run the pc with just the 1070. then report.
(in the slot where the 1050 is)
fuck me so stupid, when i opened the case the psu 6pin connected to the 1070 was loose! i was sure i pressed it in with a click before i closed the case, but i had to push it in pretty hard and that probably made the connector come out, thank you for making me re-open the case, after pushing it back in the card is detected and working fine, thanks again this topic can be closed

hi guys i have a pc that works fine with 1st gpu 1050ti and i installed a 2nd gpu today from my other altcoin mining PC a gtx 1070ti, the card was fully functional in the pc i took it out from. after i installed it the pc booted up fine and works normal. the 2nd gpu is detected in device manager but not in msi afterburner or anything else, i tried gpu-z and its detected there too. in device manger it says error 43 windows has stopped this device. i tried restarted pc didnt work to fix the problem i also tried going to nvidia website and manually downloading and installing the 1070ti updated drivers which succeeded but at the end of installation it says the same or newer verson is already installed. any help appreciated. pc specs: i5 7400 intel cpu 600w psu 16gb ddr4 ram windows 10 1050ti gpu (primary gpu) 1070ti (2nd gpu) gigabyte z270 gaming k3 mobo here is a ss of the error: https://imgur.com/a/zzLtWU4tl;dr removed working mining card from miner to put in gaming pc, mining card detected but error 43 from windows, what do?

noone should be mining right now. You are almost all mining at a loss with no granted profit.
so what are miners suppose to do?

DO NOT BUY THE NEW GPU when it comes out?? since that would be like 10x the speed of old cards it seems a good opportunity to buy that GPU when its released.
where did you get "10X" information ? i didnt mean 10x literally, just saying it should be way faster then the previous not 10x but you know what i mean

Images and tables like these paint a clear picture of why people should start selling their GPUs. I've found that using real examples is the best way to convince someone of something. That being said, this then should make it clear that now is VERY BAD time to buy GPUs. Buying coins? Maybe. But definitely it is clear that buying mining hardware now is a big NO NO. bullshit they are cheaper so buy them. under the following reason you have dirt cheap power. now if you don't have cheap power don't buy them. also be able to do another buy if they drop lower next month. once again you need dirt cheap power to follow this advice. if your power is not cheap do not buy gpu's please don't tell people to not buy gear tell people to not buy gear if they spend more ethen 8 cents a kwatt full price of 8 cents includes cooling and all power from power company. right now some GPU prices are pretty low, but last month they were VERY low, and have started to come back up again, i saw a MSI 1070ti new from retail websites for around £420 (bought mine in january for £480) prices seem to went a bit up right now. seems alot of people are saying not to waste money buying a card but does that mean DO NOT BUY THE NEW GPU when it comes out?? since that would be like 10x the speed of old cards it seems a good opportunity to buy that GPU when its released. Also i live in the UK and pay 0.21pence per kw electric is shit here

this is very useful thank you also thanks for the input so far guys, i`ve heard a few points about buying coins instead of mining and yeah sounds like its way faster to ROI like that, but i kind of enjoy messing with PCs building them maintaining them etc so i would feel more inclined to mine then buy, but having heard some of your points i might buy a few coins and see how it goes, any idea what coins doing good atm? last time i looked into it i heard RVN was doing good but not sure atm what everyone is hyped on

hi guys just got involved in this but having problems, getting no hashrate at all, any ideas? i renamed the miner to pignminer.exe since i already have 2 miners in the same folder C: cd C:\miner C:\miner\pignminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://blockcruncher.com:3636 -u P93vzRFhTfZVeD9EcdcAF76HeecxQ3xkNg I think you are missing algo option. Try this: C:\miner\pignminer.exe -a x16s -o stratum+tcp://blockcruncher.com:3636 -u P93vzRFhTfZVeD9EcdcAF76HeecxQ3xkNg thanks so much man this sorted it hashing away! CHEERS!

