21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v14.7 (Windows/Linux) on: July 10, 2019, 09:13:44 PM
Hi,

I tried to bring back my RX580 (Red devil 8gb Samsung) to the original bios in order to use claymore 14.7 with rxboost and the strap function. (I use windows 10)

My problem is that every time I try to set-up the core voltage in claymore (I use -mvdcc 850) , the system crash almost immediately. (blank screen).

If I don't use the -mvdcc command, it is working and I get 10% more mh/s but I use 25% more watt than before so it is not very good.

I have tried to change the core voltage in MS afterburner (Core voltage -100)  but it doesn't have any effect on my power consumption….(like if it was not working).

Anyone can help me please?

Thank you!

mvddc is memory voltage, not core.
I don't know why but you must always use -cvddc AND -mvddc with the same value on RX

I believe -mvddc is memory controller voltage, not the actual memory voltage which is non-adjustable on these cards.  I run separate values for core and memory controller with no issues on RX580s.

Important: The setting MUST be applied before mining starts or the value won't change. Even if I closed the miner and tried to apply the setting, it would not take. However, applying via .bat after reboot before the miner started worked great.
This is not true. AMD driver 19.4.3. I change REF on my RX 580 cards during mining and it applyies and changing the mining speed.
Once I got the new Win10 update, I could no longer change the timings on the fly with Claymore running.  Even with the 19.4.3 driver.  I tried all of the recent drivers I could find.
Going back to the 18.9.2 driver allows me to dynamically update using AMDmemTweak again while Claymore 11.9 is running under the newest Win10.  19.6.3 still didn't work.  It took quite a while to crawl back to 18.9.2 to find one that worked.

EDIT:

Well, I spoke too soon.  I was able to do it briefly but then it locked me out again.  I don't know what the solution is other than making sure to modify before running Claymore.  But it sure was nice for a while to be able to bring up the GUI version and modify timings on the fly while Claymore was running to see the effect.

What can be doing to fix it?

Cloudflare was out this morning for some time and that affected my ability to get to several websites, including Nanopool.  Have you considered that the internet doesn't work 100% of the time?

Hi all,

I am getting the following error message: Cannot build OpenCL program for GPU 0 with version 14.x

This is just a test miner for an Ethereum fork - having a small DAG - so I don't think it's related to the memory. I am running Windows 10, august 2017 blockchain drivers and have tested against 14.6 and 14.7. Version 12 works fine.

Any ideas?

I think you need -allcoins 1 if you're mining a fork.  Also, there's probably not enough memory for a real ETH DAG and so you probably need to disable the mining fee process which would need to create a large DAG every hour.

I used to be able to do this but can no longer change on the fly after the Win10 update and a driver update.  I may try to go back to older drivers and see if that changes.  To me, that was the best part about the tool ... changes on the fly to see the effects.

In fact, once I run Claymore, I can't change any values even after I stop Claymore.  I have to reboot to make the values modifiable again.

This is Claymore 11.9, not the newer 14.x stuff that uses this same mechanism to adjust the card timings.  I can see where that might conflict.  But 11.9 was allowing mods during mining previously.

I'm on the new Win10 May update and running Radeon driver 19.5.2.  I'm finding that I can run and apply AMDmemTweak changes prior to running Claymore 11.9.  However, once Claymore is running, changes in AMDmemTweak will not longer apply dynamically.  Occassionaly AMDmemTweak will throw an "application error" dialog box but otherwise continues to run.  I've turned off the new Tamper Control in Defender as well.

I can't run Radeon 19.6.2 because it throws a software error and exits when I attempt to enter the setting page.

A month ago, I had absolutely no issues of any kind running and applying AMDmemTweak settings.  I'm sure it's something in the new windows or newer drivers.

I'm using AMDmemTweak 0.2.3 BTW.

hello,

i have latest wn 10, amd 19.5.2 and claymore 14.7 and despsite i use rxboost or strapo value, still getting same ahsrate with or without it.
i had 14.6, downloaded 14.7, used driver uninstall, rebooted, then driver install, again reboot but still getting same hash.

it wrote rxoption is applied succesfuly, same for strap, but i do not see any changes in hashrate...any advice what could be wrong?

The latest Win10 has a new feature called Tamper Protection.  It seems to prevent writing directly to the card's I2C interfaces even with the proper driver.  That may be the problem.  I found that it would prevent AMDMemTweak from adjusting the values as well.  You can turn it off but I can't recall how.  It gave me the option at one point and I took it.

Might not be your problem, but worth a look.  I've been bouncing around with various versions of the AMD driver as well trying to get around this.  I found that 19.6.2 would crash on my machine when going to the settings page.  I backed off to 19.5.2 and it works ok.  I'm only running Claymore 11.9 though.  Waiting for the 14.x to stabilize.

