21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Released on: November 27, 2013, 06:23:47 AM

@nmak - I think we will keep just BTC and TAG (displayed in 1,000s of millitags shortly), and let people trade their crypto on other exchanges for TAG so they can use it in our platform. I don't really want to become yet another exchange, the trading site we have up there was just to get us going till we integrated something within the site. We will just have a buy and sell section within the TagBank area to make it easy for merchants and customers to quickly buy and sell TAG with their other fiat currency.

I think that is actually a good decision, what you are doing is complicated enough without trying to keep the ever changing world of cryptos happy. I would say you should only think about it in the coming years if there is any value add it would give your tagbond.

Hello Nhial,

Good news - your BTC are safe and sound.  Armory is based on a deterministic wallet.  That means that there is a "seed" and all the addresses are generated from that seed.  So if you had two computers with the same wallet - they would generate the same unique addresses even if they couldn't communicate...because they use the same seed.  If you have sent/received a transaction, that address will always show up when you import and view your wallet.  If you have other addresses without any transaction history, those won't necessarily be visible.  So you haven't lost BTC - you just don't see the unused addresses from the previous installation.  Great job for keeping a paper backup.  That backup will restore the wallet and any transaction history for that wallet, to include all the addresses created by that deterministic wallet.  So you don't have to create a new paper backup for every new address.  One backup per wallet.  So again, no worries - your BTC are still as safe as ever in Armory.  Be sure to encrypt your wallet and use offline storage for maximum protection.  Also, when you encrypt, be careful not to lose your password - it cannot be recovered if lost.

I hope this has helped answer some of your questions.  If you have others, don't hesitate to contact us here at Armory.  Thanks and have a great weekend!

Regard,

Matt

Great quick response. So it looks like all good.

I thought that might the response, and I am not convinced I need to add any more coins.. just getting asked by other coin creators to add...so would prefer to get options from others before making any kind of decision.. on the one hand each coin brings a community membership of their own to Tagbond, but on the other hand..a pain in the ass to deal with technically. But really, if someone wants to interact with Tagbond and TAG, they can always trade whatever they have for TAG..Smiley

Mark I would say that you definitely have to think about it, but i suspect its a thought process that will not have a completely definite and easy answer. Note that some( a fair amount) of your future clients that will use the tagbond system and tagcoins may actually come from the crypto community, whether its litecoins, feather e.t.c and they would have things that they want to have advertised in some shape or form. So you will likely have to add one or two, however that means the price for tagcoins is likely going to be pushed up in "proportion" to the demand from this other communities. In fact I am not surprised that it's already a dollar :-).

What happens with all the receiving addresses vs the backup made. If the receiving addresses are no longer showing up after reinstallation, does that mean I have lost the BTCs.
I have my one time paper backup, but I am just wondering whether that covers only the receiving addresses that existed at the time of the paper backup. Meaning that everytime you create a new receiving address, one needs to make a new paper backup.

I think I may have lost some btc bcoz of that  :-), hope not.

Funny, you should say that, i wouldn't mind a few of those RFIDs myself. I should have taken one or two off you at the Singapore conference so I can get feel for it. Always good to actually use something before considering recommending it to someone else.

Hi Guys,

This may be a bit off topic of the actual thread, but if so I am happy to be redirected to another thread. I sent J.R this but he probably is busy.

I am attending the asia bitcoin conference in 10 days and just realized that maybe there is something that I can do to spread the word regarding mastercoin. I managed to invest my 2 bitcoins in Mastercoin on the last day by some luck back then since I was not even aware crowdfunding was running at the time.  I am open to suggestions, I would have loved to give a speech regarding Mastercoin but I think those slots are filled.

"

If any of you have suggestions, i would be happy to consider them. You can send me a message to my inbox direct or just reply here(or both preferably).  Thanks and Happy Master-minting... Grin

Look forward to "masterminting" some fiat in the coming months. Damn... I guess this is how Bernanke must feel ... lol.  Wink

Funny thing I was tempted to buy at 0.03 while I sell at 0.2! I am a sick bastard...
Grin no dude, you are not sick - you just love yourself a bit.  But someone may need the Mastercoin badly enough and thus willing to pay that amount. Who knows your offer may end up being a real cheap one in the coming years ha ha. I am surprised how fast Mastercoin has risen, I invested funnily enough on the person(J.R willet - first) plus concept (second). I put my 2 out of 10 BTC that I had thinking I may never see anything back if it never succeeds.

Now those seem to be growing in value.... oah well..

ha ha I like that. Whether USD 1000 will buy one hamburger. It's hard to know but it can not be ruled out as a possibility.  I just can't wait till Bitcoin is used widely for remittance, from there it's anyone's guess how high it can go. I would love the defence of bitcoin to be one day something like ..."Are you trying to deny a poor person in the third world from benefiting from such a great technology." ...whenever politicians open their mouth and try fear mongering.  Does anyone have a summary somewhere of how all the colored coins ideas are performing around the bitcoin community. I was pleasantly surprised how fast Mastercoin(J.R. willet one) has gone up in value.

I honestly suspect it will likely suprise all of us. It's amazing how crazy markets can go, so don't rule out anything event bitcoin at $5,000 in less then 5  years. All it take is one financial tsumani that drives alot of people in a major western country. Although that is unlikely but given how busy the FED is, I kind of wonder.
