Not sure about a wedding gift just because if they didn't know anything about the space then they might not understand the value?  But I did give my dad some bitcoin (only about $20) for part of his 70th birthday present recently, although I'm keeping it in a wallet for him as he doesn't understand a thing about it!  But he will definitely thank me when it's worth hundreds of thousands on his 80th birthday ;-)

In terms of this forum I think you need 30 posts before your rank goes up, there's a thread about it on the main page I'm sure.  As for social media I don't think they have any impact here?  Also not sure how either of those will help you earn but best of luck with whatever it is that you are doing!

No problem at all - and I understand the concern behind the question.  It's a very common thing just now for ideas and projects that have no need for blockchain to be rushing towards blockchain tech just so they can hold an ICO.  that's definitely something we are aware of and want to avoid in all of the projects that we will be working with.

But I really appreciate your input as it helps us become better at defining the concept every time that we explain it in a different context

Thank you very much!  Yes I've been based in the Middle East region for over 2 years now working with start up companies to help them expand here, and the recent advancements in Dubai and the plans that they have for the future are certainly more advanced than anything going on in the UK and the US markets at present.  It also has the benefit of having a extremely dynamic and forward thinking leader and when it comes to eventual regulation and adoption I think that will make all the difference.  In the next few years I see Dubai being cited alongside Switzerland and Singapore as the most crypto friendly hubs to do business.  And we're just really excited to be a part of that

totally agree - I think the bigger payoff though is in holding for the long term. Give it even until this time next year and I think we will be well in to the 5 figure values.  At least it's never boring!

This is an interesting point to consider - but with so many active time zones in this thread I think the most important thing is to plan consistent and regular messages. that way you get the best chance of your post being noticed regardless of what time people log on.  the same is true of your social media campaign

Also make sure you pick a time when you have plenty of time set aside straight after the announcement to answer any relevant and immediate questions as this is where you can build real momentum

Also the reason for the pre sale was not just for the raise of initial early stage investment, it was also to involve the expertise of the community in the areas of development and marketing as in the first post, so as this information is coming quite early, it's more about getting some early adopters on board.  But I just want to put people's minds at rest that definitely more information is coming shortly and I hope it's a project of real benefit and interest to the next wave of blockchain startups and investors 

Our team's background previously was within start up expansion and venture capital so over the last few months we have been expanding our team both in Dubai and internationally, and working to ensure that we have the right breadth of knowledge in the financial applications of blockchain, regtech and platform and token development

More of that information will all be contained in the white paper - which will be available within the next few days and posted on the website.  We are using escrow for all the pre sale and pre ICO investments yes and working with an experienced escrow agent for that.

so true ... it must have been hard back then to even imagine how much would have changed in ten years.  Just think what another ten is going to do!

So at the moment we already work with small companies and start ups and bring them out to the Middle East.  We help them raise financing, find incubators and accelerators to work from etc and support them with their growth.  Dubai in particular has a huge focus on blockchain at the moment as they have the goal of having all relevant operations on blockchain by 2020.  So there are great opportunities here for companies like that to come out and operate in the space, hence why we started looking to help these types of companies in particular.  We want to make it easier for them and provide support and investment but also help them fit within the regulatory changes that will be coming up in the area.

By putting our own fund on blockchain the reason behind that is to make the financial information behind VC investing more transparent - there's a few funds in the US just now doing successful raises through crypto but we want to take it one step further and develop a community token for the start ups and the blockchain start up community in Dubai.  We intend to be able to support and invest in the next wave of start ups but at the same time have increased opportunities for the individual token owners to be able to also invest their tokens in the pool of start ups that we have coming through.  Gaining wider audience for the pipeline, helping them gain momentum and raise the right level of investing and also making sure that anything they are building is likely to be in line with any potential regulation changes over the next few years in the region.

Hey - no absolutely you're entitled to your opinion and that's one reason for getting the project out so early - to try and build a good relationship with the community as it was mostly tech companies that we were working with before and the crypto and blockchain space is slightly different.  Spotting scams is important and I myself am working with several key people to ensure that the content and documentation we are putting out for the white paper, and the way we run the ICO is in line with the developing industry standards coming out of Switzerland and the US

It's hard to be able to put your mind at rest more than that at this stage but I would appreciate if you follow the thread as we release more information and keep in touch as I would be happy to address any concerns.  Re the website we are originally UK based so the spelling mistakes may be due to UK spelling but ill go have a look just now and double check.  Like I posted above though this is the site for our consulting company so we are developing the updated one as we speak. 

as for sounding like a friendly woman I'm afraid I will just need to take the hit on that one as that's exactly what I am - but don't worry I'm sure a few more months in the crypto forums and I'll be more miserable ;-)

Amazing - as someone late to the bitcoin party it's so interesting to go back and see posts from that time.  It must have been such a great time to be in the community

I agree Kraken is a good exchange for this and allows you to buy with a UK card. 

There are also a lot of people on the UK on localbitcoins - some of them actually accept credit card or you could do ATM deposit

Hey thanks for the feedback and you're totally right -  that's the website for our current company which is a consulting company that's been working helping businesses expand to the Middle East.  It totally needs work but we have been focusing on the launch of the new website which will tie in with the new Rock Ventures platform.  This is always the risk of exposing the idea to the community too early, but that's exactly why we wanted to offer a large discount to try and get some keen early adopters on side.  We did this with the local Dubai community first and have great interaction with the groups here and are now just expanding this wider.

Hope that helps, please keep an eye on all the updates and don't worry by the time we officially launch our pre-ICO on the 1st October and the ICO on the 15th October I promise the website will be much better ;-)

What we do have already though is a pipeline of international companies that are looking to come to Dubai that we know this fund can be useful for and help them make the next stage, so we definitely need to do a better job of getting that across,

this post is so inspiring thanks for sharing!  You're totally right there will always be opportunity - I remember thinking I had missed the property craze in 2007 and so bought a development opportunity right before the crash, then same with my last business we aligned ourselves with an industry trend and it didn't work out too well!

The thing is bitcoin is not just a trend or a fad it's a real game changer and I think this still feels like we are right at the beginning and everyone is learning as we go.  I feel really privileged to be part of it so early and it's great to see thriving communities like this as well.