Ive been running just fine until update. Im getting Cuda error 11 cannot allocate big buffer for dag. Cannot create Dag file.
Using 7 GTX 1070s
Virtual Memory 20GB

Please Help

20 GB is not enough, at least it should be the total memory capacity of all your cards 7 * 8 = 56 GB more will be even better, about 70 will be good.

Would the -gser parameter also help his case in lieu of more virtual memory space?

Hi there, i woud like to know did the author of this program planing to add optimized timings for AMD Radeon VII, if yes then when approximatly???Thanks

I could be woefully wrong about this, but I thought Radeon VII was core limited not memory limited. If this is the case, optimized memory timings won't help.

I thought Radeon VII's were already getting 90MH/s with just a refresh rate tweak.  I could also be wrong, but there are a few users over in the AMDTweakTool thread that have them.  Check there.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Mem Tweak - Read/modify mem timings on the fly - [Vega Friendly] [Win/Linux] on: May 26, 2019, 06:14:23 AM
That's interesting - I had always thought I was limited to ~2K on ubermix as well, but during this exercise of finding a way to get to higher clocks, I found out I could get to ~2.1K w/ no timings changes.  I guess the 2K limit (at least for me) was more the case under CN - ethash must be a bit easier on the mem.

I'm also surprised you can do REF 30 - I can do higher refs w/ CN, but for ethash, I'm seeing a couple percent errors already at REF 10 (def depends on ambient tho.)

Maybe we're using different ubermix versions?  iirc, a couple different ones were included in PBE over time.  I also recently noticed generaleramon had published later versions (even past 3.2,) one of which was suggested may be ideal for 2150.

I think I am running Ubermix 3.1 but it's been a while.  Your original values for RC and RFC match mine.  At REF 30, I have 1 bad hash in about 24 hours.  On my Hynix cards, I can't run beyond REF 18 without too many bad hashes.

This reminds me of the days when a group of us using ATT6300 PC's (8086 machines) would lower the dram refresh rate from that set in BIOS to gain about 12% in processing speed.  Of course, our CPUs were running at 8MHz so that was a big deal for us.

For anyone else using the old PBE one-click samsung straps (aka generaleramon's ubermix 3.2) on RX 4/5XX 8gb GPUs, and seeing subpar ETH h/rs due to the tight timings limiting mem clock frequencies... I've been able to get my samsung 580-8s more in-line w/ the microns (~32.5 MH/s) by loosening a couple settings which then allow raising the mem clock (combined w/ a REF increase i use on all my 580s):

--REF 10 --RC 70 --RFC 157 (from REF 5, RC 65, RFC 136)
mclock 2145-2185 (from 2085-2145)

other relevant bits:

cclock 1175, 806mv, phoenixminer, and ubuntu 18.04 + amdgpu-pro 18.50 (though windows should behave similarly)

You could prob get to ~33+ w/ a 1200-1250+ cclock, while I may have slightly overshot on the loosened timings.  But as usual, I'm more interested in efficiency than max h/rs.
Also, mclock is still a bit limited, as i believe CL (currently 21) would need to be relaxed to get to 2200+ MHz -- which as i understand, can't be done w/ the tool atm.

My Samsung memory is weak, only able to run at 1960 with Ubermix.  I was able to bump to 2000 with your suggestion along with a REF 30 and gained 0.7MHs.  I would definitely have to loosen Column Address Strobe Latency to go higher.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v14.3 (Windows/Linux) on: May 17, 2019, 02:23:48 PM
I tried v14.3 in Windows 10 and (still) made my Windows 10 running in test mode. My cards are RX550 4GB and RX560 4GB with stock bios (I reflash them all), tried with -strap 2 and got a similar result with my previous custom bios. I'll give you an update for stability measurement after 24 hours or so.

From my tentative view, this version seems stable and do what it promised. The "-strap" feature really helps newbies who don't want to flash their bios.

i get this every time i start     " Failed, miner activated Windows Test Signing Mode, please reboot to apply it and start miner again" what does it mean?
AFAIK, you need to enter test mode.

Test mode is the only way to run an unsigned kernel mode driver without it being signed with a cert.  When you do "-driver install" you are installing said driver to allow run-time access to the GPU configuration registers via that driver.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v14.0 (Windows/Linux) on: May 08, 2019, 05:50:07 PM
I was on my way to testing v14 but first had to move my driver to 19.4.3.  When I moved, I then restarted v12 just to make sure everything was still working.  It turns out, I lost fan control under 19.4.3 and v12.  So I've reverted my driver and have gone back to v12 for now.

I'm sure the fan stuff probably works in v14 with the newer driver but I don't have time to fight with it now.  Maybe over the weekend.

