21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profit on: February 25, 2014, 11:15:58 PM
is it more profitable to check to see what is more profitable that day and mine that coin?

Sometimes, that's why middlecoin.com do it and have 15Ghash mining at their pool despite the 4% fee.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BETARIGS.COM - Cryptocurrency cloud mining - 1000 online rigs! on: February 21, 2014, 06:36:45 AM
Hi There...I have good question for you.. If I RENT a RIG then HOW to direct it to my pc at home for SOLO mining ? IS it possible ?

Clearly
I have NO GPU at that pc..Lets say it is a simple laptop.
I have Wallet/Client of an ALT coin ONLINE at that simple laptop

Any ideas... Roll Eyes

Might have to setup your own pool.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Arctic F12 or F14 on: January 31, 2014, 12:38:18 PM
Just wondering which would be better, they would be pushing air inwards and downwards.

I run BTX style, case 'upside down' with PSU at bottom and fan intakes facing upwards and will be cutting two holes in the old bottom of the case for two fans for my new rig. The f14's have less blades, which push more air?

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will four Sapphire R9 290x cards run alright on a 1000w EGVA platinum rated psu? on: January 29, 2014, 07:36:21 PM
You might be ok with three but to be on the safe side you should underclock your CPU and disable all but one core. PSU failures are not fun. It's impossible to put the magic blue smoke back into fried components and once it's gone they're dead.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it safe to use a PSU to power cards from 2 different rigs? on: January 29, 2014, 07:32:22 PM
Here is the situation:

I have 2 rigs with 3 7950s on each of them and 2 Corsair CX750 PSUs. The first rig is running perfectly with the first PSU (crashes sometimes but very seldom) but on the second one I can't run more than 2 cards at a time. If I plug in the 3rd one the system crashes after a few minutes of mining (and I can't turn it on again until I have turned off the PSU and waited for some time).

I'm thinking about getting a 3rd CX750 to power one card from each rig to take some work away from the other 2 PSUs, but I'm not sure if this can be done safely. My interpretation is that if I power the risers and the cards with the 3rd PSU (so they don't draw any energy from the other PSUs) there won't be any electrical connection between the two rigs. But of course I might be missing something. I'm using 30cm powered risers for all cards.

Very electrically risky, just get a 1000w PSU.
26  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN][Worldwide] Dualminer USB ASIC sha/scrypt miner $85 on: January 28, 2014, 10:27:09 PM
Where are you getting these from!? That pic was posted before in what seemed to be debunked as a scam thread.
27  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: iMine.org.uk - New e-shop selling mining hardware! on: January 26, 2014, 06:03:48 PM
we are a small team, and an unregistered company

Then I doubt it is legal for you to be trading, whether with bitcoin or not.

and we have stated the longer shipping times to cover international orders..  We appreciate due to the nature of the business, we could appear to be a scam but would like to stress, we are legitimate. (We'd appreciate if our past customers would back us up!)

This does nothing to encourage me to trust you.

I would like to stress, I am legitimate, trust me Wink

*Hey guys have you got any old bitcointalk accounts laying around? We just need to to comment on something a min...*

"Richard Curry

It calculates how much the coin will go down and when it will happen.

30  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ice Fury (nano fury) support thread. on: January 23, 2014, 01:56:30 AM
All that is required is usb 3.0 and osc bit 55 to max them.

I'll be honest, I'm half afraid to overclock them... they're running at/above 3GH/s each, with an HW Error % BELOW 1%... I think I'll um... just not even bother with overclocking Grin great job man!

Wow that's great, you must be storing them in a freezer so that they don't melt! Cheesy

Not really, a USB port is only speced to supply 2.5w
31  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: antminer u1 uk only on: January 21, 2014, 03:18:54 PM
Sorry, but this is very suspicious.
You are denying paypal AND escrow, claiming you are trustworthy (JUNIOR MEMBER).

This appears to be a scam like the rest of people who say 'no escrow'.

I'm not using paypal because I don't want to get scammed. Simple as.

Sent recorded and you can't. The risk is when selling BTC for paypal, physical stuff is fine. Bank transfer is just opening up the customer to be scammed and that's why no-one will want to buy from you.
32  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: iMine.org.uk - New e-shop selling mining hardware! on: January 21, 2014, 02:39:10 PM
What about the points made about you using the cheapest possible domain, for the shortest amount of time and hiding your real registration details?

Other important questions; are you a registered business; sole trader or LLC? If so what's your VAT number?

And why do you claim a shipping time of 2-3 weeks? Royal Mail take a maximum of 7 days and offer special delivery which is pretty much guaranteed within 24 hours.

Looks like it could easily be a scam, sorry to doubt you but you've gotta understand most of us ain't daft or gullible.
33  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Health concerns Air quality in mining room on: January 20, 2014, 01:10:16 AM
The sore throat is 'dry air'

The higher the temperature of air, the more water vapour it can hold. Therefore if you increase the temperature without increasing the amount of water vapour in the room the overall humidity goes down and things in the room, like your throat, start to dry.
34  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Prospero x-1 already for sale? scam? on: January 20, 2014, 01:06:54 AM
The bottom of the page says: Group buys: Group buys are not permitted. We will cancel any order that we discover that is a group buy and will refund the payment minus 10% that we will charge for our time wasted in this matter. By placing an order for this item you agree with the above.

This is a PRE-ORDER for Batch 2, available for dispatch at end of April 2014

Exactly the same as the black arrow site.

Regardless it's probably a scam.

35  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Storage Crate Issues?? on: January 20, 2014, 01:03:56 AM
Just hot glue it. For a second I thought newegg sold crates.

GPUs through out heat - won't that melt the hot glue?

Nah

Actually yes it can, and even if it doesn't melt it will significantly weaken.

Yeah, there's little possibility in my opinion that Scrypt ASIC's will arrive anytime soon.

Yeah no possibly at all...

I dont care if an admin has my email address I care if a user has it.

Any user buying from you through paypal would also have it...
38  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: January 18, 2014, 07:53:05 PM
since GPU mining for scrypt coins isn't bitcoin, aren't posts here about it in the wrong place? shouldn't they be posted in the altcoins section? So of course GPU mining is looked down on. it is either unprofitable or being talked about in the wrong place. (Bitcoin Snob here)

Mining on an auto-exchanging scrypt multipool, I get daily payouts in Bitcoin.  Roll Eyes
So I was not really aware that I am technically not a Bitcoin miner any more, until you pointed it out.  Cry
Sniff, sob, cry...

UPDATE: But as Beastlymac observed, still a mining rig, right ?

It is indeed a mining rig, the alt forum is just too much of a shitstorm of clonecoins and worthlesscoins to have a meaningful discussion of hardware there.

When I started getting hardware errors and posted in this subforum about it my thread got moved and had an argument with a mod via PM and he ended up telling me to repost it in this forum with mhs listed instead of khs...
39  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: iMine.org.uk - New e-shop selling mining hardware! on: January 18, 2014, 11:45:33 AM
Prices seem good but the lack of fiat payment and bug use of a basic webs.com website make me cautious.

Also why have you chosen one of the cheapest domain types and only registered for a year, also whois obscured you real details using 'crazy-domains?

Where in the UK are you based? Any chance of collecting a miner?
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: January 18, 2014, 11:20:15 AM
Anyway, my point was that BKK made a good impression from the start. People who lost money should not just blame BKK, but also those scumbags who made posts like "can't wait to start selling these".

Someone designing open source money printing machines should probably see that coming, not that it was truly open source with the psuedo-DRM firmware bkk wanted to have so he could get paid.
