23  Economy / Goods / Re: Anonymous reloadable EUR/USD/GBP VISA cards with own bank account on: September 22, 2013, 09:31:00 PM
Hello,

About a week ago I ordered one of these USD cards via BIPS. I received it today, but everything is in Polish and I have no idea how to activate or fund it Smiley  I went to the bank's website, but again, no idea what to do and I don't want to screw something up.

How do I find the bank account information of the card? (routing and account numbers, etc)
24  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitnopoly launching Bitcoin enabled games - New accounts receive 100 Bit Points on: September 19, 2013, 04:29:43 AM
Please please please add an option to remove the countdown timer!!  The entire Coinapult office would love to play this but can't stay glued to the screen for an hour Sad

Really amazing game, I WANT to love it so much Smiley

This has become my preferred android wallet. Been very happy with it so far. Hopefully it'll look a little prettier some day, but in terms of function and reliability I have no complaints at all Smiley
26  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: new bitcoin game site - Bitnopoly on: September 10, 2013, 08:35:26 PM
Hey jseverson,

Have you modified it so that the countdown time is user-configurable or able to be disabled? We want to play it at the office but can't if we have to be glued to the screen for the entire game Smiley
27  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: new bitcoin game site - Bitnopoly on: August 21, 2013, 05:31:08 PM
Ah awesome! So glad this is up now Smiley

I just played a game with some friends. Here are my recommendations:

1) Timer MUST be user configurable at the start of the game. It needs to permit very long turns, because some people play casually (at work or whatever) and can't be in front of the game screen nonstop. Also, it needs a way to pause the game (if all players agree). Perhaps, before a player is booted for timing out, the other players should get to vote on it (this prevents cases where nobody wants the player kicked, but it happens anyway and ruins the game).

2) Allowing for up to six players would be ideal.

3) When I own a monopoly, and I click on one of the properties in it, I need to see what the rental prices are. Right now, it only shows me that I can upgrade houses. I have no idea what the revenue potential is worth.

4) There is currently no way to go to the sponsor pages (the properties don't link to the company's sites)

5) Get rid of the Tax lol... make it like, "You lose a wallet file"

6) I think the "free parking" money that collects in the middle during a normal monopoly game is important, but it's missing from Bitnopoly. I think you should consider adding that feature.

Will be following the development with interest!

30  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 15, 2013, 04:17:56 PM
Are you going to change the first post of the thread to summarize the various changes you have made?

Yeah DT you should do this...
31  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 14, 2013, 03:54:08 AM

I don't want to derail the thread here... but you do realize that SatoshiDice shareholders made 4x what I did on the sale, no? You realize that means I sacrificed millions of dollars in order to benefit shareholders far above what the contract required, no? And you realize the end result: the vast majority of investors got all their principle back plus roughly 20% in dividends, do you not? I'm not saying people should be thrilled with the outcome, but options are limited when an exchange rate goes up 8x after an IPO happens.
I more or less want to understand EXACTLY how the offering changed when DT posted the change.    It is not clear to me.  Just a simple example would be sufficient.   Pointing out the amount of interest you have in this compared to the amount of time you spent on SD talking to shareholders, is because it was the first time I became curious of whether there was something I was missing.
And no this is not the place for you to justify how many millions you "lost" by getting rid of something (maybe) that put you at HUGE personal (freedom) risk from a government that already had shown us the glee it took in "perp walking" all the on line poker executives.    Personally, if I was you, I would have gotten my ass out of manhattan, never to return, or gotent my name off the site as soon as too much publicity started coming around bitcoin in general.   That you did the latter seems to me as smart on your part but not as altruistic in any way.   Feel free to start a thread where people can ask you questions and answer them, and I am sure most of the FUD will be cleared up.

Getting that chapter closed was not altruistic, you're right. But ensuring disparate parties were as taken care of as possible, was. I agree this isn't the place to discuss SD, so I'll leave it there. I think your points are reasonable and I hope DT will respond adequately for you.
32  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 14, 2013, 03:29:31 AM

There are two different things here.  One is the capital.   you are putting up 100% and receiving 75% of the assets bought.

Not quite. Shareholders are putting up 100% and receiving 75% directly as dividends and the other 25% as reinvestment in more mining capacity (from which they then receive additional dividends). It's a strategic decision to keep the mine improving.

Further, DT promised to pay 0.0016 btc per share in dividends before the private owners get anything.
33  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 14, 2013, 03:22:17 AM
I thought this was interesting but when I saw how much work the satoshi dice guy put into convincing us it was a great deal, I felt uncomfortable.   I mean, he posting more here than he communicated with his shareholders in the last year (I have not done a word count but I do not think I am exaggerating much).

So, can anyone tell me why my summary of this is not correct?
This is a a pre-sale of ASICs, where you only get 75% of the asic you pre-paid for AND you do not have the physical ASIC in hand?

