21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.5 (Windows/Linux) on: March 20, 2018, 05:10:19 PM
So my question is what should i do to stop shutdowns?
Try:

- Disabling quickedit mode for console
- using -oldkernels 1
- using v11.0
- Do NOT run GPUZ or HWinfo while mining

Quote
How can i use MSI with new AMD drivers and Windows 1709?

- The newest drivers work fine you need to run pixel clock patcher
- Make sure the drivers are minimal install and you do custom install, unclick everything except the drivers

Quote
What Claymore should i use?

Single mining 10.6
Dual mining 11.0 (might fluctuate), 11.5, or 11.5 with -oldkernels 1

All are stable on my BIOS modded rx580s but each has different results

Quote
Why is Trixx suddenly stop to work?

Use OverdrivenTool instead.  Far better solution

Quote
Hope someone gives me a solution.

Thanks

We hope so too!  Report back on testing.  Many are having problems with rx580s.

After installing the latest AMD drivers you need to run pixel clock patcher for any cards that are BIOS modded

Little update on testing my BIOS modded rx580 mini rig.  This is dual mining keccac and always the same bat file

v11.0 - 61.3 mhs with heavy fluctuation into the mid 50s
v11.5 - 61.9 mhs with heavy fluctuation as above -oldkernels 1 option used
v11.5 - 62.2 mhs fluctuation of a tenth at most(62.15 to 62.25), seems stable on the new kernels for some reason?

Heavy fluctuation would be down into the mid 50s.  Sometimes for a few minutes.  Each card would randomly drop 3-10%.

Here's the difference between when 11.5 was unstable (4%+ rejected no matter how much I slowed, plus freezing) with the new kernels and now:

- Not running HWinfo
- I didn't run GPUZ before, but it's important NOT to run it while mining
- updated to the new video drivers that came out march 19, minimal install which may be very important.  I had the bloat installed before.
- disabled QuickEdit mode in console
- Disabled all power states in the video card BIOS except the top

The card speeds and voltages are the same as before when I had instability.  I can't think of anything else that has changed.

Be careful updating to the new AMD drivers.
They will block all overdriving software until you run pixel clock patcher.  The patcher wasn't required before for all cards, now it will be.  I hope some here find this useful and Claymore as well.  Happy mining.

PS will report back after running 24 hours on the new kernels.  I've only been running an hour but I can tell something has changed.

Your wallet will only be in the log a couple of times at the top.  It should literally take minutes for them to make a page.

My question is why can Claymore miner in the command prompt just die and or can it think its starting a reboot and windows not actually reboot?

Try disabling QuickEdit Mode for the console

Keccakc is different than keccak

Dear Claymore, do you plan to add new algorithms to the next version of the program? Smart coin, it seems that died, on other coins the difficulty is high. What about Keccakc?

I bet nicehash upgraded from v10.6

it's possible with the new kernels that modified ram timings aren't needed. Will report back in a few days on that.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.5 (Windows/Linux) on: March 19, 2018, 05:43:37 PM
i give up with the new versions.

new kernels keep giving me incorrect shares no matter how i downclock, it comes the point that its giving me lower hashrate already than the old kernels/old versions.

however, using oldkernels 1 with 11.5 also fluctuates my hashrate so much by 30-40mh/s less.

so my last option is use old versions.

for more info, im dual mining keccak with dcri 6.

This is exactly what I have found with my bios modded rx580s. I am glad I am not the only one. What version did you downgrade to 11.0?  Keep in mind what we are talking about is the fluctuation is in the miner or reported hashrate NOT effective hashrate which normally fluctuates due to luck.

So my options:
- try stock bios with new kernels
- wait for a fix
- use 11.0
- accept the fluctuation

Try uninstalling all of the AMD bloat especially Wattman.

