21  Other / Off-topic / Get drinkable water from rain on: February 06, 2021, 10:56:15 PM
For the preppers prepping to live off grid.

I am thinking about a technique to get drinkable and mineral-rich water without having to dig a hole/well in the ground nor going to the mountains.
We will do rain water desalination without  distillation, enrichment with minerals and purification from bad bacteria.
All of this thanks to soil and silver.

First step: put several of these tall plastic vases outside.
Should be 1-2 mt tall, not necessarily large.
See img 1:

See img 2:

As you can see, they have a faucet and a double bottom.
The highest bottom has many holes in it,  I'll explain why later.

Fill the vase with soil and put a plant on it. The plant will absorb any toxic substances from the soil, and the salt in excess as well.
See img 3:

When the rain (or other saline water) falls on the vases, it then goes down passing through the soil which filters it from salt. And the soil also enriches the water with good minerals.
The tallest the vase the better!  Because there would be more soil to filter and enrich the water.
Then the water will fall down through the holes and collect at the bottom of the vase.
See img 4:

At this point we can get some water from the faucet when we need to drink.

There will be traces of dirt in the water, that we should prevent from getting into our glass.
How ?
The faucet must be placed at least 10cm away from the bottom,  because the traces of dirt are heavier than the water, so they will fall to the bottom leaving the water above it clean.

Final step: put a silver coin in your glass and wait 30mins (maybe less? Let me know ).
That will kill bad bacteria and you can now drink!

Let me know if it can work
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / They say Bitcoin is a waste of electricity on: February 06, 2021, 09:38:06 AM
Stop this nonsense of the Jew media accusing Bitcoin to be polluting, for the electricity it consumes.

Oligarchs and other powerful people run industries 1000x more polluting than Bitcoin.

And they just try to ban Bitcoin with excuses, because they don't like the idea of monetary freedom for the people.

What to say about pesticides (Monsanto), fossil fuel, industrial waste, electrosmog, chemtrails, etc.?
They don't talk about those of course, but try to stop Bitcoin even if it is orders of magnitude less polluting.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 06, 2021, 09:27:54 AM
It means they fear Bitcoin!
This proves Bitcoin is effective, as a competitor  to their monetary systems.

Hail Bitcoin and stick with it

If they accuse you for holding Bitcoin,
what evidence do they have?
Maybe that you transferred BTC from an exchange?
Tell them you sent the coins to another person,  not to yourself.

And when you spend Btc to make a purchase  online ,  pretend that it was not you sending them, but you asked another person  to  do the transaction for you.

How can they prove it's not true?

Great info!
That appraisal site then gives a standard reference for everybody.
So with that site everything will be pretty much as simple as evaluating gold
Market rate for art pieces can't be evaluated that much simple but as long as you find someone who knows the value of that watch then it can be a profitable investment but anyone consider buying Rolex as an investment? Like they really intented to make money when they sell it.

The site Chrono24 asks you if you ever worn it or not.
That means there is people that just keep the watch in the original case and never wears it.

Why? Obviously, for investment IMO
25  Other / Off-topic / Re: Rolex watches for investment on: February 04, 2021, 06:44:40 PM
Is it easy to buy Rolex watches and resell them after a few years at a higher price?
If so, how many years have to pass?
What % gain may i expect in 10 years? For gold&silver for example, we may expect at least a 10-20% increase

For investment gold it is easier to determine how much it is worth years later, because the price per oz is public, and you just multiply it by the weight of your coin/bullion.

But for watches it is not that simple.
A watch is like a piece of art, so i have no idea on how to estimate the value of a, say, Rolex from year 1990.

The same applies to jewelery stuff that you want to sell as-is ( as a crafted product, not based solely on the material ).

How can you evaluate , in general, the current value of a crafted product or piece of art with precious materials, that required also actual man work to be crafted, not just the material?

It's good to see that you're trying to diversify your investments, that is always a wise decision, so congratulations on that alone!

As for the question itself, from the looks of it, it seems that you hold no experience in this kind of field (watch appraisal mainly). In order to fully understand whatever piece that you may hold I think that you would have to go to specialized shops in order for them to give you an appraisal on the value of the watch itself. I know that for this you would have to get it before (so it could impact your decision) but it's either that or just establish a partnership with someone that could give you information , or even go with you to events where you could grab this watches and then it could feed you information about them.

This website, for example, gives you an estimate on what the value of the watch might be considering its use and what documents it still holds - https://www.chrono24.co.uk/info/valuation.htm

Great info!

27  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid to make invoices on: January 28, 2021, 03:24:49 PM
India is high taxation apparently. But i have taken just a quick read online. Have to check it out.

Indonesia and PH, i have to check.

Also, i did not say 10k $ per month, but per year.

Likely will be a little more, between 12000 and 15000

30  Economy / Services / Get paid to make invoices on: January 28, 2021, 11:43:21 AM
Are you from a low taxation country?
e.g. Bangladesh, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Bermuda, etc. see the list here https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/051915/corporate-tax-rates-highs-and-lows.asp

I am a software developer in a high taxation country. I am going to provide you some earnings with minimal efforts.
You just have to sell my IT talent to my clients worldwide (i already have them, you don't have to find them).

You (or your accountant) will make an invoice every month, and receive the payment for my development service,
plus your taxes, your expenses and some margin, so that you gain something too.

Then you pay me my part, with no need to have a formal contract with me.
You can pay me e.g. in crypto directly, even if i don't have a contract with you.

My part will usually be $800 - $900 a month, maximum $1500.
So the invoice you will make every month will be:
 My part (e.g. $800) +
your taxes in your country +
 your accountant fees (e.g. $50/month?) +
 your earning margin ( e.g. $20, $50, $100? You decide)

Let me know what's your country, estimate taxes on $10000/year income (maybe even $12000) ,
your accountant costs and your desired margin.

