Well I put the member on ignore. I didn't like the capitalised text, which seemed to be more of a demand than a request. The poster also appears to be one of the many who pollute the discussion board with generalised replies of little value.

I apologize for the thread of low value. Anyhow, my question was addressed already so I'll be closing the thread anytime soon. Wink

I can remember getting into trouble for putting "LAMP" in my profile, where LAMP stood for " Legendary Awaiting Merit Points". Well now I am a LUMP - Legendary Upranked by Merit Points. Smiley

I considered referring to myself as a LIMP - Legendary Inflated by Merit Points, but I decided thar was a bit derogatory.

Yeah, I saw that. Those who got you into trouble are just those people who hates the imposing of merit.

Who cares?
I actually think it's funny that this whole thing backfired on you op.
You try to expose someone for merit begging when you do the exact same thing? Very very low if you ask me.

Who cares? Maybe some who does not want to break any rules. Also, if you don't care, why the hell did you comment here? You're just spamming your signature here.

No backfire happened, I wear a 12-inch titanium armor Tongue

Have you really read the discussion here? This is not exposing, this is asking. Get lost imbecile spammer.
Asking? Do you really need approval or do you just expect to receive merits for your great contribution to the community? Roll Eyes
What do you care if a 19 year old Filipino girl asks for merit in her profile? Did she do something to you, or maybe she didn't? Get a life, Gestapo time is over.
And why the insults? Did I hit a nerve?
The fact is you're a merit beggar yourself and we see it every time you post (spam you said?) Tongue

LOL, is this thread merit-worthy in your opinion? Or does this contributes anything at all? You're just making a big deal out of this
It happens that her PT caught my attention, so?
An insult? That was a fact man Roll Eyes
Oh c'mon. I don't beg for Merit. Every merit I have was given to me because they thought I deserved it.
Do you even know what's the definition of spam is? Roll Eyes
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin future? on: July 14, 2018, 04:19:11 PM
What is your toughts with Bitcoin,
Can government stop bitcoin?

I personally think that the government cannot stop Bitcoin. If they can then they should've stopped Bitcoin already and yet Bitcoin is still alive and kicking. They can just ban it in their jurisdiction and nothing more. Regulations may be imposed but the mere fact remains that the government cannot stop Bitcoin.
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin back on track? on: July 14, 2018, 04:16:38 PM
Do you really think that bitcoin will really reach 9k this year or more ?

9k USD is close to our current price and we are just on the entrance of third quarter. Historical data states that the increase in Bitcoin's price happens mostly on the third and fourth quarter of every year. This would mean that there's still a good chance on reaching 9k USD. The historical data also dictates that the increase in third and fourth quarter could be x3. This, then, states the likelihood of getting close to the recent ATH of Bitcoin. However, they are just historical data. It does not mean that it will happen this year.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How useful is bounty programs to the overall success of icos? on: July 14, 2018, 02:11:31 PM
Is bounty programs impacting negatively or positively to the success of icos?

ICOs and the project it represents uses bounty program in order to advertise their ICO. Advertisement is a very crucial part of this so that many people will know about that project. The wider the advertisement goes, the higher the potential of success for the ICO. Would companies launch ICO is this will impact them negatively? Of course not.
25  Other / Meta / Re: [PARODY] The Infinity Snap. Bitcointalk edition? on: July 14, 2018, 01:52:31 PM
Or it could be done just with a prank from Theymos like hiding the bounty section for 24hours or a few days with a message "This board has been deactivated". This will really get rid (for real) of some spammers.

This is the best one yet Cheesy

And yet yahoo accept Members in joining his Signature Campaign. This is a very good approach in handling spam in the forum however, the suggestion will stay as a suggestion if no one starts implementing this. Considering that this is yahoo's idea, I expected that he's implementing this and yet he's not. Don't get me wrong, I am not against yahoo nor have any problem with him. Actually I idolize him for he is a reputable member here and also one of the great campaign managers. But his action contradicts with his words. Edited XD

Begging that is prohibited as indicated on the forum rules.

I don't know if this is prohibited but asking for merit is DM is prohibited and may end you in red negative trust.. I have learned my lesson.

I already know that because I've read the thread about Merit the day it was posted and Theymos made himself clear about it.

Too bad for you. Merits and Rank are not important around here as they are just merely what they are.
29  Other / Meta / Re: Do you consider this as begging? on: July 13, 2018, 05:00:06 PM
I thought someone will use my own words against me. That personal message is not begging for Merit. I can justify that by quoting threads that states "Donations are appreciated" with BTC/ETH address included. If my personal message is considered begging then people with "Donations bla bla bla" are also begging.
I don't think this kind of message is necessary as you don't need to "allow" anyone to merit you. If you deserve merit, people will merit you.

It's not begging but I really dislike this kind of behavior.

