21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Symbol on: March 22, 2014, 07:07:17 PM
Honestly, BTC is a perfectly fine symbol to represent Bitcoin.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I hear change coming... on: March 22, 2014, 06:43:19 PM
The Bitcoin ATMs will be very useful, the only issue is the giant fee that most charge. I know people personally that wont use a Bitcoin ATM because the generally higher fee than a regular fiat ATM. Although most people I talk to about Bitcoin have heard about it at some point, just mainly the negative things the news has portrayed about it. Then when I tell them what Bitcoin really is, they seem to think it actually is pretty awesome.

We just need to make it easier to buy (which the ATM's help with) and also make it more attractive than fiat.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Entered incorrect bitcoin wallet address did not add a 1 on the beginning on: March 22, 2014, 06:31:03 PM
If Bitcoins were already sent, then there is no way to get them back unless the person who received the coins gives them back. You should provide more information about what you are talking about. Most wallets, I believe, wont send coins if the address is detected as incorrectly formatted.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox announce finding of 200,000 lost BTC! on: March 22, 2014, 06:26:17 PM
Oh wow, so the question is, how many of these old wallets they forgot about hold coins. Sounds like a case of horrible accounting practices and/or horrible coding on their end.
25  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterflylabs legit? on: March 22, 2014, 06:17:26 PM
Avoid Butterflylabs, it will take many many many many many months before you get your rig, if ever. Same with most places like Butterfly labs, do some intense research of past customers and any scam accusations and you will see. Unless you have many tens of thousands of dollars to throw down on mining rigs, I suggest you simply buy some Bitcoin.
26  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VISA & MASTERCARD blocked Russians from accessing their money on: March 21, 2014, 11:07:20 PM
We do want governments to accept Bitcoin though, and to have the community actively endorsing Russians to break sanctions imposed by a lot of governments across the world would not help our ultimate goal to get Bitcoin widely adapted. Most people understand Bitcoin can be used just for this, but we as a community should avoid endorsing certain uses for Bitcoin to avoid negative hype.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: $640 good price to buy? on: March 21, 2014, 10:38:29 PM
In April Bitcoin will collapse, so no, it is not a good buy !

Not so sure about that, I think volatility will start picking up and the price will eventually start to slowly rise again.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin had existed in 1930... on: March 21, 2014, 10:36:52 PM
If Bitcoin had existed in 1930, then technology would have way surpassed what we have right now, assuming you meant that Bitcoin would be the same as it is today. Yea, it probably would have changed the world, but the internet also changed the world. That would have also meant that world events could have possibly been pushed back to earlier instead so the same thing could have happened, just at an earlier date.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin environment seems toxic right now... has it felt like this before? on: March 21, 2014, 10:32:40 PM
From what I have seen, there are waves of these feelings and events. It appears that all of the good talk and vibes about Bitcoin come, then bad news comes, then good news, and so on. Almost like the modern economy, just a lot more drastic at times.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai 400 Bitcoin ATMs in 2 weeks on: March 18, 2014, 09:11:06 PM
This looks pretty awesome I think we should stick to Bitcoin atm though, maybe Litecoin, but certainly not Dogecoin, its just another one of those coins like the ones that popped up back in April.
31  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshidice problem on: March 18, 2014, 08:34:44 PM
Never send funds from sites like that to satoshidice because your fear is likely correct. Only thing you can do now is contact that particular site and hope they are nice and refund you.
32  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transaction Malleability Reloaded on: March 18, 2014, 08:28:12 PM
If you find any possible code issues with Bitcoin, its best to bring it up to the Dev team. They might even reward you if its serious enough, who knows.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it BitCoin or Bitcoin? on: March 18, 2014, 08:24:21 PM
I always use Bitcoin, but I suppose its always up to preference, I just think its a bit easier to type out Bitcoin than BitCoin which requires an extra shift press for us lazy people.
34  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll.it - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: March 18, 2014, 08:09:10 PM
Oh man, haha people still haven't been paid out. Well at least you know the scammers in the contest really worked for nothing at this point haha.
35  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy Jerky with bitcoins in store on: March 17, 2014, 04:28:33 PM
Bitcoins are a currency, if people were not spending them, then there would be no reason to value them at such a high price. I wish I was in Austrailia, because I probably would be headed out to buy some jerky right now haha!
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: MAJOR BUG IN BITCOIN-QT! Payments on blockchain but not in Account on: March 17, 2014, 03:57:42 PM
Got to love how the guy titles the top of this as a major bug in Bitcoin-QT when he really had no idea what he was doing..
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Synthetic gold from LENR reactors could drive crypto to insane levels on: March 09, 2014, 07:39:34 PM
It is really unrealistic to think that gold could be synthetically mass produced to a point that would make it profitable to do so. Simply launching a space ship costs millions alone, not including the technology and hardware required to mine on an asteroid and then have return trips back to Earth. Maybe one day within a century we will send people to Mars and we may very well discover significant amounts of precious metals on Mars. I just wouldn't see any financial collapse due to any of these scenarios.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are losing Bitcoin.Bitcoin had its 15 minutes of fame We are losing our dream on: March 09, 2014, 07:29:25 PM
More and more people know about Bitcoin and it continues to spread. The issue is getting the negative connotation of Bitcoin gone, most people I know that I have spoken to about Bitcoin have heard bad things about it. Which most of those bad things were likely learned from sources that very little knowledge on how Bitcoin worked or what actually happened. Pretty much most people I have talked to and discussed the facts with, understand why Bitcoin has such potential and can actually be a positive thing.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers steal data from MtGox server and release it with Mark's reddit account. on: March 09, 2014, 06:25:29 PM
While these guys who released the files likely are doing it for the good of the community, there is that possibility that sensitive files are out there and you might want to assume that is the case and do all you can to protect yourself.
40  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 24 BTC stolen from my bitstamp account 2FA and email confirmation protected on: March 04, 2014, 06:42:04 PM
I'm going to have to say that it was likely a combination of things. Its possible that you downloaded a rouge app which when connected your phone to your computer to update your music or something, installed a keylogger on your computer. I would never rule out an inside job, but you also need to ensure your computer is virus and keylogger free before you access anything else that may have money on it.

Contact your phone company and see if you can get any records of texts sent from your device or received in case the thief somehow deleted it. It would seem that the person doing this has experience and is trying to cover up his/her tracks.
