21  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't have Tether (USDT) wallet. Can I still use and trade it? on: April 27, 2018, 10:22:53 AM
Coinbase offers a centralized wallet and you only have your public address. If you are holding long term, it is preferable if you are using a cold storage or at least a desktop wallet like electrum or exodus that gives you access to your private keys. You can just leave few of the coins you may want to transact with in your coinbase wallet but not all you have.

Oh yes, so in that sense storing coins on coinbase is no different than storing it on exchanges. I have little knowledge on desktop wallets but as far as I know if I have the private key of my wallet stored somewhere safe and if someday my hard disk blows up, I can still get my wallet  and full balance back with the private key, is that correct? Also can I password protect the electrum software?

Now coming back to your original question. Exchanges won't give you a private key, it will just give you an address to store your Tether. So if you are not planning to trade with a significant volume, you can still use exchange address. But it is not recommended for huge volumes.

Thanks for the confirmation and your suggestions!  Smiley

You can easily get to trade LTC/USDT pair on exchanges like bittrex, binance or poloniex, without having to register on the tether platform, which I believe should make things easy for you. Here is a step to guide you.

- Open an account on https://bittrex.com or https://binance.com
- Familiarize yourself with the exchange
- Deposit your LTC on any of the exchange address
- Then, you can search for the LTC/USDT pair and there you have it.

However, as a complete noob who wants to trade, I really hope you know what you are doing.

Excellent answer  Smiley This is the answer I was looking for. Thanks a lot!

While you probably don't need a Theter wallet, you certainly need a good LTC wallet. If you haven't figured that part out, I recommend using electrum for LTC. Keep most of your LTC locally in your electrum wallet.

I am using Coinbase's LTC wallet to store my 8 LTC as sometime I need to send LTC to other CB users and I can do that without paying fees (email transfer). I guess Electrum is a software wallet stored on my hard drive which may be  a safe option but I don't want to store my coins on my PC. So, Online wallets seems convenient for me. What's your thoughts on LTC wallet of Coinbase?

I was planning to trade LTC/USDT pair and discovered that Tether.to is not accepting new registrations. Is there any way I can use it? Can I still get an online wallet like omni wallet or exchanges wallet and store it there? Does omni or exchanges give private key to the wallet? I'm a complete noob here, enlighten me please  Embarrassed
26  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fall of crypto is near on: April 17, 2018, 08:12:20 PM
When a market is down, people come out of the woodwork to say it's going to zero.  The end is near.  The stock/bond/crypto/whatever is going to zero.  And then when we're in the midst of a raging bull market, the same thing happens except then people think the asset is going to the moon and beyond.  Nothing can stop it.

The truth, in my view, is that market fluctuations are pretty random, and bitcoin is still way higher than it was when I first got into it.  Could it fall even more from its ATH?  Sure, and it might.  The fact is that I don't know, you don't know, and OP here definitely doesn't know--but that never stops anyone from speculating, does it?  What all of us need to realize is that OP (and those like him) don't have some sort of crystal ball that allows them to predict bitcoin prices, or any kind of inside info that would allow them to do the same.

There isn't any inside information in crypto, because there aren't even businesses underlying any of these coins, like there are with stocks.  Thus prices are driven purely by supply and demand.  Nobody, as far as I know, has the inside scoop on future demand, and we already have all the information we need on supply.  People who say they "know" what's going to happen really don't.  Don't listen to this crapola.

You have said enough. I would like add that this "Crypto is dying" thing is not new. This FUD happens every now and then. What I believe is that if it was to die, it would die long ago. And about the price? BTC market cap is 1.34 Bn today, which is only about one third of the number of internet users of the world that is 3.6 Bn. So, think this way, only one third of net users are using bitcoin and each one have only invested one dollar! Seriously? Where as they are likely to have $5k+ fiat sitting on their banks. Even they raise their BTC investment from $1 to $100 only, Btc price will be $800k. Is hundred bucks a very big deal for anyone using PC connected to the internet? I don't think so. BTC is still young fellas. HODL your faith.  Cool
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin used by criminals ? on: April 17, 2018, 04:15:14 PM
So what if it really is used by cons? They use Fiat more than crypto. Are you going to dump fiat for that reason now? no, right?  Cheesy Because that will be dumb. The blacksmith made a knife. You can cut veg and fruits with that, or you can kill a man with that too. What you'll do with a tool is your choice and that doesn't make the blacksmith or the tool bad. Yes, maybe it made the life of the criminals little easier but it didn't start all those crimes right? So the problem is not with Bitcoin, it's with the system. Bitcoin was not around 15 years ago. Was the world free from crime back then? Think...

