21  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Service "snapCard" - purchase anything online with BTC? on: December 28, 2013, 09:29:07 PM
snapcard is far from a scam, at least they came through for me. They are trying to reach OP:
---
Really sorry, but we're trying to address a user concern who has claimed to not have yet received a refund from us for a product of $800. I want to address this with them, but can't post on the bitcointalk forum.
Trying to speak to them and sort it out but can't contribute on that forum.
I wanted to clarify, we've never scammed anyone, nor do we intend on doing so.
Every person who has had a disappointing experience with us has either had their product purchase fees waived, or in some cases, received the product for free.
We're trying extremely hard to separate ourselves from any scams associated with BTC or anything.
The case in question we've been in communication with the customer promptly responding to the emails as soon as possible, we've provided receipt for the transaction refund we issued to them but we still want to resolve all of this. Please feel free to bring this to the attention on the BTC thread so we can help resolve this please.
Thank you and Happy Holidays.

22  Economy / Speculation / Re: China blocks BTC Guild, bitminter and Slush Pools? on: December 19, 2013, 09:55:27 PM
If this is true it will bring down the difficulty a lot,  right?
I don't think so.
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: China blocks BTC Guild, bitminter and Slush Pools? on: December 19, 2013, 09:00:34 PM

Sure, I'll just need you to supply root access to 1000 computers and we can get started.

 Grin

I guess what I'm actually asking for is that. Someone willing to rent out their bot net.

29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 15, 2013, 02:38:08 PM
What other measure would you guys suggest to meet existing legal requirements? Trying to convince lawmakers that bitcoin should be anonymously traded is an absolute non-starter. If that is the foundation's opinion then bitcoin may be declared illegal and the tracking of coins will move to law enforcement. So, what are our other options?

NOTHING. Mikes Proposed change is unacceptable.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 15, 2013, 02:16:38 AM
This is just the beginning.
Satoshi would be ashamed.

its so sad too, because Satoshi reached out to Mike to get him more involved (as I understand it). Now he appears to be looking to effectively kill the whole thing.

Q: I'm not technically savvy, but wouldn't the solution be CryptoLocker counter-measures on client computers?
A: (Mike's own words) "That's certainly a solution yes, but unfortunately it's sort of like saying the solution to burglary is having locks ondoors and windows, so we don't need the police."

And this guy is important for bitcoin? SMDH.

Have we heard from Mr. Hearn today?
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vote No for Coin Validation! on: November 14, 2013, 10:13:52 PM
There's no good reason for it except to get some large retailers to accept it, but it will obviously undermine the relative anonymity of Bitcoin. Personally, I would never do it.
Sure there is. To make Yifu's coins worth more!!
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammed by Coinbase :/ on: November 14, 2013, 06:05:45 PM
They haven't done this to "instant" buyers, only delayed, correct?
Instant buyers get coin instantly.

source: I am instant verified. Feel bad for the folks unable to get coins during this run.
34  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammed by Coinbase :/ on: November 14, 2013, 06:04:57 PM
I think Coinbase is pretty bad. I had a problem with them before and it took them 6 days to respond to an email. They should really get their support team in shape.
They sought applications for remote based support team, never called anyone back from what ive seen. A shame, if more orders could be filled the price would be even higher right now.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 14, 2013, 05:39:29 PM
Like it or not, bitcoin regulation IS coming to the USA. If you want to be heard then write. Not here, write your representatives. If you want no regulation then write your own code and fork the chain. Maybe someone will use your alt-coin.
Bitcoin will be the shittiest alt-coin if what you say is true.

It's not happening.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 14, 2013, 05:30:00 PM
I vaguely remember a concept called "economic majority" by which the network can only undergo a huge upheavel like this is a majority of the users agree with it. Who gave the right to the bitcoin foundation to dictate these changes anyway?

I am passionate about the free market. It is my hope that in the event this change is implemented, a fork of the bitcoin project will occur and a huge majority of users will switch to it.
he, and the foundation, still have to answer to the miners.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 14, 2013, 05:22:57 PM
Let Mike just keep quiet about this in public.
We haven't heard anything from law enforcement yet.  Wait until we hear from the panel in the upcoming Senate hearings.  If they suggest controls, then it will be time to consider options.  Otherwise, we have no need to implement a blacklist, redlist, or any other restriction.

There is NO SCENARIO in which Mike Hearn's suggestion make one iota of sense for Bitcoin.

I can't believe what I'm reading him say honestly.

It is 1% if you can't afford that then don't use it! 1% is like a little more than a transaction fee. UGH people like this aren't resourceful, you choose to be ignorant and look what happened.

just thought i'd chime in here and say that 1% is not even close to a tx fee.
