21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scrypt ASIC take over coming soon! on: March 17, 2014, 09:01:37 AM
I mine Microcoin right now its ASIC resistant and easily marketable to the general public.

I was thinking now that ASIC's are coming out for scrypt instead of making ASIC resistant coins why not just lower the memory requirements for scrypt coins so that the hash/wat catches up with ASICs... that way GPU's will still be in the game right. For example, lower memory requirements so that a 7950 can pull 2000kh/s. At least this way the efficiency gap could be close to an asic miner

Nice. This is probably what I will try to do. Or something. I might use even thicker wires.

Yah this should hold you off until the professional stuff starts being released in a few weeks or months idk lol

Will be posting a simple DIY guide for making your own cables for these units soon. If you have a bunch of molex or pci-e laying around from your GPU days you can use them to help power the Gridseed units.

Look forward to this, when will u post it?

I actually did get my knowledge from Summersideguy and Miaviators post. Their post have been very helpful in helping me get things up and running. How ever I'm going to show the step by step breakdown of what I did exactly for the noobs like me who have no electrician knowledge.

PM me when you get this made, I'll link it in the Guide.

Here you guys this is what I did to make my own cables

DIY Gridseed Cables

This is more of a what I've done then a Tutorial. I hope it helps  Grin. Your responsible for your own units do it at your own risk

Supply list
1. Molex connector or PCI-E connector to PSU. (You should have some left over from GPU days or buy online )
2. Barrel connector to screw terminal. (http://www.amazon.com/2-1mm-5-5mm-Male-Power-Adapter/dp/B002QWNZHU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1395019577&sr=8-4&keywords=barrel+connector+screw)
3. 18-20 Gauge Speaker Wire (http://www.amazon.com/AH1850N-feet-18-Gauge-Speaker-Wire/dp/B00005T3G2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1395019797&sr=8-5&keywords=18+gauge+speaker+wire)
4. Electrical Tape

Hack Job for Molex

1. First cut your wire as long as you need it. Split the 2 conductor speaker wire like I did and expose the wire. Insert the exposed end into the Barrel plug terminals and tighten the screws so that the wire doesn't come out so easily.

2. Hack off the black end of the molex power connector, and expose the wires.

3. Connect the Speaker wire to the Molex wire, I just twisted the wires together and tape it up with electrical tape. The most Important part is that the speaker wire that is entering the positive terminal of the barrel connector must be connected to the yellow wire of the Molex, and the wire connected to the negative terminal must be connected to the black wire on the Molex connector. If you got the power wires that Lighting Asic sent you for the generic PSU's, the red wire connects with yellow Molex and the white connects with black Molex.

4. Connect your Molex to your modular power PSU cord. Note that you can run at least 1-5 Gridseed on one Molex to PSU how ever here I am only going to be using 4 just to be safe.

Hack Job For PCI-E

1. This is pretty much the same process as the Molex. The only difference I did here is I'm connecting 2 barrel connectors per (yellow and black) wire.

2. You can see here that I actually connected the 2 barrel connectors to one yellow and black pci-e wire.

3. 10 barrel connectors on one pcie. I had 6 yellow wires and 6 black on this power cord for my psu. I have 2 singles and 4 doubles

Finally Done!!!

You can run 4 units like this. I'm not pushing any more than that and wouldn't try it. Check Miaviators thread he states 1-5/molex recommended.

10 units can run on this pcie cord. I believe Miaviator stated we can run up to 10-12 on PCI-E.

@ justASIC

I don't see anything wrong with this groupbuy he's offering paypal and the lowest price even though it requires a large order but still. Seems like a good deal to me
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what do you call the money you plan to use for day-trading? on: March 16, 2014, 09:06:37 AM
Never leave that kind of money on an exchange. You should at least spread your coins out between a few exchanges like bitstamp or btc-e for example that way you can take advantage of the swing on both exchanges.

Escrow?

I can do that for only things I have on hand... If you would like I can escrow for you a couple of Gridseeds controllers, and power bricks, I also have some gpu's selling for reasonable offer accepting escrow, but for a group buy I can only accept bitcoin no escrow

How is it that you are able to produce pictures of the miners, yet you imply that they are not on hand?

In the OP I stated that my 1st GB purchase was for myself and friends. I wanted to host this public GB the reasons stated in my previous post here. I explained everything in the post about the escrow situation. For the members that pm'd me about ordering I have never once tried to convince them to hand over their money.

Edit: oh and didn't you see the previous comments I am a master of photoshop lol  Wink... sarcasim

Couldn't help but say Love the pic, the work you did with the shadowing is just amazing.

Wink

Much Props.

My wife thought I was nuts for taking that pic. Her "why the fuck are you sticking the middle finger at your computers aren't they hating you already" lol

This is my LOL to cooldgamer nothing personal. My name spelled out with my own hand writing.
I stand corrected, tou'che and good luck with this

ha feel kind of discouraged now. When I first started this in January my goal was to one secure whole sale price for myself and friends which was "Frank"ly a very slow process. Secondly, and don't bash me help the Microcoin community by offering them a chance to spend their coinage on Gridseed or [GPU's/w escrow].

I would love to offer escrow, but unlike atario I will not be able to finance this whole operation on my own hence the GB. I will try to secure a loan but idk if my 200min will be honored by the time I receive the loan if I do. By then there will probably be 1k minimum seeing as a lot more ppl are starting to resell.

After all that being said their are a few ppl interested in 50 units of the 200 with no escrow. Nothing fulfilled yet.

^ @ cooldgamer, dude what are you trying to do here? these pictures are not photo shopped, I compressed the image because the original size was 1200x1000 and when I placed the image code in here the thing was damn near ginormous. please stop stinking up this thread with false accusations.

So post the original, uncompressed version on imgur and provide a link.  Huh

Will do after work for sure you'll see the image is huge!

A better proof is just to take some new photos and put 5-6 labels with your username all over it.

In any case anyone with a decent reputation can arrange a gb by buying 20 units retail and taking BTC only instead of esrow and Paypal. If you are serious you have to offer this.

Every wonder why no one really takes paypal? Because they will freeze the sellers account. Like they did to me and it took me 2 weeks to ship the goods and get it unfrozen all the while paying for it all myself.

Btw, for gb organisers and buyers. Gridseed just raised the minimum buy to 500.

ps, To me that looks photoshopped. The text seems to just float on the paper and the shear angle is not correct.

I will and put it in hand writing, I didn't not photoshop I compressed the image that's what you guys are seeing there jesus Christ. I'll take new pics.
And sorry but im not taking paypal, btc only no escrow

@ droid we can do that.
