21  Other / Beginners & Help / All is now right in the world (10th post) on: December 11, 2013, 07:01:41 PM
This is the almighty 10th post, for after this post, nothing else will be the same.

For you see the 10th post is the key to everything and all will be right in the world.

For the moment I click the "Post" button, the following will happen.

World Peace will be achieved.
All lost dogs will return home.
A cure for every disease will be found and freely available to everyone.
Country music will cease to exist.
North Texas will no longer be colder than Alaska.
The ozone layer will be once again whole and no worries about Global warming.
Everyone who wants a job will get one.
Everyone who does not want a job becomes independently wealthy.
Obama is .. (ok I won't go there)
All the little children of the world will have lot's of Christmas gifts.
No one will ever again be hungry.

But even better than any of the above, I can post on bitcointalk.org with less restrictions.

So now I shall hit the Post button and all will be right in the world.

It appears I have NO choice but to complain and post worthless posts until I reach some unknown level.

Yep, and it's not unknown:

You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have made one post and waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences. The other two restrictions are you need 1 post to be able to send a PM and 10 posts to put a link in your sig.  You can only post once every 360 seconds to start and there are a few other things that trigger this timer such as logging in and searching.

UMM That quote does NOT answer the issues I was posting.

Let's examine some logic.

I fulfilled that after my first post! This should no longer be the reason for the issues.

10 posts to put a link in sig does NOT address the issues I posted.

This only partially answers the issues. I will soon be at 10 posts, and we will see what issues there are after that.

The best way to search this site is with Google:

[$question] site:bitcointalk.org

Replace [$question] with your search item and plug it into Google.  Reduces impact to the site host and allows you to search much, much better Smiley

GOOGLE is not the answer to all searches. Let's take a real life case scenario from today.

User (me) notices that a popular website is not functioning. After several attempts of getting an error, the user decides to go to Bitcointalk.org to see if others are having the same issue.

First I go to Bitcointalk.org and Search for posts, I start by typing in "coinex" but do not see any results,  so I try searching for "coinex.pw" instead. BUT WAIT, that is now allowed!

Your google answer does not work in this case as Google results have a longer delay than needed in this case.

So after waiting to search again and NOT seeing a result (at the time), I figure Ok, I will start a post. BUT NO. IT WHILE IT APPEARS IT MAY OF WORKED, (see Already Submitted) THE POST DOES NOT SHOW UP.

So instead I get to post the question here in the newbie forum. Where all of the newbies are essentially isolated and forced to be discluded from participating in conversation and discouraged from posting meaningful posts.

It appears I have NO choice but to complain and post worthless posts until I reach some unknown level.

The limitations are in place to prevent spamming and such. Limitations get reduced when you move up in the ranks Smiley

The limitations / restrictions are a bit too tight. And by a bit I mean "WAY TOO FREAKIN"

One - Searching too quickly
http://screencast.com/t/DbS1XKB8lG

Seriously, why do they DISCOURAGE people from searching? Do you want a lot of duplicate posts? Makes no sense.

Two - 360 Seconds
http://screencast.com/t/aE82vZ18J

Evidently if you THINK faster than a snail, it's not okay,

BY THE WAY, this also is NOT TRUE. It can be many hours since my last post and I still get this message.

So I wait and click back and try again and get...

Three - Already Submitted

What the heck? This eludes to say that the post has been posted, but IT DOES NOT SHOW UP!!!

PARTICIPATING IN CONVERSATION HERE IS PROVING TO BE A NIGHTMARE!

Try quoting another post, posting your reply under the quote and then editing the post and deleting the quote.

I am also getting Service Unavailable, it isn't just you.

Bitcoin forum post issue

Why do I need to quote another post? Am I unable to start a new post as a Jr. Member?

I did search and did not see a current "coinex.pw down" post for coinex.pw so I was going to start one.

coinex.pw down issue
-----

Glad to hear it's not just me? No wait, I take that back, maybe it would of been better if it was just me. Any news / rumors of why it is down? Does the developer have a twitter feed or Facebook page with news?

Sure wish I could post this in the appropriate area.
27  Other / Meta / My posts are not going through! on: December 11, 2013, 04:31:41 PM
The last few times I have attempted to post, it gives me an error saying that it has been less than 360 seconds or something since my last post BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE!

So I try again and it tells me sorry, you have already posted that yet it never shows up!

Please help

I want to see if anyone else has coinex.pw down? I am getting service unavailable and yet no one here is talking about it.

Ahh I wanted to reply to other posts in other areas, but evidently I can not do that just yet. I am forced to post here first. Control freaks.

Anyway, I will take this opportunity to tell a little about me.

I learned about bitcoin and became interested in bitcoin about 3 weeks ago. It seems like so much longer ago.... I mean a bitcoin was only $250ish a coin way back then and now its approaching $1,000 (over $1,000 at MT Gox).  I quickly learned about the profitability calculator, exchanges, free bitcoin faucets, hardware comparison charts and so much more.

I have watched the prices of hardware and ASIC miners SKYROCKET on eBay as well. I was shocked to see the prices of the hardware go up and up some more over the last few weeks and I feel a little like a fool for not acting faster.

So I am mining bitcoins currently and looking to mine the top 10 crypto currencies and others that seem interesting.

After much contemplation, I have come up with the following conclusions and opinions.

1) I think the One World Currency (prophesy) could very well be a cryptocurrency. No. I do not feel bad about profiting from it.
2) Bitcoin is awesome
3) As awesome as bitcoin is, there are some fatal flaws. Due to these flaws, another cryptocurrency will eventually be king. (measured in market capitalization)
4) The last remaining opportunity for Bitcoin is this upcoming year 2014 is done, there is little reason to mine Bitcoin any longer. Will the transaction fees make up for the mining loses? That is the question for potential beyond 2014. If miners lose motivation and they shut down their systems... it will hinder Bitcoin.
5) I want a nice chunk of every coin I think may have potential early on. I wish I had understood about Bitcoin prior to 3 weeks ago.

Ok thats enough for now!

Jared
