21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I too late to join the party? on: December 11, 2017, 12:23:26 AM
Hey guys. Finally decided to get me some coins. I have about 10k to spare. any recommendations?

As a long term investment I don't think its too late but I'd advise waiting for the first signs of recovery after this current dip before buying in.

Investing around times of insane record highs and the early/middle stages of subsequent corrections (like now) isn't advisable with any stock imo. The desire to do so is just FOMO.

The pattern of bitcoin seems to be: long period of steady increase > huge sudden increase > equally sudden correction > long period of steady increase etc.

Right now we appear to be in the midst of a correction phase after the most insane price jump bitcoin has ever seen. Just look at the graphs and you'll be able to see when bitcoin has returned to a more steady upwards trajectory.

If you decide to invest then try not to obsess over the live charts because it'll just send you mad and you might end up panic selling at the first sign of price decrease. Remember, its a very volatile asset to own, it can jump and decrease a lot just in the course of a day.

Personally I'd recommend pulling out your original 10k the second you see 100% gain on it and just play with the remaining 10k profit btc. This way if it crashes you'll have only wasted time as opposed to time and money.

Amazing bull run again this week!

Do you reckon this means we're now due a steep correction like last week and theres opportunity to take some profits right now and buy on the dip?

You just never know with BTC, people keep speculating like its a regular stock and any spike = imminent correction but it just continues to defy all expectations and surge!

I think we'll see a repeat of the late 2013 spike tbh.

First we'll see a steep correction, panic sell from that will cause the price to drop further, btc ney sayers will start with the i told you so's (like in 2013), price goes nowhere for a while, people write it off as dead/burst bubble and start to forget about it (like in 2014/15), then eventually it'll start to gain momentum again indicating another boom.

Basically I think 2018 will bring some great opportunity to buy low for cash out in 2-3 years when the cycle is repeating even stronger.

25  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawing from Coinbase to UK bank account? on: December 02, 2017, 06:12:42 PM
Effective November 20, 2015, when you withdraw GBP from Coinbase we will perform a conversion to EUR and then wire you EUR via SEPA.

Does this mean when I receive withdrawals from Coinbase into my UK bank account its done as an international transfer?

I'm just trying to find this out as my bank is saying I have to pay various a flat fees (depending on the amount) to receive international transfers...
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin go Down on: November 29, 2017, 11:12:16 PM
Do you reckon the drop had anything to do with the coindesk website crash today? I dunno how significant coindesk's impact on the market would be but the price coincidently started to drop the moment the website went down for a few hours...
