That said, I still agree that hidden mining via private FPGAs - and even ASICs - is a potentially serious problem, and that forking every few months to head them off is not, perhaps, as practical of a solution as I once thought it was. That doesn't excuse the haphazard way the DERO team decided to stick with CN, nor the hamfisted way it has dealt with those of us who were deeply disappointed at this abrupt change of face.
I am sorry many got fire though not to be. But team tried to explain all and keep calm until few tried to cross all the limits of decency. Mining, books can be written on this subject and lots have changed since the beginning. @MagicSmoker there are not much genuine cpu/gpu miners left like you. Time has changed. Also Hashrate is much smoother and better now. Plans for brining FPGA solutions too in the DERO network. |

If I understand correctly a new blockchain for Dero has just been released? Could someone please sum up details and implications?
The new blockchain changes from the old traditional PoW blockchain, to a new custom DAG-PoW blockchain. This has enabled extremely fast block times, currently averaging around 10 seconds, with much increased tps capabilities, i think it was somewhere around 500 something, and is scalable based on resources. It has implemented bulletproofs to reduce transaction sizes. Increased resistance to attacks, supposedly truly eliminated double spending, shadow addresses, and eliminated orphan blocks. I mean, it's one of the biggest upgrades in all of crypto right now and nobody knows about it lol, and others well they're too busy getting worked up over the ASIC resistance debate. Why was a banned for raising valid concerns shared by the community?
I was in the chat at the same time and you did the same that you do here: just not accept it and move on. After people heard the news, people came to chat to ask questions or voice their opinion. After a bit of discussion, they would accept the dev decision or not and leave. But people like you would not stop. Its Ok to voice your opinion. But its not Ok to try to dominate the chat to get devs to change their decision. You would complain and ask the same questions over and over again. You started to complain in the morning and where still typing the same things in the evening . You want to have everybody to have your point of view and the devs change their decision. But the devs wont change and that was obvious. You were getting on the nerves of the other users (the silent majority + the people that are OK with the algo) In addition to above. Team showed ultimate patience in handling several others with many other queries, questions and support. Everyone knows there is no such supportive team as DERO in crypto world. |

I think when you are in alpha version and almost constantly producing new builds, it just slows you down keeping track of file naming versioning  I have nothing to add, I know exactly what I'm writing, 20 years a day I'm producing a code. I do not know exactly what you are advocating. xxx_001, xxx_002, xxx_003 ....? it is enough to note the working name in the description in download page I will not participate in the wacky wars! I write these remarks because I am interested in the project being developed in the right direction, based on personal experience. Ok, fine, no problem, not trying to pick a fight. Just trying to offer a rational explanation for observed behaviour. I imagine the dev team are working under extreme time pressure right now and are just not doing stuff they consider non-essential. However if you have different explanation for observed behaviour feel free to offer it. @pegos, you are absolutely right. As @fellestreum said is right but will definitely add in coming releases. |

bothers me, that versions are not numbered, there is a terrible mess ... synchronization is really much faster than yesterday! Everything is version-ed internally. Use version cmd/syncinfo cmd in testnet daemon to see versions. |

Atlantis testnet in action:Truly amazing to see fast confirmation times of around 11 blocks / ~99 seconds. Parameters have lots of room for tuning as usual. Also along with bolt-database badger-database is also supported now. In future mysq/postgresql will be added for enterprise loads etc...    Rgrds. Captain

DERO-DAG is mineable, POW based, fully linear with same level of security as blockchain. No orphans, scalability limits defined by resources(Compute, Network, Storage etc.) Client Protocol: It handles same transactions mined by two different miners in different blocks mostly due to luck/Network lag. Bulletproofs: Smaller transaction sizes for CryptoNote Protocol. Ultra Compact Blocks: Faster block propagation times and low network usage. Core progress on track. Explorer, wallets too are being re-written to handle Atlantis. In another 15 days Atlantis will be released for alpha-tests and Hopefully before next monthly update we would be on Atlantis. Rd.
