Has anyone else been getting the silent treatment from Baikal?

I sent them multiple emails over the last couple weeks regarding purchasing units and I haven't heard anything back. Even asked friends to send them email thinking my email may have been blacklisted for some reason. Nothing. I know some people are buying equipment just to resell online, but I'm trying to actually run a farm.

Hi guys,
I have just received the invoice from Baikal for X10.
How do i recognize it's genuine factory and not a scam?

I'm sure a more senior member can chime in here, but this is the payment info I received from Baikal previously for wire transfer:

   USD account number: 451-906-071-4
   Beneficiary: VITCORE HOLDINGS LIMITED
   Ajeltake Road, Ajeltake Island, Majuro
   Tel: 692 247 3018
   Fax: 692 247 3017

   Bank Details:
Bank Name: United Overseas Bank Limited
   Branch Name: UOB Main
Branch Address: 80 Raffles Place UOB Plaza
   1 Singapore 048624

   Bank Code: 7375
   Swift Code: UOVBSGSG
   Branch Code: 001. Note:

There's one other bank account they've used (can't remember details, try forum search) so don't panic if these details don't match what they sent.

If anyone has an X10 and wouldn't mind granting me temporary access to it -- i'd appreciate it.

I'm building a coin hopping pool server and I'd like to make a custom image for X10 miners so that it automatically switches between the most profitable algo. I'm also curious if by deciphering the code if I could potentially unlock the ability to multi-mine. The X10 miner should be able to mine say qubit and groestlcoin (GRS) at the same time. If they had placed a couple additional SHA engines it would be possible to mine almost all of these algo simultaneously.

Baikal miners use an FPGA, what makes you think they could run two algo's simultaneously?
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: January 17, 2018, 04:08:38 PM

Overclock Baikal X10 to 400mhz possible ?

That's what I'm thinking. Don't have it working yet. Will need a custom sgminer build.

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: January 17, 2018, 03:17:30 AM
have tried to mine lbry with x10 with giant b image all share discarded Sad

Did you use a custom sgminer?

no just the stock image

but it recognize the board, i only plug one board to avoid that others get damaged
i get a hashrate of ~13 ghs which fits to the data sheet 3*~13=40ghs for lbry

i think the is a line of code which avoid mining

Hi,

Restore the X10 image on the X10 SD card
Boot the X10
Rename folder /opt/scripta to /opt/scripta2 on the X10
Copy folder /opt/scripta from Giant B image to X10 (with winscp)
Reboot X10
And try lbry again ...
This will run X10 image with scripta Giant B miner  Wink
Thank you very much for yours tests

Tl;dr: Tried it, couldn't get it mining.

Replaced the scripta folder with the one from the giant B, booted, and the miner never seemed to connect to the hash boards. The web interface also showed the default GB pool configs, but the algorithms were blank and the dropdown menus only had options for the Gx10 algos.

Also replaced the var/www folder so the image would have the scripta and web interface from GB but the rest of the image was Gx10. This let me select the GB algos with the GB default pools, but the miner never connected to the hash boards.

Tried restoring the GB image and the miner connects to pools and hash boards, but all shares are discarded. Haven't gotten into the sgminer logs yet to see if I can diagnose why it's rejecting all shares.

The most interesting thing I think is that with the default GB image, the FPGA clocks from 300MHz up to 400MHz. This means that the sgminer build is setting clock speed somehow and the STMicro controller is just interpreting an instruction set from sgminer to the FPGA chips.

I tried the same thing and got the same result. All shares discarded. Interestingly, it does up the clock speed of the chips to 400MHz, so this offers some hope for the overclocking potential.

If anyone has access to a Giant B and is willing to run a few commands on it for firmware testing, please let me know.

Hi Guys. Could any of you please check if you have CE label on the x10 case?

There are no labels on the case. What country are you shipping to?

I was able to get a successful recovery with DiskInternals Linux Recovery. There's a significant amount of info in there...