Um, the "Satoshi Dice" guy as well as Dead Terra are some of the most respected members of the Bitcoin community.

This whole thread is full of people personally screwed by both DT and EV... we've been saying over and over not to trust these people... and all they have done so far is prove us right over and over with this shady 'make it up as you go' ordeal. I mean they can't even answer the most simple questions... they have no clue what they are doing.   I've developed a narrative that DT and EV are bad guys and I'm going to perpetuate that narrative using hyperbole and superficial, unsubstantiated accusations.

FTFY

And regarding IceDrill, did the terms change from when the IPO originally posted? Yes. Did they change in a way that substantially harmed investors? No. In fact, the deal for investors improved markedly, and on top of that DT put up a bid offer to buy back any shares of those who were uncomfortable with the changes.
34  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 13, 2013, 04:29:41 AM

You're right in theory but horribly wrong in practice.  I'll ignore the issue of principle - that issuers should honestly represent what they're doing and clearly disclose what happens with funds and focus on the practical points.

Absolutely agree that issuers should honestly represent what they're doing. My point was more, as a selfish investor, I don't really care what they're doing so long as they deliver the promised ghs by the promised time.

Firstly, you're correct that what investors receive intially isn't impacted by the price paid for it by the issuers.  But remember that a chunk of what is mined is reinvested.  If that reinvested portion also suffers from being used to purchase at inflated prices then that directly reduces potential to investors.

Excellent point. I hadn't considered that.

Secondly, if the relationship between Ice-Drill and the suppliers isn't a simple buyer/seller one then it's hard for investors to rely on management having interests totally aligned with theirs.  That's why I asked questions about the terms of the supply deal - what guarantees had been obtained and what due diligence conducted to ensure the suppliers would and could refund if they failed to meet defined delivery dates.

Good point again.

I see your concern now. I know DT well enough to trust him, but if I didn't then I'd share the same concern.

Great advice from the master of: I win, everyone else is lucky to get out with their skin intact.

I wasn't sure about this mess, but seeing you pimp for it makes it obvious it's a ripoff.

I think some day you'll learn that you have that first sentence backwards. Nice refutation of my points, though  Roll Eyes
36  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: August 13, 2013, 03:57:41 AM
So HashFast is only the true winner in this game and not IceDrill.

People need to stop thinking of business as if one person wins, and everyone else loses. I see it all the time on this forum. With that mindset, observers try to figure out "who profits the most" and then label everyone else a loser or victim of a scam. In reality, there can be multiple winners, and in any good business deal, there is.

HashFast is the firm inventing the new chips. So yes, they probably will make the most money from sale of chips, as everything else is derivative and not as value-adding as the creation of those chips. But that doesn't mean other steps in the supply chain don't also profit. And it doesn't mean that other steps in the supply chain aren't valid business propositions (such as IceDrill).

Carve away all the puffery that's gone on in this thread, and look at the numbers. Investors are paying about $14-$15 for ghs to be delivered in late oct/early nov. Estimate the difficulty at that point, and then decide if it's a reasonable risk/return ratio. Consider then that the entire mine is going to pay .0016 per public share before the subsequent revenue is split equitably, meaning the mine will pay off for public holders before it pays of for the operators. This makes it additionally attractive... in reality the investors are, at launch, getting more than a ghs for their $14 (they're also getting the operators' share of the mine proceeds until 0.0016 btc per share in dividends is paid!).

Further, whether the operators are getting some of the IPO money is absolutely irrelevant. Let's assume they are getting 99% of the IPO money and will spend it on hookers and blow, does that make the deal worse? No, because the promise is to deliver X ghs per $ invested by Y time. Unless they break that promise, it matters not at all where the IPO money goes. Maybe IceDrill got the entire mine from HashFast for $100... and thus they'll keep all the IPO money for themselves. So what? Or, maybe IceDrill is paying $14 per ghs from HashFash, and thus not earning a penny from the IPO money. So what?

All that matters is the ghs delivered to shareholders, by what date, and at what price.

How much hashfast and the operators of icedrill make, and whether one gets kickbacks from another, or whether they're the same person, and what kind of clothes they're wearing or car they're driving is completely irrelevant. They are offering a price, for a product. If you trust them to deliver, then buy shares, otherwise ignore.

37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network passed 4000 Petaflops on: August 13, 2013, 03:22:29 AM
Flops (Floating Point Operations Per Second) do not apply to Bitcoin, Especially not since the advert of ASICs.

If you want to do a comparison do it with the estimated power consumption.

That's not a good comparison either, because btc mining gets more efficient. Mining power has gone up by a order of magnitude, but I bet actual electricity usage isn't substantially higher than a year ago.

Best as I can tell, this investment will only make money for the issuers, their hardware suppliers, and perhaps a few flippers

How do you square this with the fact that these shares pay out .0016 btc before the issuers get any money from the mine? All of the profits are front loaded to the public investors.
