21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I research with you, you research with me. Lowcap Detailed Google Spreadsheet. on: October 31, 2018, 09:41:56 PM
Happy Halloween! (To those who celebrate Smiley )

I'm still working on this list! Still looking for help, I will share all my research with you if you want to help out.

Now is a great time to get a group together to share info on coins. Let me know your low cap gems, click the picture in my initial post to see my **potential** picks.

This is really a green idea. I think through that way people can make more aware about the project and which project is legit or scam this system could be find out. I know it's a hard work to research about all the coins and for one person is very hard to complete it. Well I love to do help you regarding this. Let me know where is the spreadsheet. Also you could share your spreadsheet in the public too.

Awesome! I sent you a message on Twitter, we can continue the conversation there Smiley

Well it is a tricky strategy, i mean low caps can both be very profitable but at the same time very risky as well, we should always keep in mind that not all low cap coins are good, most of them are low quality projects that are destined to collapse, so pick your low cap coin wisely after thorough research.

Oh yeah, 100%. The reason I'm doing this now is because most coins are in accumulation right now, minimizing risk of loss of value as much as possible. Would you like to help out? If so, we will have a team of 3 to start out Smiley

You may have look at Twist and Enumivo, they look promising, and ACC too they have had some hiccups but lately they've been teasing about new update coming.

I will certainly take a look, thank you!

maybe you can focus more on overcoming number one points. sometimes when the bounty runs, or ico is in the period, the administrator or team from ico itself is sometimes no longer active and difficult to contact the progress of their project so that many people call it a scam or shitcoin.

Oh yeah, I have seen a few projects like that. If the coin I'm looking at fails with point #1, I abandon it. Those questions being the first things I look at saves me so much time! It would suck to research all the other things, then find out it is inactive.

As for the definition of shitcoin, everybody has their own. To me, if the coin is below #200 in marketcap ranking, it is automatically a shitcoin because of how many shitty projects are around it lol.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great and promising projects out their, but I will still call them a shitcoin just because that is the culture Smiley

Some of my favorite coins other than BTC are shitcoins Smiley

Intro

I have been in and out of crypto over the past year. I helped run a small scale mining operation in an industrial warehouse, I have been a moderator in the Electroneum Telegram (It was my very first coin, don't judge me XD), and I frequently visit Crypto Twitter.

After reading Nik Patel's book 'An Altcoin Trader's Handbook', I have decided that now, while most alts are very near to their accumulation zones, that I should do a deep dive and got myself familiar with the shitcoins that have the most upside.

The Reason For Posting

I have this here Google Spreadsheet I'm filling out with appetizing coins ranged from $100K - $10M Marketcap.

The spreadsheet has 244 coins, and 34 columns of criteria for each coin.

I am a newbie here so I cannot preview pictures. Click the link to see that this is a serious inquiry lol.

The only reason I want to reach out on Bitcointalk is because I just don't have enough time to go through all these coins before they inevitably pump. I only have time to skim over and decide if they are a scam or if they are worth looking further into. All of the coins that made the excel spreadsheet in the first place were picked based on if they had an appealing Circulating Supply, Total Supply, and Maximum supply ratio, as mentioned in Nik Patel's book 'An Altcoin Trader's Handbook'.

The next step is literally a 10-15 minute scan over each coin's [ANN] page on Bitcointalk, Twitter, Github and their website. I sniff around to see if:

1:
Is the community active? Is the administrator active? How often are members of the community posting? How many different community members are posting? When was the last software update?

2:
How active is their Twitter? Any Crypto Twitter people talking about it? Does it seem like a scam? how much do they reply to comments & tweets?

3:
Is their Github active? Does it align with their roadmap? How any commits does it have?

4:
Is the website easy to navigate? Is it trying to be too fancy? Are they focusing on making people money or actually building a usable product?

If the answers to these questions are pleasing, I highlight the coin green to mark that I will do an even deeper dive into the coin's history and figure out if they have a shot at climbing up the ranks of the marketcap ladder.

Call to Action!

Does this sound appealing to you?

Currently I have reviewed 37 Coins, with 8 of them getting the coveted green highlight that indicates they have some shine to them.

What I want to do is give you the entire google spreadsheet as it is this moment. You will have access to all the research I have done on and off during the past week. All I want in return is help with filling this spreadsheet out!

If you are interested, leave a comment below and we can talk about how you want me to send you the spreadsheet. Once I see that I can trust your research, I'll give you access to the spreadsheet link on google Slides so we can collaborate on research.

The goal is to get a handful of cool people who can share their research with eachother. And that's it!

Have you any experience with BIOS Flashing your 270s? A buddy of mine flashed his 270s to 280s and managed to get better efficiency (Hash/watt) than standard 280s.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig Cooling help - noob on: June 18, 2018, 02:48:16 AM

In my mind, it is better to have your box fan pointing away from the GPU exhausts, sucking the air from the GPUs and pulling the hot air from them.

