Personally I think you're just asking for trouble. Taking in other peoples money for shares in pre-orders to pay for more pre-orders. That's just a step too far. Wait until you have something, then put together a pitch. You have nothing, so you're offering a share in nothing with the promise you'll invest the money in more of nothing.

dito. listen to this man. because that is what you offer boils down to

Whether these things start shipping at the beginning/end of the month is going to make a huge difference....

That is exactly my concern I have asked knc if they can specify First or Second part of October for new orders. here is the reply:

"...New paid order are expected to ship in October. We cannot provide a more exact date than that at the moment.
Let us know if you have further questions.
Med vänlig hälsning  |  Best regards

Keith Gurnett
Kncminer
www.kncminer.com
Office: +46 8559 253 20"

so my next question was will they issue a refund if they could not ship by the mid October. here is the reply.

"... You can request a refund on orders up until shipping starts.  Let us know if you have further questions.

Med vänlig hälsning  |  Best regards

so, if they start shipment in September and your unit is not shipped in late October (if you order now) you cannot get refund.  Sad

So KnC has been relatively quiet lately?

I really wish more of these ASIC people were transparent.  Undecided

They spoke a week ago, do you need daily communication?

A week ago I knew nothing about mining. Cry
so what did they say?
all is a OK!

I am still on the fence about placing an order for Jupiter. Lack of any updated and specs and possibility of delay and loosing out play against me droping 7K on it especially if shipment will be late October.

Hashfast at least has specs on the site, costs 1k less for same 400G/h power, is based in US and states the delivery date in October 20-30

Your thoughts on Jupiter v Baby Jet ?  Huh

And hashfast has anything more than KNC?  They are exactly the same at this point. Nothing shown = nothing. ROI's are 4 months and counting...

So very true. Both can turn up to be a waste of dough.
Can you elaborate on you ROI comment. So far the most pessimistic calculations predict ROI within 2 months or so.

WAITING seems like a safe bet for now, although a bit painful because it puts more folks with less sense in front of me in the sipping order... sigh

When can we realistically expect to see a prototype running?

It seems like its time for a significant update from KnC to include a more definitive timeline with specific milestones -- the way difficulty is going, Sept. 1 is a lot different from Sept. 30.

I'm hoping KnC continues to set the bar high with regard to customer communication.

My thoughts exactly. Would be nice to see a working unit and get exact shipping dates especially if you considering (like me) buying now an getting it in October.

so from all I have learned if I by KnCminer Jupiter today (estimated delivery October) and the difficulty increases about %15 every 10 days I might make about 4-5K correct?

the negatives the way I see them are:

- with no proven product who knows if KnC will deliver
- if KnC will be late by 20 days I will lose money
- if difficulty increases by more than %15 (which is likely given that most of the units will be delivered in September) I will lose money

the only positive is if BTC increases in value but I cannot bet on this

Question is it worth to given the negatives to get KnC (ie spend 7k) for remote possibility of 4K profit?
29  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it still worth it to buy the KNC Jupiter? on: August 08, 2013, 03:57:12 PM
If I were to buy Jupiter now the shipment would be in October (I have contacted KnC and they cannot specify when in October) will it make sense considering most of the orders will be already delivered in September.

Ok guys thanks for the input thus far. I did some more research and feel relieved that I have found this board before I spend $ on butterfly labs. I have found that a company in Sweden is taking orders on their rigs that are far more powerful and economical. At this moment I am considering getting a Saturn rig from them (not interested in alt coins at yet). I have noticed that many members from this forum have placed an order already. So what do you guys think about that move. My main concerns are:

will KnCminer deliver as promised
will I be smart enough to hook it up and get it online (I assume it is ready out of box)
how long it will be before the rig gets unprofitable because of increased difficulty levels etc.
will the bitcoin hold its current value and not decrease in near future

Hello,

I got interested in bitcoins as an alternative to fiat currencies and supplement to precious metals stockpile. I have no IT background whatsoever but am interested about putting together a mining rig (or getting ready made one ie Butterfly Labs) any suggestions or words of wisdom are welcome.
