, and looks like minexmr is only one still running script (currently showing 55% unknown).

http://minexmr.com/pools.html

Looks like xinbya not even querying minergate...

From here https://monerohash.com/#network

You can see that
minergate    26500.00 KH/s  or 4.75%
dwarfpool.com  20308 khs or 3.64%

I did expect they have more hash power. It makes still half unknown. I bet there are more known pools outhere we did not listed.

Do u think xmr reaching 1000 usd is possible in 2018?

Try not to think in terms of USD but rather in BTC. If the cryptospace is a rollercoaster then all that matters is how close we're sitting to the front, irrespective of the nature of the track and its various loops.

Merry Christmas, Rangedriver!

Sure we trade against BTC, but how can one not keep an eye on $ value, since that is what we all will have to cash out into, ultimately.

Lambos aren't priced in BTC Wink

Unless we can have ones need for services and goods provided by whom wish to hold Moneroj... we must unlock that "feature" that is not so obvious in our roadmaps, which is the capability of using Monero directly to acquire goods and services and associate the value of Monero to the value of that goods and services. That is when the thing REALLY happens...

I think the main correction index now is total market cap... 1 trillion is a psychological number

Congratulations! $430+

Who said $425 by December would be impossible?