I think it is not allowing, it's "encouraging" Roll Eyes
I appreciate the opinion and is duly noted.

Others may see it differently, but I don't see this as begging.  What I consider begging is sending PMs asking for merits and asking for merits in threads.  What this guy is doing is probably just as bad, but I see it as basically the same as asking for a donation in your signature, and I've seen that a number of times and those people don't get tagged for begging.  And I doubt this person is going to get a tag for having a merit request in a signature.

Having said that, it's annoying that people want something for nothing.  Give me merit, just because I should have it.  Meanwhile he's a typical shitposter of the "bitcoin has a bright future" variety and is posting in shitty spam megathreads where nobody is earning merit.  I'm sure he doesn't realize where the problem is.
It's not begging I don't think, just as people who put their bitcoin address in their PT and ask for donations or whatever.
Dammit, you beat me to it!

Others seeing this differently is the main reason why I asked. I, personally, see this as begging based from the context. I don't intend him/her be tagged since he/she would eventually tagged if a DT member see his/her post. Nonetheless, approval from reputable person here is what I seek and was addressed.

EDIT

I thought someone will use my own words against me. That personal message is not begging for Merit. I can justify that by quoting threads that states "Donations are appreciated" with BTC/ETH address included. If my personal message is considered begging then people with "Donations bla bla bla" are also begging.

Quite the same, from my perspective, and since your asking for personal opinion, to me there is an unnecessary statement, a lack of elegance. For instance, I will not merit you if I read that in your profile, as I wouldn't merit the other guy, for I truly dislike this kind of behaviour (again, my personal opinion).

I don't think this kind of message is necessary as you don't need to "allow" anyone to merit you. If you deserve merit, people will merit you.

It's not begging but I really dislike this kind of behavior.

Totally, I just can't see the point. I don't know, every time I see this kind of messages into a profile information I use to think "This guy is just seeking for merits in every thread he creates", so no merit from me. It is against the merit spirit, from my perspective.

As they say, people are entitled to their opinions and I respect yours.
30  Other / Meta / Re: Do you consider this as begging? on: July 13, 2018, 04:41:54 PM
Not against the rules, but a DT member will probably neg trust him because of this.
Well, this is just pathetic. By this, probably the user will end in the ignored list of many so he will not receive a single merit
This is not the first case of this stupid behavior I've seen, it is, actually, kind of common.

EDIT: eeeehmmm... man, you are doing quite the same:

I thought someone will use my own words against me. That personal message is not begging for Merit. I can justify that by quoting threads that states "Donations are appreciated" with BTC/ETH address included. If my personal message is considered begging then people with "Donations bla bla bla" are also begging.

EDIT
You could just PM him (or her) and tell them it's frowned upon and that they should consider removing it. I'd rather it there than in posts though. It's not begging I don't think, just as people who put their bitcoin address in their PT and ask for donations or whatever. Nobody will probably give them merit just like nobody would send anyone bitcoin donations.

I appreciate your insight about this. However, isn't it much worse in PT than in a post? It is as if he/she is showing the text whenever he/she goes.

32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption can save lives now! on: July 13, 2018, 04:09:12 PM

Agreed, but adoption of Bitcoin will reduce "Cash" on your premises and this will reduce cash transports. If you were a robber and you had to chose a target between a merchant that are cash only and another merchant that has a "Bitcoin accepted here" sticker in the window, which one will you target?

I'd go to the merchant with "Bitcoin accepted here" sticker. Robbery, well for pros, always have planning before they go robbing any banks or merchants. They familiarize themselves on the establishment, where to go, where are the money, etc. So if a robber will rob a merchant that accepts Bitcoin, he has to know where the device and what device to take. This may sound absurd but having Bitcoin instead of cash is very much profitable for the robber Roll Eyes Grin
33  Economy / Economics / Re: important point on: July 13, 2018, 03:51:48 PM
government that prohibits bitcoin in some countries. If the government can accept the existence of bitcoin there are some important points in it:
* can pay off the "debt" of the country
* Improve the economy of the people
* Decrease in poverty level
I want to know what you think.

Nope, nope, and a big nope. Let me elaborate this for you.

Quote
can pay off the "debt" of the country

If your logic here is that an individual or a company could pay its debt when they have Bitcoin (assuming that the price is sky high) then a country could pay its debt, then you are thinking way off. Country debts are ridiculously high. We are talking millions or billions of dollars. How would you propose a government to have Bitcoins, by buying? And from where are they going get the funds, from their national funds? And how long will they wait for Bitcoin to sky rocket, a year? 5, 10? There are many at stakes here. So NO.

Quote
Improve the economy of the people

The basics of "the rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer" still implies here. A currency could never improve an economy.

