21  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: please help !!!! ( need to build up private bitcoin pool on ubuntu 14.04 ) on: June 14, 2014, 03:21:20 PM
Took from MPOS Quick Install.. The best way to make sure Python Stratum will work is to do;

Code:
sudo apt-get install python-twisted python-mysqldb python-dev python-setuptools python-memcache python-simplejson python-pylibmc
sudo easy_install -U distribute

Then execute;
Quote
cd ~
cp stratum-mining/conf/config_sample.py stratum-mining/conf/config.py
nano stratum-mining/conf/config.py

This will backup the config and then put you in an editor so you can edit your config (if you haven't already done so).

Make sure you run those commands, then run the stratum server. It _should_ work. If not, then double check everything.
22  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: please help !!!! ( need to build up private bitcoin pool on ubuntu 14.04 ) on: June 14, 2014, 09:06:17 AM
Be patient... You can type in "bitcoind getinfo" to see how many blocks you have downloaded. Just look at your bitcoin client on your computer and compare to see how many blocks your server needs to download. Before it'll be finished.

Also, when you run bitcoind, it won't show any output in the terminal, so just put it in a screen out of the way. When its not running for whatever reason, it'll return to the command line again.

PS: You may have gigabit and the download will still be slow. It depends on how powerful your servers processor is as well as the connection. It took a server which I ran bitcoind on at least a day to download the blockchain.

You can run bitcoind, in-fact any client on the Raspberry Pi, the only problem is the size of the SDCard since it'll download the ENTIRE blockchain, and it's well over 14GB. For this, you'll need an external HDD or USB Drive (Although the amount of read/write would significantly decrease its lifetime) and point the data directory to somewhere on the external device by using the "-datadir" parameter with bitcoind. It will take days to download the blockchain though since the Pi has to verify the blocks. I managed to downloaded the Dogecoin blockchain in about 2-3 days - again, this isn't a bandwidth issue, it's limited to how fast the Pi can process the blocks.

Any chance we could see our predicted payout on our stats page? I was hoping for more than just graphs on hashrates.

@_Crash_ Thank you for your post. Android app is currently updated to show X11 data. New version should be available soon.

Hi. The problem still persists after the update. I'm currently mining X11 and the hashrate still doesn't display in the main overview or the widget. However in the workers tab It reports my hashrate.

Thanks.

Android App - the hashrate is broken, doesn't display in the app or on the widget what so ever. I can confirm the site displays it.

Scrypt-Based Mining now is just generally dead. I don't see the point anymore, even if you have Mh/s, you're still losing a LOT with electricity costs.

Some people have access to really cheap or even free electricity.

True, however my single card rig (303KH/s) uses 240W solid when mining. I have it on for 9 hours each day during the night since mining scrypt is so unprofitable ~ at least for me anyway. Its around £9 a month now that I'm doing this minus a couple pound due to my solar panels which are grid tied.

Pick up an R9 270 yo! Coupled with a Sempron 145 you can have a low power single rig pushing 430+ Kh/s and fairly low temps...should be under 175w! Also GOLD rated PSU or better helps a bunch.

Sounds like a plan! Cheers! Cheesy
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / SGMiner - Not showing Temps for HD6870 on: May 18, 2014, 10:50:10 AM
Hi,

I started using SGMiner on Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 and the client isn't showing the temperatures of my AMD Radeon HD6870 (1GB). BEfore I used CGMiner and that had the temperatures.

This is the result after running ./configure -

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I think scrypt mining is only worth it to mine with asic miners at the moment. GPU mining of scrypt is too ineffective. So the only thing for GPU mining right now is X11 algo. For the next few months the X11 coins will be a lot more than the scrypt ones. So if you have GPUs for mining I suggest mine X11 coins or even Groestl - best hash for power...better even than the X11 algo.

As for the clevermining I had very good time mining here until a month ago. I switched to X11 mining two weeks ago. So if Terk sets up a X11 clever mining I will be happy to mine there.

Happy mining to all.

I agree with you completely. However last time I checked, mining x11 wasn't profitable unless I queried wrongly.

Checking my stats seems to be broken, I'm pasting my address as it is in my bitcoin wallet and I even tried from the top miners list, but yet it says its invalid :S

Thanks!

EDIT: Just tried other users in the list and it's working fine? :S My address is: 1bJ6ZR5pxxzccZi4UHTYuwq6zeDyKChWf
Your address is shorter than usual so the client script thinks it's invalid (your address has 33 characters instead of 34). I fixed it. You should be able to check your balance now.

Thanks!

I tried but it says the config file' syntax is old or outdated then immediately closes.
38  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Possible to use the onboard GPU of a laptop for mining? on: March 25, 2014, 07:40:54 PM
Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I'd like to say that I have mined on a laptop (for ~5 secs) as a test with an Intel Chipset for graphics. I'm unsure of what chipset it was but yes it does work.

Have you seen the price of them on eBay and Amazon? Convert that to bitcoin and you'll find its more than a bitcent.