With the technique you are using, do you think the box fan is pushing air into the GPU exhaust causing the GPU fan to work harder to push air? Could that affect the lifespan of the GPU's cooling system?
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice for somebody thinking of starting to mine? on: June 17, 2018, 03:45:51 AM
advise you to buy coins, gpu mining is game over.

I don't think the game is over at all. At these prices we are still at a monthly profit with a decent electricity price. If you can get a good spec mining play, the rig pays for itself pretty quick, if you know when to sell.

I will admit that you are more likely to make more money simply trading a coin rather than mining the coin.

Mining is a less risky venture than trading, but less risk = less reward.

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCI 1x risers power requirements with psu cables on: June 16, 2018, 11:59:49 PM
I would recommend against powering more than two risers with SATA connectors on 18 AWG cable. The problem with powering more than two risers per SATA strand is 18 AWG wire is only rated for 10 A max for single core wire, which is 120 W at 12 V and much less for multi-stand wire. SATA connectors also have a single 12V wire, which means the entire load is on a single cable, instead of spread out over 2 or 3 cables as is the case with 6 or 8 pin PCI-E cables. Using more than two risers per SATA cable strand WILL exceed the rating of 18 AWG multi-stand wire, causing the wire to heat up and is dangerous.

In the case of 6-pin powered PCI-e risers, do you think powering more than 2 risers will be an issue?
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCI 1x risers power requirements with psu cables on: June 16, 2018, 08:33:44 PM
I think 3 PCI-e risers on one cable is ok. As you said, the rule is 2 connections per riser. I have a bunch of rigs that use 3 risers for a single cable. Although the 4th connection to the motherboard is a little worry-some to me. I think you will be able to do it. Just keep an eye on cable temps. If you touch it and it is warm, you might want to reconsider your riser setup. You can also buy a $30 laser temperature gun from Home Depot to tell you the temps accurate within 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Better to use an infrared camera, although pretty expensive.

When doing the 3 connections per riser make sure your hashrate matches others hashrates. If they are the same and the setup is stable you should be all good. Don't 100% take my word for it though, I'm not an extreme mining expert, just talking from my own experiences.

If there is someone can share their mining business why not but expect for maintenance payment and electricity bill.
I suggest that you mine altcoin with your own rig so that you can manage your own business without paying a large amount for maintenance because you can clean the dust of your own rig easily.
Just like what I'm doing here in my country don't expect to earn a large profit in mining but if you know how to sell your altcoin holding you can make a large amount of profit.

Exactly! Paying for a mining service basically eliminates any profits you would have. Customers that use those services are people that don't know how to use a mining computer, or people whose electricity is too much to be profitable. Mining is a slow and steady income stream. In my mind, it is less risky than trading, but less risk = less reward.

I have been helping run a 25+ PC mine that owns some rigs of our own and hosts other rigs that we order and build for customers. Has been about 5 months going strong. Here are some points I tell people that want to start mining. This all applies to non-ASIC mining.

- Have a good group of people that mine who are willing to help you out with advice/question answering.

- Have a want to improve your knowledge of new coins, mining software, and techniques other enthusiast miners are using. There will be some days where you want to give up. You will probably put in hours changing settings in a computer and the issue will not be resolved. Some computers will simply not work sometimes. It is good to have spare parts sitting around so you can replace parts. I have replaced every single part of a computer to ensure I had no bad parts, and it still did not work. I ended up putting EthOS in the rig and it worked. Might have been a Windows installation issue. Still not 100% sure

- Cooling will be around 25% of your electricity costs. It is very important to keep the computers cool for the longevity of the computer's life. Sometimes the GPU fans will literally warp and will affect the Hashrate of the GPU because it is not getting the airflow it needs. The GPU will eventually completely die without proper cooling.

- Dust. Keep your space clean. Also important for the longevity of the GPU.

- Electricity cost in residential areas are ridiculous. Call your Electricity provider and see if they have a payment plan that is better than the one you currently have.

- Do you have enough circuits to support the amount of PCs you will use? When I started mining in my house, sometimes a blowdryer would trip the circuit breaker, or even multiple breakers. If your electricity lines are old they will be less efficient and get hot, resulting in both energy loss and fire hazard.

- Be sure to cash out when you feel like a genius for mining a certain coin. Unless you are already well off, cash out a little bit every now and then to cover your costs.

- Mining is loud and hot. People often don't understand how loud and hot it really is. Be sure your spouse is ok with it XD

That's about all I got now.

Be sure to keep up to date with new mining software and techniques people are using. For example, some coins will announce a fork in a week, and if you don't update your miner before the fork you won't be able to mine it.

Good luck! Let me know if you decide to use any of this advice Smiley

Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has a link to a ZEROcoin Telegram group?

Thanks

I recommend not using the name "cheatcoin". Like one user stated, cheat is not a positive vibe from a coin, at least in english. I can think of som enames to use instead if you're open to suggestions. Maybe I could draft a logo too Smiley
