Yes, motivation is difficult to sustain. I think that is the case mostly because technology and society has conditioned us to be addicted to immediate returns. We need to change our mindset, practice more mindfulness, become more aware and grateful for life and all its opportunities, and take moments in our day to stop and reflect.

We need policies that directly tackle the issue, limiting the number of children persons can have. I think it is the only way forward. But we also need to think about decreasing populations of farmed animals for human consumption. And that is by simply limiting the amount of meat and dairy people can eat. Which will also bring many health benefits. Win-win!

Without the internet, we would have developed slower or in different ways, certainly. In some ways, we would be less developed technologically. But on the other hand, we may have devised and developed more harmonious ways of co-existing, improved communication grounded in experienced living rather than online, distant communication.

Wow, I am a little shocked at the views expressed here. If anything, the dominance of male energy in society is causing a great imbalance. Women have a lot to offer in terms of restoring that balance, bringing cooperation and empathy to the table over the competitive, individualistic society we are in.

Wow, I would never point blank say I hate a particular group in society, whether defined by religion, race, gender, social class, or any other division. It makes absolutely no sense. Without getting to know individuals, is it really possible to have such strong feelings about them?

To me, the most amazing benefit of meditation is becoming more aware, getting out of my head a little and becoming more mindful in my day-to-day activities. It is so easy to get lost in the internal dialogue of thoughts, and I feel the practice enables one to come out of that a little, to be a bit more present and connected with the world.

I believe gun laws are a massive breach of many fundamental rights. Surely there must be a weighing of rights and interests. The private interest in holding guns vs. the collective/community interest in regulating it to address the huge misuse of guns. The rest of the world is shocked by US gun laws and the discourse around it. Private individuals should not be able to purchase guns, with very few exceptions.

It must be much trickier to make this decision in the US than it is in Europe (given much higher tuition costs, less support from the State, etc.). I do not believe that everyone should go to College, so I suppose it depends on what you wish to do with your life. But if you are academically apt and you are getting good grades, I would say definitely go for it. It is a huge investment in your future. If you are struggling through HS, though, you may just find that you can be equally as successful going straight into paid work.

There is a reason why they call it sweet revenge! It gives a certain good feeling in the moment. But long term, it's not worth it. It is better to rise above the other person's behaviour, practice better communication, and learn to let go. We cannot control other peoples' actions.

School uniforms can serve some useful purpose, in that it may alleviate some of the peer pressure that students feel to wear the latest trends, wear something new every day. It makes students more equal. And not having to worry about what to wear each morning is ideal.

No reason whatsover can justify taking so many lives. It's shocking how many wars still occur and that are not widely discussed in global media. It's utterly depressing that war is still a thing in the 21st century.

I respect that choice a lot. Facebook is pathetic and such a time-killer. I am hoping I can quit it also. Worst thing that happened to us as a society in recent times. Perpetuates a lot of mental health issues and insecurities also.

It has to be individuals - in their private capacity but also in their various other functions. but saving the planet? the planet will survive, whether we do or not is another matter.

I am also very curious to see how governments will regulate cryptos and what impact it has on price, volatility and the market in general. Interesting times ahead.

I suppose it's as fair as any other trade or industry, where people have been lucky. There are many sectors where financial gain does not seem to be correlated with effort/intelligence/input (think about celebrities and sports) but we accept that..

said no one ever. This mentality is such a trick, it reels so many in but it cannot be farther from the truth. If you are not happy without money, you are not going to be happy with money. Sure, having some financial stability is important but beyond that, it makes no difference. Happiness comes from within

Yes, it's why we have such incoherent laws sometimes. Lots of exceptions here and there, always trying to cover up the loopholes but not being able to address root causes of holes in the first place

Global power imbalances. The wealthy are wealthy namely because the poor are poor. They thrive off poor countries' cheap labour, resources, etc.

It angers me that politicians (typically men) feel in any way entitled to have an opinion about whether women should go through with 9 month pregnancy and then care for a child for 18+ years. Can't we just agree that people decide what they want to happen to their own bodies?

Many approaches can work but in a stage of critical depression, seeking professional support is crucial. Later, once the worst stage is over, other more experimental approaches are worth seeking out. Ones that disrupt the negative, depressive patterns and emotions (such as mild psychedelics)