Did you get a chance to compile it and does it match the sgminer on the x10?

Anywho, seeing that log on the recovery files of blakecoin share submitted and accepted, I am guessing that the Baikal Giant B is the same as the Baikal x10, just with different firmwares for different algorithms. Repackaged and re-programed with a $3k+ markup compared to the x10, smart company/choice. So I am assuming now that the 2 new algos is 2 of the algos on Giant B, but they are waiting for the Giant B to be released first before they release the updated firmware for the X10, so the difficulty don't shoot up before they can sell the Giant B.

Haven't gotten a successful recompile yet. My Linux skills aren't great... Just hoping to help someone who has better software skills!

Guys, need some help

I was digging the filesystems and i found the command history where they compile sgminer and delete the source. I'm now trying to recover the deleted files using Photorec, i could recover more than 10k files and i found many lines like this :

f2324728.txt:[14:01:58] Submitting share 6ee85517 to blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:01:58] Accepted 6ee85517 Diff 2.308/2.000 BKLU 1 at blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:03] Submitting share 27ae407c to blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:03] Submitting share 46243b3e to blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:03] Accepted 27ae407c Diff 6.451/2.000 BKLU 0 at blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:03] Accepted 46243b3e Diff 3.650/2.000 BKLU 0 at blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:05] Submitting share 46994046 to blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca
f2324728.txt:[14:02:05] Accepted 46994046 Diff 3.626/2.000 BKLU 7 at blakecoin.mine.zpool.ca

the problem is the photorec recovers the file with different filename like:
f0755216.txt  f0762000.gz   f0767984.txt   f0769472.h     f0770816.c  f0771216.h  f0771712.c     f0786984.txt  f0788464.h    f0808320.elf   f0819912.txt  f0820216.txt   f0820496.txt
Its very difficult to figure out whats the original file name.
I need the original /home/baikal/sgminer folder and contents

The reason i'm looking for the original filenames and folders is because if i have the sgminer source folder i can compile with all algos and check one by one if it works. sgmine sources i can download from github but there is a driver file driver-baikal.h and possible more baikal files that i cand find anywhere.

Do you guys know how to recover deleted files with original folder and filenames? Any software or if you have chance try to recover the deleted files and se if we can recover the entire folder

I found something very interesting while poking around the x10 file structures.

I found these 2 lines:

Code:
poolAdd({url:'stratum+tcp://nist5.mine.zpool.ca:3833',pass:'x11=1,quark=1,qubit=1,groestl=1,nist5=1',priority:'6',algo:'nist5',extranonce:true});
poolAdd({url:'stratum+tcp://groestl.mine.zpool.ca:5333',pass:'x11=1,quark=1,qubit=1,groestl=1,nist5=1',priority:'5',algo:'groestl',extranonce:true});

So I am guessing either the 2 new algos are nist5 and groestl, or they originally had nist5 and groestl and decided to change the algos to skein and myr-groestl.

I also found this line:
Code:
sudo mv sgminer_300MHz_fix_NoHW  /opt/scripta/bin/sgminer

So I am assuming they have their own custom sgminer with a fixed clock rate so there goes the overclocking dream.

Guess someone at Baikal didn't remove all their traces. Now I wonder how would we get nist5 and groestl back on there. LOL.

good work man
nist5 and groestl makes perfect sense.

dont know any nist5 coins, but this will also be very power efficient.
groestl will be slower i guess, but very profitable-
maybe too profitable to release anytime soon..

I don't know about recovering filenames... but I'd be willing to help try to sift through those recovered files for the missing custom ones. For starters, do a full text search on them for the string 'baikal' and look at those files first.

If I have some time tonight, I will try to recover some as well. Wast his done on the newly released sd image, or the original one that came with the x10?

I was able to get a successful recovery with DiskInternals Linux Recovery. There's a significant amount of info in there...

