Changes to the Consumer Protection Act and laws governing gambling so that Internet service providers must block access to online gambling websites on a list of “illegal sites” created by Loto-Québec
http://montrealgazette.com/news/quebec/2015-quebec-budget-highlights

Please devote a few spare brain cells to a technical solution to this, in case the idea spreads to other jurisdictions.  I would suggest a TOR-like bouncing of the client-server communication so that blocking of the domain would not be effective.  Would need to keep latency to a minimum.

Can you connect to SWC through TOR?

Hi

Probably discussed before but do you plan to release a browser lobby/ tables instead of an EXE ?

Indeed, I we've been griping about it for many pages.  Supposedly an android client is next (which will solve my issue) then they're doing more desktop clients for other OSes, then finally html5.  I dunno why it's not the other way around.

Yup, I'm one of the gripers too!  I have to say, I'd love to hear the rationale as to why they targeted the "new software" they were working on so long at WINDOZE only.  I know that's what's done is done, but in my opinion, even mavens using flash (and i hate flash) was better than nothing.

i think that you already know this, but....

They wanted to bring certain games and features to sealswithclubs.eu which they accomplished by PURCHASING EXISTING SOFTWARE which had the featureset that they were looking for with the intention of finishing multiple clients PRIOR TO RELEASE.  Then sealswithclubs.eu was shut down unexpectedly and rather than nothing for everyone they decided to move forward with what they had while they worked on the rest for swcpoker.eu.

As an android player, I miss poker too...but griping about it here is not going to change anything.

There is a way to get windows free for 90 days in virtualbox.  It expires after 90 days, but then you can just reload the original image.  see http://pclosmag.com/html/issues/201309/page15.html for more information on how to do it.

That's pretty interesting since as far as I know (I haven't ever tried it) I can basically do apt-get install virtualbox to install that (that may not be the right package name but I think they have a .deb in the tree somewhere).  I'd be very happy with a nukeable windows just to try this out because god knows I'm not going to pay for that shit.

EDIT: Just got a chance to reread some of the previous pages and I really like what dooglus has been saying.  I can't agree more.  Windows is rooted by MS, there's no way to secure that as far as I can tell.  Choice of client was obviously intentional, sealswithclubs was working on new software and they decided to start with windows.  Others who say "well windows users are the majority" are missing (I think) the fact that there were cross-plaform options (shit, you could have even built a java app which would have run everywhere---java obviously has issues too) and if they had started with these, they'd have immediately been able to keep their userbase instead of losing x% of us immediately cos we don't have windows.  Anyway, I guess I won't try to echo what he said anymore it's just that I think he's doing a much better job than sed (no offense dude) at getting the points across.

That doesn't work when you make the decision to BUY AN EXISTING windows poker client because everyone liked it with the intention of first customizing it to Seals, then writing versions for other OSes.  Agents with guns fucked up that plan.

The choice was to have the site down for a few months for everyone, or just make the small subset of users who were not using the windows client (myself included - 197,000krill on android across 2 years of daily play) wait for a few months.  It is a very easy business decision.

They'll keep getting all kinds of malware, keep having their bitcoins stolen, and just think that's how it has to be.

When you try to tell them there's a better way their eyes glaze over and they think you're trying to say you're "better than them".

@dooglus - If linux was the 90% and windows was the 1%, i think that we would see an explosion in malware development for linux.  I have found that people are open minded to hearing about a better way, but too many people present the idea as "Your way is stupid - here is a better way" which comes across as "you are stupid and i'm better than you".

If nerds could do a better job explaining to the common person why changing from something that they know to something that seems/is more complex.....bitcoin would have wider usage by now.

Finally, now I'm sorta starting to get desperate for my seals poker so I have to ask, has anyone tried to run this windows client thingy using WINE?

There was this post during the testing phase:

...

a) I play both on windows client through wine, want to use the linux client, and play on android quite a bit.

...

Thanks tipping point, but I think that this guy was saying that he used the old windows client using WINE.  Since he's asking here to try out the new software, I'm assuming that this is before he got a chance to try it.

As I recall, installing and using WINE is a real hassle, you have to create this virtual "C:" drive (brings me back to when I was a kid using DOS) and then you always have shit-tons of problems trying to find the right dlls to make whatever you're trying to run actually run.  I think the only thing I ever got running on it was Civilization III Smiley

All that is to say that I don't really want to fuck with WINE at all unless someone else has already done it and can say that it works.  If there's a witness to that, then I may be convinced to try over the weekend or sometime when I have some time to play around with it.

coinwarz is wrong dude, don't look at it

and nothing is profitable, let alone with cpu, but if you want mining anyway, you can try Magi, a coin that is cpu only(or at least it was so...)
If I'm try mine magi with 640 machines, I will ruin the coin bro. Did u readed magi's topic?
It's good coin if you have only 2-3 machines. Whatever hashrate you have it is does not mention u will get excalty same profit like miners with one pc.