Let's discuss preferably in PM, but here is ok.
I give preference to reputable posters.

32  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The new cash: Gold & silver POWDER on: December 29, 2020, 09:18:15 AM
I agree with the concerns about dust.

Ok, we can solve the divisibility problem even using coins. Just use copper as well, not just gold and silver.
So that you spend gold/silver coins for big purchases, and copper for coffee etc.

About testing at home, what do you think about these ( they cost a few hundred bucks, reasonable ) :

And this one would be suitable for a shop https://www.amazon.com/JIAWANSHUN-Electronic-Densimeter-Analyzer-Testing/dp/B013JOTC1Q/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=silver+analyzer&qid=1609232989&sr=8-2
or this https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/gold-purity-testing-machine-22714059191.html

Shops may even be used as a third party for direct transactions between people. We meet at a shop, i give you my coins, the shop analyzes them , and we pay a commission to the shop.

My concern is, do these machines analyze the internal part of the coin as well? Smart people may put a different metal inside the coin, which passes the magnet test, and gold only on top.
33  Other / Serious discussion / The new cash: Gold & silver POWDER on: December 28, 2020, 04:45:45 PM
<<They>> will ban cash sooner or later. We will be left with just digital money ( cryptocurrencies , paypal, banks, ... ).

But digital has 2 drawbacks:
- can be hacked!
- traceable ( although cryptos are not, especially privacy-focused ones )

We really need something to replace cash, which is physical and can be spent at local shops.
I dream of a world where people go to shops, and buy goods with gold/silver powder.

The shops would have a device which analyzes the powder you put in, to verify it is actual gold and not something else.
There will be also a weight scale that tells you also how much your powder is worth, to match with the exact price of the good/service you are buying.
Before that, people need something to grind gold/silver coins/bars into powder.

You cannot buy a coffee with a bullion!
That's why we need precious metals to be divisible, to become suitable payment methods.

Is there some kind of gold grinder for home use? Otherwise you have to go to a workshop, and it would be not practical.
Is there also any machine that can automate gold & silver analysis?

Maybe for gold powder it's easy: you just look at the color and then use a magnet to divide real gold from, say, tungsten.
For silver powder you may use a magnet and then do the ice cube test. The problem is that test is too time-consuming. Not very practical to do at a shop.

Any thoughts?
34  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Vanity addresses are unsafe on: August 18, 2020, 11:01:41 PM
If i , with my humble PC, am able to generate a vanity address in reasonable time ...
then a team of hackers with a cluster of PCs can generate all the possible vanity addresses, and constantly monitor them for stealing the funds as soon as they receive a tx.

All the addresses that begin with any keyword like "GIFT" or any business name like "bitstamp" are a very infinitesimal fraction of all possible addresses, so this attack is feasible for a moderately equipped hacker team.
35  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin Core: can it show OP_RETURN data on the GUI ? on: August 18, 2020, 10:56:06 PM

What are the wallets that do that ?
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a correlation between price and major wallet upgrades? on: July 04, 2020, 01:44:16 PM
Wallet upgrades only matters when they are creating a good impact on the overall performance of the coin.
If the upgrade improves the performance then there are chances that the coin will surge in price because then it creates more usability.
For example the upgrade of ethereum 2.0 will bring new advances to ether which is why ether's price is expected to rise before the upgrade.

But this does not mean that every wallet upgrade will surge the price of the coin since there are so many shit coins in the market.
Not every upgrade will bring better features. Sometimes the upgrade just creates a havoc for an existing better product.

This is very valuable info.

So, investing in Litecoin now is unlikely to give profits due to privacy integration in September, because it's not a usability improvement.
And privacy is only appreciated by a niche.

So i better buy some Eth and wait for Phase 0 integration this year
37  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is there a correlation between price and major wallet upgrades? on: July 03, 2020, 06:27:58 PM
Beginning of 2020: BSV wallet ver. 2 released => price surged

A few months later: Reddcoin and Cardano had major upgrades => price surged for both

A couple of other cases like those happened for some of the top 100 coins this year, so i wonder if there is likely to be a pump before a major upgrade, if the project in question is among the ones with the most market cap.

Now, the next big upgrade we are waiting for is privacy integration into Litecoin ( estimated release: fall 2020 ).

So can we expect the LTC price to surge in September/October ?
38  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Argentina-based marketplace: southxchange.com on: June 06, 2020, 04:40:48 PM
Yes, you can trade there without KYC, but it's not hard to find other exchanges that do not require KYC. What I really like about this one is the fact that the BTC withdrawal fees are the lowest I could find, only 10k satoshis. Usually, the exchanges have 0,001 which seems too high for my taste.

Can you give some examples? Smiley
thanks
39  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to earn money out of nothing? on: May 24, 2020, 08:49:24 AM
OP your answer is wrong.
"out of nothing" means out of nothing.
Having to work is not an option then.

Anyway there is an actual way of getting income with no investment and no work needed.
There are emerging projects that let you get a basic income in some alternative currency, called a Community Currency or complementary currency.

If you are just a member of a certain community, you get free money everyday loaded on your account for doing nothing. If you work, of course, you can earn more.

The problem now is that such projects are many and scattered around the world, and their currencies are not "compatible" with each other, i.e. you cannot spend one of those currencies in a community other than the one that rules that currency.

So you can only use it to buy goods in a specific community.
Maybe there will be some kind of forex exchange to solve this interoperability problem.

They sell Amazon gift cards at the same price they are worth, in Bitcoin.
So how do they make profit?

They sell also other gift cards , but with a little overcharge, like the Walmart cards cost 8% more. But why the Amazon ones have no overcharge? (Which are even the ones they sell the most)