BLINKING BLUE LIGHT FIX

I may have just stumbled on a fix for the blinking blue light issue. I haven't had a problem with it until last night. I restored one of my miners' settings from a backup and forgot to change the username under the pool configs, so two of my machines were hashing on the same pool with the same username. Got the blinking blue light. Reset the machines to have different usernames and everything has been working fine. This was mining on idcray-xvg pool, haven't observed the issue with other pools.

Hope this helps someone!

Update: just tried switching to MPH and got blinking blue on every machine. Checked the "Extranonce" box and did a power cycle, and so far, so good. Will post again if I continue to get errors on MPH.

Update2: I've had the miners go down several times on MPH, always when switching to the Skein algo. Qubit/Myr-Groestl seem to switch fine. Once the miners are running on Skein, it seems stable, just switching over causes a problem. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the miner going from 10GH/s down to 5GH/s?

Hi,

How to pay now?
Can't order on site anymore.
You told to wait.

I am on the order list at previous page.

How many of you have X10 running stably without babysitting?

The X10 runs for 24 hours and after that it gives surprise downtime by going inaccessible anytime and cause loss of mining hours.

Tried resetting the Orange PI but it remains unchanged.

Anyone able to successfully resolve it?

Thanks.

I have 4 running very stable on myr-groestl. Only settings changed are 50% fan speed and password. Have not tried other algos for a significant period of time yet.

Try using a different power supply to make sure the one on that miner isn't going bad, and make sure the miner has enough fresh air.

Greetings!  Cheesy

A new member here, and my very first post.  Roll Eyes

Would like to join the group buy.

Question; when is payment due date and what is the payment method do you accept other than Bitcoin and wire transfer?
Bittawmart does accept CC payment but his offer is $501 higher than this group buy price.

Also from your website;

Important Notice : This price is only for Group Buy  (Ship from Jan 25-30)

then...

Important Note : ***This is pre order , ship on Jan 15-20th , 2018 .

so which one is correct?
Jan 15-20 would be correct. But they will be shipped from Baikal so that is an estimate. If you are a US customer they will be shipped in bulk to our US base. They will be shipped from there if you live in the US. I will add you in the group buy.

Just found this thread. Are there still places open?

If so, put me down for one.

Do you have any kind of insider assurance they will actually ship in January? Working prototype, etc? Last I heard baikal wasn't taking preorders yet and hadn't announced price/ship date.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal X10 Multialgo Miner (Non-official Support Thread) on: December 15, 2017, 11:59:29 AM
I noticed this same issue at 30% fan speed. Doesn't happen at 20 or 50% fan.

Related question: is there a list of the sgminer options somewhere? Interested in using the auto fan control and temp cutoff, but the "gpu-xxx" options from the sgminer docs on GitHub don't seem to work.

Edit: looking for the custom baikal options for sgminer. The only two I've found are "baikal-fan" and "enable-nicehashsma"
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: December 13, 2017, 03:15:07 AM
So i reflashed their image on the side card, it boots up fine and starts mining with the default pools. As soon as I try to modify the pools it goes offline and then refuses connection. Any thoughts? It seems like I am unable to write any changes to the card.

I had the same issue with one unit when I configured it to only use zpool. I haven't been able to get zpool working, but was able to get out of the 111 connection loop by restoring the pool config from a backup and then power cycling the miner.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: December 12, 2017, 11:11:33 PM
Same here. Boards are exposed (which is fine with me because better air flow). It does have a thin retention bracket on the back to hold the cards in, but it doesn't look like the CG pictures on their website.

The aluminum case of the miner was definitely greasy, scuffed, and covered in fingerprints (Seriously, I couldn't even get masking tape to stick to it). The hardware inside looks brand new though. No dust on the fan blades or heatsinks. Boards are still shiny. My guess is that the manufacture of the housing assembly was rushed.

This is my first Baikal miner, but I think it's normal for miners to come preconfigured with pool info. The pools are likely leftover from testing the machines, and also generates a little income for Baikal when the noobs who don't know how to configure a pool just plug it in and walk away.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
