21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 02, 2018, 05:20:09 AM
I was pretty disillusioned with some of the prior updates but it's cool to see this really getting back on track. There's a lot of really simple things your team can do to greatly boost the value of this, but it's cool to see a focus on the actual product/tech.

Not to derail but if anyone wants to sell some byteballs for BTC shoot me a PM.

The market doesn't seem to share your optimism though. Byteball has lost more than 80% of its value in a matter of couple of months. Other alts have been bleeding too, but the impact on Byteball seems to be disproportionately large. My hope is with the focus on the actual product, the market also realizes its potential and corrects its valuation.

Most currencies have lost 80% of their value in the past few months... it is a macro-problem of the whole crypto echosystem which is in deep bear market.

Byteball seems to have fallen in the relative rankings amongst cryptocurrencies as well. This cannot be attributed to macro problems of the crypto ecosystem. We have to admit that the canceled air drop has affected sentiment. The hope is that future developments more than compensate for this sharp drop.

Long term view on this is that right now despite having a russian dev it is a swiss entity, i like the neutrality, and I am sure that you know better than I do that the tech tonych has developed (along with the few others that help) is top notch. This is where the true value lies.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK on Binance 🔹 on: April 02, 2018, 05:11:42 AM
Erm...... oops.... I sent some EUR from my bank to KRAKEN in order to exchange into coins and then buy more ARK, I even charged myself extra 10€ in order for the amount to be credited today only to realise that today AND Monday is a holiday for banks.... please ARK price, don't increase by Tuesday!

I think you will be okay by then - 1 month ago we were at $4 so anything near $2 is a good deal Smiley
23  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 02, 2018, 05:04:25 AM
In my opinion, this is an April Fools joke from admin. April Fools is a wide known tradition in this world, and i believe it is known globally, not only in one country, but if this system is true, i will be shocked hard.

I don't think it is entirely global which accounts partly for the large number of people not getting it. Then there are those who will always be fooled. I'm enjoying how many are asking what the f in fMerit stands for  Wink
All of them, including Imagination, Politeness, Virtue, Karma, Coins, fmerits have not shown in my profile.
Another plus signal is I have not seen Theymos launched something without detailed announcement about its mechanism.
Combined all of them, I believe we have witnessed big joke.
Congratulations, take it easy and enjoy fun.

Oh, there's a detailed announcement and full instructions to calculate if you will rank up. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3232693.0

I was so confused, came back after a short hiatus and saw Karma and politeness, I guess Theymos has had enough of the crazy ALL CAPS color trolls - I think I like this new change  Grin

Edit: nvm, as soon as I posted it went back to the old, got me for sure
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XEL] :: Elastic - The Decentralized Supercomputer :: on: April 02, 2018, 04:57:52 AM
There is an ongoing discussion about Golem and its work verification procedure.
Someone is running a bad Golem node that renders an Elastic advertisement  Tongue and gets positive work verification:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GolemProject/comments/881ip0/huge_security_issue_in_golem_0140_discovered/

More details on that security issue can be found below - the author admits being XEL fan   Wink
https://github.com/supercomputers/security_audits/blob/master/GolemKanbanana.md

Wow, simply amazing! I had a good laugh, i doubt GNT is though. After all that money and "team" members, they were defeated by one guy with an old ACER,  Roll Eyes - meanwhile XEL  Cool

Hello guys!
Thank Altcoin Investing and @Pallas, the chief developer for the interview on his website. Thanks for the time and the good work. Enjoy! https://www.altcoininvestingnews.com/single-post/XCNInterview

great interview Smiley love this tech, I really hope that pallas is right and that in 5 years people will be looking XCN as the solution to scalable blockchain
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nexus - Pure SHA3 + CPU/GPU + nPoS + 15 Active Innovations + More to Come on: April 02, 2018, 04:26:21 AM

Imagine a personal IP address for each of your devices and encrypted with your private blockchain keys for unparalleled privacy and security. Now imagine a secondary dynamic IP that intelligently locates the shortest communication path for unmatched bandwidth. Then let us imagine this is operated by a global satellite constellation that replaces tens of thousands of miles of cable with an unobstructed 90 mile vertical reach for high speed and low latency. This is LISP+Nexus! The internet forever changed - decentralized, fast, private, and secure.‬

Nexus and LISP are the new era of what Tesla was for the 20th century, empowering people with the freedom of technology. Waiting for the world to catch on, then catch up.

LISP sound interesting, the way the packets are encapsulated might help solve the eventual problem of lack of bandwidth and spectrum, but from what I understand, as of right now LISP is rather young and untested, might be a cause for concern (security of LISP) Nexus might be to help with that... hopefully it plays out in our favor
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase to add ERC-20 Support on: March 26, 2018, 09:54:23 PM
Coinbase announced their intention to support the Ethereum ERC20 technical standard for their platform in the coming months. This paves the way for supporting ERC20 assets across Coinbase products in the future, though they aren't announcing support for any specific assets or features at this time.
https://blog.coinbase.com/adding-erc20-support-to-coinbase-fe9cba6782b

Wow that actually really exiting news - thanks for sharing - although I really don’t think they’ll list 90% of erc20 tokens
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RLC] iEx.ec blockchain-based distributed cloud announces its Crowdsale on: March 26, 2018, 07:57:16 PM
Hi iEx Dev,
Just for your information, Elastic project just announce a testnet? How your project IEX blockchain-based distributed cloud compare to elastic project please

I am not the dev, but I do not think we can quite compare them, they operate differently. XEL has its own blockchain and own program language (which could be a barrier to wide use - or it could do the opposite)  - but the race is on!