Always is. The market needs people who continually do arbitrage. The principle of the market is that at that time, the price will always be the correct one. For being the price people are willing to buy and sell. But the big thing is that in certain markets prices may be too far apart. This is a profit opportunity and is beneficial to all.

Good point. I'm worried about reliable exchanges though. What's your choice?

Not sure if this is the right section to tell this, but the facebook claiming feature is way too slow. I gotta wait about a minute just to get confirmations. No offense, but this is dumb! I think your coder team should take care of that.
30  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it a good time to Arbitrage? on: April 09, 2018, 05:45:47 PM
Whether market is rising or falling does not matter...

I can't quite agree with that statement. In a falling market by the time I get to sell my coins, the price may have already down lower than my buying price. When the trend is upward, the risk is a lot less then.
31  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Signals ICO and Bounty are Still Open. Learn more about this token sale! on: April 09, 2018, 05:42:41 PM
Their Facebook claims are extremely slow. Twitter claims are doing well. They should take a look at their fb code blocks.
32  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is it a good time to Arbitrage? on: April 09, 2018, 05:35:20 PM
I'm new in arbitrage trading and haven't performed it yet reading of the risks and uncertainties that comes with it, but I want to risk it anyway. What I understand from my studies is it's maybe not a good decision to do this kind of trading when the market is dumping. What are your thoughts on this?
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum soon $500? on: April 09, 2018, 05:17:33 PM
I believe it'll obey they Wall st. cheat sheet. Thus the prices will stay at a reasonable range for quite a long time. No big changes before the end of this year.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it wiser to invest on Bitcoin or on Ethereum? on: April 09, 2018, 04:24:12 PM
Have you ever seen the Price of Bitcoin is going down because ETH is dumping? No, right? You actually see the opposite. BTC is one big elephant. Do the math.

Still in very good shape. ICOs are doing relative better.
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin arbitrage, pros and cons, experience and profitability on: April 06, 2018, 08:59:23 PM
IMO doing arb in this bloodbath situation is a bad idea. As prices are dropping rapidly you may end up making a loss. That's just my opinion. I've never tried it but recently got interested in it and still spending time learning pros/cons and risks. and still looking for reliable exchanges.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't it funny that countries are testing their own crypto? on: April 06, 2018, 06:19:48 PM
Would this coins be traded in exchanges?

Who knows! Even if it's tradable on the exchanges what difference would it make than traditional online forex trading? Except for the new names of the currencies. Govt. acquiring blockchain is like redesigning an old CSS 2 website with Bootstrap! The administration stays the same, just a new cover.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr. Robot, Ecoin and Ripple - Coincidence or Gesture? on: April 06, 2018, 04:32:13 PM
Be very cautious on that series because they tend to tell the truth under other circumstances.

Yap, that's what I thought about too. Also, I sometimes doubt that maybe they are trying to misguide or mislead the general viewers about something. I don't know what that something is but I doubt there is something. Otherwise why would they wanna reveal their master plan? Thanks for the caution anyway  Wink
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr. Robot, Ecoin and Ripple - Coincidence or Gesture? on: April 06, 2018, 04:02:05 PM
Oh, and I must quote what the CEO of E-Corp stated, which is absolutely mind boggling  Tongue

Quote
I am not the problem here. The problem here is hard cash is fading, rapidly. That's just the way of the world right now and Bitcoin is spreading, and if Bitcoin takes over we are all in a world of hell. It is unregulated, it has already reached it's transaction volume maximum, and it is partly controlled by Chinese miners.
With "Ecoin" we control the ledger, and the mining servers, We are the Authority. I will make sure you have visibility into every single wallet that is open, every loan, every transaction, which means we can start building new assets, which means we can start rebuilding the banking sector.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mr. Robot, Ecoin and Ripple - Coincidence or Gesture? on: April 06, 2018, 03:46:59 PM
Mr. Robot is an amazing TV Series where cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin has come up multiple times. I've just started watching the 3rd season and I'm so thrilled already. It features a fictional cryptocurrency called "Ecoin" by Evil Corp, which is a lot related to Ripple (XRP). I just came across a twitter post about an image which has just blown my mind. I really can't believe it's a coincidence. What's your thought guys?