I am 99% sure "Upcoming" also shows "Late reg". That being said, I definitely agree.. I also want to see both (late) reg, announced and running tournaments. (Also... isn't "Announced" "Upcoming" too?)  Basically that button would be better as "Show non-completed only" although that sounds pretty awful.

The button label would be "Exclude Completed"

Found 2 blocks with that parameters. It's very strange but it works. So actually it must works without that extra flags but it's not for me previously. Thanks to dave23!

now if only I could remember what made me settle on those parameters...

I don't have time to go through all the posts since Feb 11th, but was there ever any evidence regarding this raid other than Micon?  I've searched a bit and everything online is traceable back to Micon's youtube post and subsequent forum posts.

Obviously, he could've just taken the BTC and run so I give him that, but surely if a raid action were taken there would be some evidence of it since the government has open records requirements and all of that stuff, right?

Karl Bennison, the chief of enforcement of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, told Ars on Monday that a “law enforcement action” took place at Micon's home on February 11, 2015. The official also confirmed that Micon was not arrested or charged with a crime and that “the investigation is ongoing.”

In my case, this Version https://github.com/gapcoin/GapMiner/releases/download/gapminer-rev4.1/windows.zip doesn't find any blocks/shares, even if I mining in a pool. The previos sersions works without any problems.

So it's another confirmation on my side. I don't no how j0nn9 testing it, testnet, hmm probably need a real testing... And how dave23 was successfully. Maybe some mistakes with the links with fixed or not fixed builds in thread. It's no good when builds named windows.zip without any numbers imho...

This version does not find any shares on pool and no blocks for solo, you should fix it.

He said he fix it but as we can see it's not. I guess it's most of that he used testnet and not the real mining for solving that issue. But the dave23 said (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=822498.msg10436950#msg10436950) it's ok with last version for solo. So i don't know what to think. I'm not the noob or something. Mining about 3 years. And when i just change the version and it doesn't find any blocks for 24 hours (tested twice) with about 1500000 h\s something wrong...

i am using the following command line:

gapminer-cpu.exe -o 127.0.0.1 -p 31397 -u xxx -x xxx -t 8 --sieve-primes 900000 --sieve-size 33554432 --shift 25

I am ready.

Hoping that the Android app isn't too far behind, as I spend a lot of time away from home.
Additionally, I hope that you get some almost naked (or fully naked?) sexy woman to make a video to let me know that each version is available.  It makes me happy.

Love,

There is a mailing address provided for the site, but it is either not valid, or it is a real estate company (according to google maps).
Site claims to be "fully regulated" but provides no details.
Site says "RNG tested and audited" but provides no details
Terms and Conditions plagiarized from Lock Poker and still says Lock in several places.

1-Correct, we rent an office here.
2-Correct, RGN tested
3-Correct, Lots of similar rules and terms we use from other poker sites to form ours.

thanks for responding so quickly

unanswered: "fully regulated" - by who?
re: #2 - tested by who?  when?
re: #3 - did you get permission to use the text from other sites?  This isn't similarities, this is copy, paste, and replace (mostly).

What about people who were actively playiong when site went down?  I was able to cashout my balance that I did not have on a table, but the  800 chips that WERE on tables were not sent to me.  Emailed hdev and no reply.

Can you post some of your most recent hand history from just before the site went down?

It would show what table(s) you were playing at, who was playing, the date and time, hand number(s), and everyone's stack sizes.

I can't comment on this specific case, but i can confirm that this is a real issue that affected several players .

What difference does it make where micon is or what he does with his $3?

I expect transparency when there is an issue that affects my money....i don't expect transparency into issues that affect SWC, which operates in a legal gray area.

They could do a better job of setting expectations about when they will be back, then i wouldn't have worn out the refresh button on twitter waiting for an update.

Is there an update on the Windows miner working? Noticed the website latest news mentioned issues. Thanks!

Just fixed the Windows solo mining bug:

Windows: https://github.com/gapcoin/GapMiner/releases/download/gapminer-rev4.1/windows.zip
md5: 140c6b00811bd6474582f360956b4daa

I don't think you fix it. Still no blocks after 24 hour of mining! Back to previous version, block after 2 hours.

I explicit tested the uploaded version again, at least on my system the bug is fixed, and it's mining valid blocks on testnet.
But it shouldn't bother you anyway, the new version only fixed the Windows stratum support. The mining speed is still the same.

Ok i see, but testnet is not the same as real mining, so your next versions can include this bug with solo.

I am successfully solo mining with my CPU using the newest version.