Quote
Decrease in poverty level

Not in a million years. Please wake up and come back to the reality please. Day by day the world is worsening. More and more people are experiencing poverty. And how could a digital currency aid poverty? Bitcoin does not give a damn about the economic status of anyone so it cannot help remove poverty.

Probably the best post I could see right now. Yes, I also agree with this. Those countries are just banning them because they are just too scared that people may rely on themselves rather than the government itself.

Oh please. Are you high or something? A post with so much inaccuracy is the best post you see right now? LOL

Optimism, blinds more people than I expected. Roll Eyes
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which one do you choose? on: July 13, 2018, 02:49:05 PM
Many of us use bitcoin only in exchange/trading site, while bitcoin should be more used in marketplace/online shop. Which one do you choose? Do you prefer to use bitcoin on a trading site or marketplace/online shop? And why do you chose that?

If you use Bitcoin on trading sites, you could earn some Bitcoins in return. On the contrary, if you use Bitcoin on online shops or marketplace, you're just spending them. What would you choose, earning or spending? That was a trick question, of course the answer is both. So there's no point choosing over the two. Trade so you could earn more Bitcoin and spend the Bitcoin you earned on whatever you want to buy. That's what life is.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of hacks, whats the solution? on: July 13, 2018, 01:58:09 PM
its been half of 2018 and we have seen a lot hacks issue in crypto industry, exchanges, pools, traders everybody is being affected by this hacks.

what is the solution as i see hackers will not leave this chance as this industry is still in development mode( early stage).

is DEX are solutions for traders, let me know !
BTC

Higher level of security would lessen the risk of hacks. It will not give guarantee that you won't be hacked but the fact that it lessen the odds, it's worth the shot. Individual hacks/wallet hacks could be handled by securing private keys by writing it in a paper and not storing it in a PC or phone. Exchanges should increase their security by having some algorithm that could encrypt their server password. They could provide multiple levels of security so if one is penetrated, another wall is there to block. There are many ways of increasing security for software based systems and exchanges should take security in one of the top priorities.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there was a Bitcoin Transaction Confirmation time within 1 minute on: July 12, 2018, 01:07:35 PM
The use of Bitcoin is spreading in different areas of the day. This is true but it is not possible to use it in many cases due to the Bitcoin Transaction Confirmation time. It is not possible to provide Bitcoin immediately after buying products from Soaps. There are many such sectors that are not able to get Bitcoin due to the long-term transition time.

You look at a little matter.

I have been saying things like this in the past. Bitcoin is definitely not practical for face to face transaction such as buying of soaps in your statement. Some Altcoins are more suitable for this kind of application. However, all of this is just for now. Bitcoin's minimum time in mining a block is 10 minutes as per its algorithm SHA-256. When the algorithm is enhanced, we might see significant improvement to Bitcoin's transaction.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Kudos to the higher ranked members. on: July 12, 2018, 12:50:44 PM
Sorry but, for the record, the rank in this forum does not justify anything. The only metric for rank, then, is the activity count (now including merit) and not knowledge. You might have seen high ranked members here with fruitful knowledge but I have seen some high ranked that are stupid and just talks about nonsense. I hope you are aware that most of the lower rank accounts here have high rank accounts. Thus, rank is not entitled to knowledge. Rank are just ranks, nothing more with a lot of less.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exhausting Scammers! on: July 11, 2018, 03:21:07 PM
What do you think we can do to prevent or stop such scam projects or people that imitates us?
And what are your experience with them? and what did you do?

I have been in a bounty which in the end turned out to be a scam. I immediately removed my signature upon knowing that in order to stop advertising scam projects. I hate being used by others into something that could stain my reputation. I have no concrete procedure on how to know what project is legit and what is a scam. Even campaign managers are being fooled so if they are fooled, there's no doubt many will be fooled as well.

For those who are using someone's account just to cheat, I report them to campaign manager. I scan the spreadsheet one by one just to verify each entry. Yes, I scan the spreadsheet one by one, literally. I do not want cheaters in a bounty I am participating  Grin
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: do ethereum compete with bitcoin? on: July 11, 2018, 03:10:16 PM
it can beat bitcoin, bitcoin has market gone down, because buyers are buying less bitcoin, they are checking other bitcoins, which is good and highest price.

Other Bitcoins? There is but one Bitcoin and that is Bitcoin. You might be talking about altcoins.

Etherium might have a chance in beating Bitcoin since it provides much faster transactions and less transaction fee. This, though, is still a difficult thing to speculate since Bitcoin is still the dominant coin.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM WALLET , BE ATTENTION on: July 11, 2018, 02:58:41 PM
Bottom line:
Do not get greedy.

Scammers are outsmarting people by placing taunting baits to desperate people. Being desperate in earning or accumulating tokens with high value could blind you. You know that that wallet/private key is not yours and a moral person will never try to steal tokens in that wallet. Due to greediness, the retaliation is instant.