I like to have the BIOS flashed with good fam and temp settings.  Then that becomes the default.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.5 (Windows/Linux) on: March 19, 2018, 04:48:11 AM
Good job Claymore team. With 11.5 stale shares reduced from 7% to 3%. After 48 hrs full stable with RX cards.

is your reported(mining rate in claymore not effective) hashrate fluctuating at all? Are you using oldkernels?

My 6x580 8gb Hynix/Samsung 180mhs with 930w. 1200/2150. Can someone have better OC settings or i need to flash my gpus again instead of one click timing?

Thanks

Try 1200/ 2170 for the hynix and the Samsung is able to do a lot of output with 2000.

Less old Shares are good.

But how can the miner reduce that himself?  Undecided
Should not the miner just work and send all found shares to the pool? ... and the pool "decides" if the found share came too late?
Does the miner not send all shares to the pool, but decides after a self-invented logic whether he sends it or not?   Huh

Miner can only change pools and find one that matches his hashrate.  I think it is mostly the pools fault.

I went from ethermine and 40 to 60 msec pings and tons of stales to anorak with 120 msec pings and no stales.  Zero.

This has nothing to do with changing the pool.

Readme.txt - FEATURES
- Effective Ethereum mining speed is higher by 3-5% because of a completely different miner code - much less invalid and outdated shares, higher GPU load, optimized OpenCL code, optimized assembler kernels.

But how is this achieved? By better code or a logic in the code that decides that a found share might be outdated, because it was found, for example, only after 40 seconds.

Don't believe me but please try it yourself.  I am not talking about stales reported by the miner but rather by the pool.

For you guys having pool problems try anorak pool:

eth.anorak.tech:8002 2b difficulty less than 100 mhs
eth.anorak.tech:8004 4b difficulty 100 mhs to 1000
eth.anorak.tech:8009 9b difficulty 1000 and above

For SSL change the 8 to 9

I haven't had a single stale

latest amd drivers safe to use?

Yes just make sure after install the cards are set to compute

Is there an official site to download the last Claymore's version? Windows 10 platform.

Those of you on Windows 10 getting random shutdowns do this:

Right click start. bat file - properties - options - uncheck QuickEdit Mode - apply - ok

What happens is a window like control panel, Windows defender or task manager comes up and the console freezes. Then the window goes away Claymore resumes and uh oh! Looks like our GPUs failed. But they didnt. Fall creator update did this not Claymore.

While you're in there increase the font size and make it bold.

I dont think you are right on this ...
- I dont have creartor update on my nvdia rigs , rigs working fine with v 11.2 without any problem
- 11.4 and 11.5 working fine with AMD cards, but my nvidia rigs keep restarting randomly if im using 11.4 or 11.5

So... its can not be the win 10 creator update ... and yes claymore 11.4 and 11.5 creating the random restarts , 11.2 working just fine ...

I thinj you are right.  This happened before the fall update but it is still there.  Try it both ways yourself.  Open task manager with QuickEdit enabled see what happens. It's possible claymore is now incompatible with QuickEdit mode?

Also I think you are having a different issue altogether.  I wish you luck in resolving.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.5 (Windows/Linux) on: March 17, 2018, 06:30:03 PM
11.5 version restarts rigs randomly, every 1-5 hour. But before restart everything is working. It 100% only this versions issue. 11.4. 11.5.

Try disabling QuickEdit Mode in the properties of your batch file
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.5 (Windows/Linux) on: March 17, 2018, 05:07:33 PM
AMD cards that are BIOS modded definitely use oldkernels
AMD cards that are overclocked right on the edge might need oldkernels

Go ahead and try new kernels. With everything the same as before. If theres any instability or increase in rejected/incorrect do not bother underclocking just go straight to oldkernels.

The main difference between the two I've found is you don't get the fluctuating hash rate with the newer ones.  So if you can get away using them do it.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Weird, I just upgraded to 11.5 my two rigs (rx480 and rx570) and both increase hashrate, and both have mod bios and both are stable without using oldkernels under linux.

What ram straps are you running?  I think that has everything to do with it.  Some work with new some don't.
