21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin price decreased too much? on: January 16, 2018, 03:08:34 PM
There looks like no very bad news in the market. The only reason I think is it already increased a lot and after some failed trials to breakthrough, now it's time to adjust.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON (TRX) Scam on: January 15, 2018, 09:46:10 AM
If the CEO himself sold most of the tokens, then we can hardly say that it's not a scam.
23  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How will Lightning Network be encouraged to use? on: January 14, 2018, 03:17:20 AM
In order to run smoothly, there need several big players in the network, acting like a hub to connect the individuals. The big player needs to have enough funds as the payment channels require to lock the currency. That needs a long time to establish.
24  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Having fun with crypto. on: January 10, 2018, 04:35:49 AM
Support you, dude Grin If you can have a small innovation, the marcketcap will be not that small.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TRIG] TRIG Token - Blocksafe Foundation on: January 09, 2018, 02:08:54 AM
That's nice to go public. The delisting from bittrex will not impact TRIG a lot.
26  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Security Issue with Electrum Wallet on: January 08, 2018, 01:00:20 PM
That is not entirely correct. They released 3.0.4 which disabled the RPC server vulnerability so it is safe to use. The 3.0.5 is a fix rather than just disabling. Either version means you are safe. The rushed 3.0.4 to get a safe version available as soon as possible they didn't discover "the bug wasn't completely fixed in it", they always knew that they would then release the full fix later.
It wasn't fixed. Even though CORS is disabled, the vulnerability can still be exploited by using POST request. It's just made more difficult for websites to exploit but it's still possible. 3.0.4 disables the ability to trigger a CORS preflight but didn't disable JsonRPC. 3.0.5 disabled JSONRPC commands.

So now 3.0.5 completely fixed the problem? BTW, is the Android wallet required to upgrade also?
27  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can we the Crypto Residence make a sort of Visa service? on: January 08, 2018, 12:48:54 PM
Yes you can. Right now the most shops still don't support crypto, so the service should firstly exchange the crypto into fiat and deposit into the card, then pay using the card.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] DeepONION ⚡ TOR ⚡ DeepVault 🚀 Cryptopia 🚀 Airdrop 26/40 New Thread 🚀 on: January 06, 2018, 09:45:42 AM
It's definitely a shame that Crypto-Rainbows account was broken into, but I am somewhat let down by the idea of this forum's back end not allowing the re-administration of established threads. I understand the BTCtalk Admins weren't responsive initially, and we had to take some steps for the community but in the interim time there hasn't been any way to set Crypto-Rainbow's new account as the Admin of the original thread, or merge the content? It really has to be "abandoned"? Just seems so unorganized to me, from a site that has become so regimented and honed at dealing with the hordes.

And how is 2FAC not an option for moderator level accounts at least?

Agreed. Moderator should take a look at this. If most of the people can support a truth, then it should be handled properly.

Community, the official whitepaper alpha V1.0 was released. That's really an awesome news. Read it and you will see how comprehensive it is!

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: January 02, 2018, 01:31:03 PM
Recently GNT's price is steady rising. Looks like it will have some potential to burst...
31  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Difference between SegWit addresses on: December 31, 2017, 03:30:55 AM
1) What are these Segwit Addresses?
  • There are 2 different Segwit address formats. They are P2SH (starting with a "3") and bech32 (starting "bc1")
  • P2SH can be sent to by people using older Bitcoin software with no Segwit support. This supports backwards compatibility
  • People sending from newer Bitcoin software that have Segwit and bech32 can send to the new address type that starts "bc1"
  • People sending from newer Bitcoin software that have no Segwit probably cannot send to the new address type that starts "bc1"

So, if people send you BTC from old software, give them the Segwit addresses that start with "3". If people send you BTC using new Segwit Bitcoin software, give them the Segwit addresses that start with "bc1".

If you don't know if someone has the newer bech32 software or not, there's no need to worry, their software will simply refuse to send the transaction, so no harm can be done.

2) How are these different from normal Addresses?

  • You won't get the Segwit fee reduction unless you spend from one of these addresses
  • The addresses starting "3" are normal addresses. They already exist in the Bitcoin blockchain now. The difference is that the Bitcoin script permits a wide variety of options, in this case, using Segwit in a way that old Bitcoin software can handle (obviously old software has no clue what Segwit is, it didn't exist back then, this method works around that)
  • The addresses starting "bc1" are not normal addresses. They are brand new, and only work with Segwit
  • With addresses starting "bc1", it doesn't matter if you USE UPPER CASE. or if you use lower case. bc1bech32segwitaddressescanbeupperorlowercase is the same address as BC1BECH32SEGWITADDRESSESCANBEUPPERORLOWERCASE, neither your wallet software or the blockchain will care

3) How are the fees low compared to other addresses?