If this is a business and you make regular earnings and they go to your bank account you should really pay tax on it.
not really a business more of a hobby, someway to make a bit of profit while i'm out at work. not really going deep into it with 8 card rigs etc lol

|

since the topic of taxes is already made, i wont waste space making a new topic i`ll just post here if its ok!
i live in the U.K and want to know what do i do about taxes concerning GPU mining gains? say i make £100 a month after electric bills etc, and transfer it to my bank account, will i have to declare this to anyone? or just not say anything?

hello all i have purchased everything for my mining rig and all thats left is the frame. i`ve checked how to make one but im not very good when it comes to DIY, i was wondering what is the best way to make a frame out of something else? instead of from scratch. i saw some ppl transformed wooden tables flipped upside down and just added one or two more wooden sticks in. i could always buy one prebuilt, but i`ve sunk all my funds into my hardware already! im broke right now and i really dont want to waste 1 month waiting for my next payday any tips or advice would be much appreciated, and i hope this is in the right forum section "Back in the day", some people would use milk crates, or other similar shaped containers with openings around the outsides. You can pretty much use anything that you can stabilize the GPU's to. I'd go to the nearest "lumber yard" and grab some 1"x2" stock. Find a frame blueprint on google and slap it together with some cheap screws. It really isn't a lot of work, and it's about $20usd in cost. Move this over to the ALT mining section and get some quick answers. There is an option to move it in the bottom left corner of YOUR post. Goodluck!!! thanks i`ve just moved it, i thought about a milk crate but got paranoid it would overheat and melt the plastic XD i could be wrong but wood or metal would make me feel much better found this one guy bought a TROLLEY RACK and transformed it into a mining frame, wow so clever maybe i could do the same thanks i`ve just moved it, i thought about a milk crate but got paranoid it would overheat and melt the plastic XD what do you all think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFzhD82rTb8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO4Nn_CIkosseems i need some zip ties, but what else would i need? how would i stop the PSU from spinning out of control and falling over, same with the mobo cpu fan

Instead of getting the newer Kaby Lake G3930, find the older Skylake-gen Celeron G3900. If they aren't available from online/local stores, you can always get a used one from ebay, cpus are pretty much indestructible so if you can save some money by buying used then go for it. Cheers Mr Wacko!

thank you mr wacko! after looking at both 2x 1060 and 1x 1070 on whattomine it seems obvious that your right! i will preorder this msi 1070ti and hopefully have my rig finished in the next 2 weeks, thanks again for your great information and wish you the best

how are these for mining? is the vram decent?
The vram is not cooled on these, it's only getting some airflow from the fans, but no rads are in contact with the memory chips. The fans are pretty bad, sleeve bearings might fail within a year (got a couple of those failed already). So, as usual, it's all about the price, if they're a lot cheaper than other brands then they might be worth considering. Otherwise I'd get something else. or should i put a little extra in and get a gigabyte You don't simply "get a gigabyte", there's plenty of crap made by gigabyte as well. Do your research, lots of reviews out there, see how the cooling is done, especially how the vram and vrm are cooled, and what kind of fans are used. thanks for the replies guys well the price of the palit 1060 gtx is around 260GBP and its 6GB, so 2 of them will be around 500ish the other choices would be a gainward card 6GB 1060 but it has only 1 fan on the card, so the cooling might be pretty bad compared to having two fans, so im hoping to look for a card with 2 fans. the gainward is 240GBP ( it looks like an exact copy of the palit lol) my limit on spending for this rig will be 900GBP, ive already decided on a mobo psu ram and cpu, will be around 250 for those, so i have the rest to spend on my 2 GPUS heres links for more info: evga: https://www.cclonline.com/product/212833/06G-P4-6161-KR/Graphics-Cards/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-Gaming-Graphics-Cards-PCI-E-3-x-DisplayPort-DVI-HDMI/VGA3523/gainward 1 fan: https://www.cclonline.com/product/244890/426018336-3804/Graphics-Cards/Gainward-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-Graphics-Card/VGA4071/palit 1 f an: https://www.cclonline.com/product/244890/426018336-3804/Graphics-Cards/Gainward-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-Graphics-Card/VGA4071/palit 2 fan: https://www.cclonline.com/product/212959/NE51060015J9-1060D/Graphics-Cards/Palit-GeForce-GTX-1060-DUAL-6GB-Graphics-Card/VGA3542/( im considering this one because it has 2 fans for more cooldown?) evga 1 fan sc: https://www.cclonline.com/product/212834/06G-P4-6163-KR/Graphics-Cards/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-SC-Gaming-Graphics-Card-PCI-E-3-x-DisplayPort-DVI-HDMI/VGA3524/ive done some research on the cards but i just need a little push to decide which one would be the best bang for buck to mine altcoins, i know im asking for alot from you guys but i would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction! thanks in advance friends
