It is possible if we applied a Fast Forier Transform (FFT) to the data since $450 the pattern would be clear (clearer) through that time.
Backing-up the observation by strong math is of course the only way. However, I am not enabled to accomplish this at this time. Not sure if I want to do it anyway. If we were able to "prove" this with some analysis then who knows how far that info would go. "Bitcoin Price Manipulation On Largest US Exchange" -> Crash. I don't think so. In normal markets bots are omnipresent, too. Even larger swings (artificial) can help determine the best market price imho. Reporters should get the hint, that this is a bot dominated domain, as every exchange lists its API documentation. However, as you shared your observation in the best manner of science, many users trying to exploit that knowledge should smooth it out or render it useless - I suppose. (Without doing the math, I am forced to explain it as being the human factor: Perceiving patterns in chaos comes to mind).

Here is a rather sloppy illustration of the algorithm trading pattern, but it gets the point across.
IMG
The circle in the lower left shows to clear consecutive repetitions. After this there is a lot of buying and then the pattern resumes clearly in the upper right circle once the "external" buying/selling volume dies off.
Good work, vigil! Thanks. People on here were giving me sh*t for suggesting this earlier. I can see that pattern repeating after the correction down to 475 earlier. Before that I am not able to see it. Have you observed more patterns? IIRC, the pattern you observed even has a name in TA. That is when the pattern started, I think. I haven't at the data previous to that, so I can't say I have observed any other patterns. What is TA? Trading algorithm? TA = Technical Analysis http://i.investopedia.com/inv/articles/site/typesofshoulders.gifBut the frequency with which you observed this pattern baffles me. Maybe someone with years of experience in chart-reading could share his/her expertise (CMMPro?). However, as libraries for detecting these patterns exist, it is possible to program a bot who produces them.

MtGox bot, I command you: drop hard to 1030.5, then go back to 1080+, NOW.

The price will drop tomorrow because there are no trading fees. The exchanges participating in bitcoin black friday announced yesterday they will not charge fees. This means that buyers money will not arrive until monday or tuesday, so buyers cannot take advantage of the no-fee trading.
This will let the sellers cash out without paying the trading fees. So the price is set to go down tomorrow, bet on it.
Serious buyers, who use BTC for purchasing should replenish their stack immediately. After all the goal is turning fiat to btc.

How is BTC staying at 936 - stinks - glad I have no coins there (but wish I had fiat!)
That price is being manipulated lower to keep the other alts looking stronger. 500 btc buy would take that exchange past 1000 As I understand it, btce-prices are lower, as: - it is eastern europe based without a public figure -> risk of vanishing
- you can actually withdraw funds -> people withraw there at a loss
- folks sell quickly, as every second eyeballing the trollbox equals -10 IQ (some might up it though)

No problem, in North America at least, there has come a tradition of sales on this day and it is one of the busiest shopping days of the year in preparation for the Abrahamic consumption orgy of Christmas
Do you think the black-friday event could mainstream Bitcoin, so that no crash occurs? Edit: I read about this idea somewhere. No. For one, because "the mainsteam" will be shopping in stores. And for two, because spending bitcoins usually results in a market sell. Interesting point on the īmarket sell'. Thank you.

the last Friday in November is generally regarded as the day whereabouts retailers will have covered all their operating expenses for the year. In book keeping language they are "in the black" and any remaining sales for the year will be profit. Hence "black Friday" Ah, I see. Thank you very much jojo69. I associated other things with this name.
