21  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Need PSU Suggestions for 3 HD5850's and 1 HD5870 please on: June 18, 2011, 06:19:01 PM
I'm running 4x 5830s oc'd on a Thermaltake TPX-775M  64a@12v,  pulling 660w.   Tigerdirect has them for 70 after rebate.

Asrock has no real warranty, you have to deal with store for warranty.
I won't be buying another asrock anytime soon.
24  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830s selling out - no more at Newegg on: June 08, 2011, 11:26:25 PM
If anyone is desperate frys has 5830s@$129 (after $50 rebate)

don't bother asking about the 5850s they have "exhausted all available fulfillment resources"
25  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~600 gH/sec] on: June 08, 2011, 07:58:12 AM
Does the current reward & total round share count seem off to anyone else?
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dual 5830's on AMD 939 nForce4 SLI Motherboard? on: June 07, 2011, 08:27:38 AM
Well damn there goes that 2x gpu rig.
I guess I'll be running singles until I can get some adapters or a dual x16 slot mb, and try to compensate for the extra power usage.
I put in a request for an updated bios before putting this system to rest, but I doubt that will happen.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dummy plugs in XP? on: June 07, 2011, 08:13:46 AM
GUIMiner shows "Cypress
  • " and my CPU only. I shouldn't need the Crossfire cable or anything like that right?
No just a dummyplug or 2nd monitor, and extending the desktop to the 2nd monitor/dummy for the 2nd gpu to show up for opencl
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dummy plugs in XP? on: June 07, 2011, 07:46:03 AM
Both cards show up in device manager, they're both available in Afterburner, but GUIMiner doesn't see them and if I try to manually launch a miner on the 2nd GPU from command prompt it doesn't work. Am I going to be stuck running to Radio Shack tomorrow?

Not only that but you can only oc the 1st gpu, I wasted too much time installing xp trying to figure that out and then installing vista.

29  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowest power consumption - intel socket 1366 on: June 07, 2011, 05:45:59 AM
You want to downclock, and undervolt the cpu as much as you can while still being stable, and maybe disable extra cpu cores if that is an option.
I don't have that chip or that board, so I can't help you much beyond that. good luck
30  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~550 gH/sec] on: June 07, 2011, 03:08:25 AM
I kinda disagree bitlackey. Have you seen the block stats:   http://btcguild.com/blocks.php   keep in mind the pools hash speed has only been around 500 MHash/sec and those numbers look damn good!  I earned 2.9 BTC in 24 hour period from 4pm to 4am yesterday with my 1.0 Gigahash setup.
Maybe its just my luck then, every time I try switching over I get lots of idles or disconnects, and the rounds go on for 2-3+ hours, every time so far, including the last round.
Ok I'm giving it another go, just watch the round take forever.
31  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~550 gH/sec] on: June 07, 2011, 02:50:59 AM
As soon as btcguild is stable again, and if its bad luck runs out I'll be switching back, but so far that hasn't been the case at least since the 2.... difficulty level
32  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Please submit accident reports on: June 04, 2011, 09:22:35 AM
I fried a power connector on my psu, plugged in a sata-pata adapter and somehow it shorted out.
loss of limbs: psu floppy connector
loss of life: sata-pata adapter,  dvd burner(untested/untrusted)
other injuries: appears to be contained locally to the floppy connector wire & pata adapter.
33  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830: "No OpenCL devices were found" (AMD APP SDK Installed) on: June 02, 2011, 04:23:31 AM
I ran into that issue before, uninstall the ati software and then reinstall it.
34  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: building a mining rig with $1800 on: May 31, 2011, 01:17:49 AM
also, from a mining standpoint, crossfire is bad idea. (degrades performance)
Crossfire hasn't made a difference in my numbers, opencl still uses each gpu individually, it just eliminates having to hookup another monitor or dummy plugs.
35  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Power supply enough for dual 5850? on: May 31, 2011, 12:21:46 AM
You should be fine, if you have any issues(ie, psu shuts down)try re-balancing the load more evenly across the 2x12v rails.

37  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Generated 2 blocks in an hour? on: May 30, 2011, 07:19:47 AM
been mining in a pool that pays directly with coins generated from solved blocks?

DeepBit, but i've never seen it say "Generated" before?

you tried out eligius servers? those match the last 2 blocks found http://eligius.st/~artefact2/
38  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 1x6990 and 2x6970 Crossfire on: May 29, 2011, 05:45:20 AM
if crossfire is irrelevant for mining, howcome i have to crossfire my cards for them to be accessible through guiminer on win7?

without crossfire you need a monitor on each card or dummy plugs, and then extend the display to those monitors to enable the gpus
39  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla = Fast on: May 27, 2011, 08:27:18 PM
I just made a transfer from dwolla to bank today. I'll see how fast it is.
next day...
40  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining rig dual 5830's Questions asked and your thoughts appreciated on: May 27, 2011, 06:15:51 AM
Well can I overclock it with my current setup as in with the current PSU?
I wouldn't recommend it, I'm taking a pretty big risk trusting that antec's overpower protection is worth a damn...

Are you sure you want to sink that much money though? I've pretty much stalled out at this point, I think its pretty much over or will be soon enough.

You're doing two OC'd 5830's on a 430w antec, corsair isn't exactly shitty and its 600w
My head isn't on straight tonight, I was thinking you were talking an existing/current psu.
If my antec with 12v@32amps is enough that corsair psu with 12v@40amps should be probably be ok.