There are no guarantees. Bitcoin isn't like going to Walmart (where a price is the only price you can get), it's like going to an auction house. The miners control whose transactions they include in blocks, and they can do it any way they like, even totally crazy ways that lose them money.

But, you could expect to pay fees of ~50% less than non-Segwit transactions, for a regular transaction where you pay from just one address to one address (with one change address). Why? Sort of complicated, but I can explain if you like.

4) If i upgrade from 2.9.3 to 3.0 will i have old addresses or it will swipe them?

No. Old addresses can exist alongside Segwit addresses in the same wallet.

If you're nervous about this, just use a new wallet for all Segwit transactions. But Electrum's approach to wallet specs is flexible enough to allow it, and also the standard way of doing it, it has alot of fail safety built into the design. It should be fine (Disclaimer: I don't use Electrum wallet)
That's really clear and helpful. Your explanation is awesome.

I think we should update the thread subject now. We also have the KuCoin exchange already.
33  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network VS SegWit2Mb(S2X) on: December 30, 2017, 02:23:12 AM
Which one will be the solution to the bitcoin scalability problem (Dream of instant payments with low fees)?

Lightning Network: off-chain protocol

It would feature a P2P system for making micropayments of digital cryptocurrency through a scale-free network of bidirectional payment channels without delegating custody of funds or trust to third parties.[1]

SegWit2x: block size limit
was a failed contentious hardfork outlined in the New York Agreement that intended to double the block size limit. The hardfork has been denounced as an attempt made by CEOs and owners of large Bitcoin businesses to introduce changes to the currency's protocol and development cycle with ulterior motives.[2]

Of course it's LN, the off-chain solution. Block size limit will always be reached while the transactions increase. But the ASIC company will not like the LN solution because that will reduce their profit.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR ⚡ DeepVault ⚡ Cryptopia 🚀 Airdrop 24/40 🚀 WE DOMINATE! on: December 27, 2017, 01:04:29 AM
Very interesting, deeponion has the largest volume of trade on KuCoin exchange, about 53% of all deeponion trades.
And also price is highest on KuCoin exchange.
With even more exchanges in circulation for deeponion price can easly skyrocket  Smiley
Coin moves definitely in the right direction and in a couple of years it will surely be one of the strongest.

Seems that Kucoin is becoming our main trading platform (Cryptopia is now back on 55% vs. 45% on Kucoin, but the trend is obvious). It was very fast, just a few days after listing. Not sure about the exact reason, but I see that Kucoin is growing quite fast in terms of their overall trading volumes, they are approaching top 40 exchanges. Keeping this growth, it will not take a long time to surpass Cryptopia (which is btw not doing bad at all and is in top 30).
Does anyone know the fees for Bitcoin on Kucoin? I mainly use Cryptopia now because of DeepOnion, but since DeepOnion is now listed on Kucoin, if the Bitcoin fees are less than Cryptopia, I could do my business there. The Bitcoin fees on Cryptopia are ginormous.

Good question, made me check the fees both on Kucoin and Cryptopia as I became curious as well Smiley If you meant BTC withdrawal fee, then Kucoin has 0.0005 BTC and Cryptopia 0.0019 BTC. Trading fees are 0.1% on Kucoin and 0.2% on Cryptopia.

For more details, you can check the links below, but I think that the winner in terms of fees is obvious Wink

Kucoin definitely is a better choice. But if you want to buy onion, right now the price on kucoin is higher than cryptopia.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can blockchain replace supermarkets? on: December 25, 2017, 11:23:44 PM
It will not replace the supermarket but will reshape it. It will facilitate the logistics. But people still need a place where can buy anything so they don't need to visit multiple places in order to fulfill the fridge.
36  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: what Programming language Should I use for new Crypto coin on: December 25, 2017, 11:09:42 PM
Is C#(csharp) good for blockchain programming?
As far as I know, NEO is built on top of .NET framework and most of the code is written by C#, and it's running pretty well. But I also think probably we can use GO.

哥们,这个健康的结论有点下的太早了哦,打脸了哦  Wink
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What caused all the price drops? on: December 24, 2017, 03:27:17 AM
The only reason is they already rose a lot. When crowd rushed in, it's the time for big whale to sale.
40  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network vs Bitcoin cash on: December 23, 2017, 04:55:38 AM
LN is the future. Many small transactions don't need to be on the chain. No matter how big the block is, increasing block size is not scalable.