I agree with you.
Also the advantage of this project IEX comparing to XEL  is this project has a good and known Team from the academia background and no hidden faces but the only issue is this project is being build on top of ethereum. I'm not sure if this the best approach.

I feel the same way about RLC being on ETH but I remember reading somewhere that they could switch to a different platform if they want/need to

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: March 26, 2018, 07:11:59 PM
With the recent developements regarding crypto regulation, this coin has a great potential.

It always had good potential, VPN industry is expected to grow over the next few years regardless of crypto regulations. But yeah I very enthusiastic for the final product  Grin

33  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Decentralizing the Internet with Mesh Networks? on: March 25, 2018, 04:45:02 PM
That sounds like an impossible solution to reach mass market. Simply because regular internet for most people is just the internet company comes and connects it to their computer.

I don't know, I definitely overly simplified the task but
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guifi.net

a spanish mesh network was born in 2004 due to lack of service from said ISPs and in 2018 this network continues to grow to this day - "over 46,000 km of wireless links" that seems pretty large scale.

110 new nodes last week https://guifi.net/en

34  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VIRGINITY before getting married on: March 25, 2018, 02:35:25 PM
Do you think virginity is still important before getting married?

Depends on the culture, but here is my take on it

Do you test drive a car before you buy it? yes.
same thing with marriage
gotta have sex with your partner before marriage so you can figure out if you're compatible in bed

lets say you both stay virgins, but after your marriage you realize she's a dead fish and that you like be rough... you're gunna run into some problems there.

Test Drive.

Every supporter of Aeternity would want to wear this t-shirt with big pleasure. Let's see if I also win or not. By the way it would be nice to see feedback here from people using forum and in case of winning any t-shirt to share their comments back. Winners will be known tomorrow let's wait and see who wins. It is good anyway whoever wins will wear and promote an amazing project in his community and town.

It would be nice if there was a way to buy the t-shirts directly. Or have more frequent raffles or something like that.

37  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Decentralizing the Internet with Mesh Networks? on: March 25, 2018, 03:35:53 AM
I've been thinking about doing this in my local area, but it will require more work and funds.
I also can't seem to get my directional antenna to work properly and have no idea why.

The true problem I see here is how could we connect cities with each other. Inside the city we can use regular wifi, but I don't know what kind of distance we could get with these long range antennas and if that would be enough to connect cities with each other.

I would love to work on this stuff, but this will take a lot of time with limited funds, I will keep it as a long term goal however.

https://www.ubnt.com/airfiber/airfiber5/

13 - 100 Km range depending on the model - lets take the 100km range (in perfect conditions) - so really more like 20 km with trees and buildings (complete guess) -

now lets take a relatively small country, lets say Belgium - 30,000 sq. km - assuming the wifi range is 100km surface of a circle is pi*r^2 = pi*100^2 = 31,000 sq. km - in theory - only one of their network backhaul model AFU/U would cover all of Belgium - now assuming the range of 20 km - the surface area of the network backhaul would be roughly 1200 sq. Km per unit - so more about 30 would cover Belgium.

here is a map of NYCs mesh network - the Red lines connect Nodes via Air wifi
https://nycmesh.net/map/

I think it is doable, even easy to start by yourself, but it much harder to scale out and get adoption when people are so used to just only one way of getting internet access
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 24, 2018, 05:12:02 PM
Confirmed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2838370.msg33070111#msg33070111

SAFE is rolling back their blockchain due to the small amount of coins that were notary mined. Integrity of the 4 million premined must be preserved at all costs, cant have that diluted by a few percent! The losses to miners who were mining after their rollback point is about the same as the number of coins that were notary mined.

At least the SAFE is a bit safer with the new changes, though it seems very likely other issues are still there. please be nice to SAFE since they are such nice people and please dont take advantage of the attack vectors they left in the code. it would be so wrong to do that to these nice people.

Too bad they are stealing all the coins that were properly notary mined. Seems a bit strange they accuse so loud of stealing when they are the onces in fact stealing coins from properly mined coins. I guess what can be expected from a fully centralized coin with giant premine and lots of stealth mining.

I must say that the last few pages of ANN have been pretty entertaining to read. Now I know to stay clear from (un)SAFE coin. Thank you
39  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin traders, why don't you just trade forex? on: March 24, 2018, 01:52:13 PM
LoL cuz Forex is pretty much a scam, you have to pay for your lot size, the gains are minimal unless you trade on margin, and then you lose your money. I honestly don't get why people trade Forex. You have better luck trading stocks, and crypto even though liquidity is pretty low in crypto compared to the stock or forex exchanges.
Generally it's from which side to look at this project, because there is a certain just people who trade Forex and get the biggest profits. If one of the weaker traders makes a profit, it only allows them to collect the crumbs from their table.

Exactly, Forex  almost feels like an MLM scheme lol - top dogs with huge lot sizes makes lots of money, and the little guy he convinced to join gets burned most of the time
40  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex is better? on: March 24, 2018, 05:47:16 AM
I've never traded on Polo to be honest, but i do like Bittrex a lot. I understand tons of people were having trouble with signing up and having funds in lingo, but aside from that it is one of the best exchanges imo. I personally I prefer Bittrex's UI to Binance's - But I prefer binance overall, if you get what I am trying to say. GDax is great as well.