EDIT: Re-read posts and see that AMD keeps changing the fan API out from under you.  I'm back on v12 but will make a run at v14 later.  Thanks for the work on dynamic strapping.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.9 (Windows/Linux) on: August 12, 2018, 04:18:49 PM
Running Claymore 11.9, I moved to Radeon 18.8.1 yesterday and over 24 hours got a large number of incorrect shares on one card.  Rolling back to 18.7.1 and will update this post if it clears up.

Moving back to 18.7.1 seems to have cleared it up.  Could just be my system but if you move to 18.8.1, keep an eye on it.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SOLO mining... who gets the block? on: June 08, 2018, 07:34:50 PM
Read the announcement and the answer is not in there...

for solo mining, if the share that is submitted that finds the block happens while the dev fee is mining, does the dev get the whole block or a percentage of the block?

Thanks!

Why would there be a "share" submitted when solo mining?  You're not on a pool ... right?  If the DevFee cycle hits the block solution, then that wallet address gets the block reward ... all of it.  Pools allow for rewards to be distributed for percentages of work ... not solo.

I did find the answer to my question after searching this thread. (all 1,500 posts Wink )

My guess though is you've never solo mined.  They've had can solo mining on pools for YEARS now.

http://altpool.pro/

In all mining the miner submits shares.  The share is then accepted or denied by the pool.  In the case of solo mining, the accepted submitted share has a chance to solve the block.  In solo pool mining, the share that solves the block gets the reward.  In non-solo pool mining the shares are calculated as a percentage of the block.  What's happening when the DEV part is mining shares are being submitted, but only under the devs mining address.  If they solve the block during that time they get the whole block, I thought there might have been a way to split that percentage-wise in the software, but no, the dev gets the whole block.

Also, as it goes to Claymore's wallet I wouldn't know how many blocks were actually solved by my rigs because the pool only shows my receiving mining address, not his.

So no more solo mining with Claymore for me, at least on certain coins.  For regular pool mining, sure.

Solo mining through a pool is the same result as solo mining directly to the network, but with an added fee.  If you solo mine through a pool, you are a pool of 1.  Shares have no meaning in a pool of 1 because they are all your shares.  You either find a block or you don't.  It's perhaps useful to allow you to see that you are, in fact, making progress on doing the work but nothing else.  In that case, I guess you're paying the pool fee of 1% or so for ... something.  If you're solo and you go through a pool, you're letting them use their wallet in the block's coinbase and at that point, they can deduct their fee and then give you the rest I suppose.  Maybe the fee is worth it to show your progress?  I don't know.  If you were mining directly on the network, your address would go into the coinbase of the found block and you wouldn't submit "shares" to the network ... only block solutions.

Only in pool mining does a miner submit shares.

When the DevFee mines, it may mine on a completely different pool for example.  It is disconnected from the work you're doing on your wallet address.  The DevFee probably hits a shared pool while you are off on a dedicated channel or solo.

The 18.5.2 drivers on Windows 10 v 1709 run very stable for me.

Amen.  Claymore 11.8 on these 18.5.2 drivers on the 1709 version of Win10 seems really stable.  Especially in my mixed environment with NVidia cards which has given me some trouble over the past couple of months.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.7 (Windows/Linux) on: May 29, 2018, 03:33:35 PM
I have some problem with most of the Nvidia rigs, you see after 30 minutes of mining, everything slows down & lags almost to a halt except for the Claymore miner, if i were to close the miner & start it up again, it won't run, the Claymore miner will stuck at scanning GPU. So what i normally did is to restart the rig manually then run the .bat files that i needed.  Embarrassed Embarrassed

All the AMD rigs doesn't have the windows lag issue. only half of the Nvidia rigs has this problem not all, i can't seem to solve it even if I clone the OS & settings over.

I had a similar problem in a mixed AMD / NVIDIA rig.  It was as if Windows itself was in slow motion.  Clicking on menus took seconds for them to respond, etc.  Yet, it seemed the Claymore window was progressing as usual.

For me, it turned out to be the NVidia driver.  I was running V.390.xx and when I brought it forward to v.397.64 it cleared the problem up ... haven't had it since.  I'm not sure which interim version between those actually solved the problem but I'd rather not go back and look for it.  Just happy to have moved past that.  This is on a Win10pro/64 1709 install.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.7 (Windows/Linux) on: May 25, 2018, 01:51:03 AM
Claymore 11.7 has been running well for me with only the occasional slowdown of card for a couple of minutes only to pick back up to speed.

My only problem is that I can't reliably STOP the program.  I get a BSD from a driver fault whenever I try to stop.  I've tried most of this year's drivers from the 18.2 in Feb to the one before the latest.  I'm in no hurry to be current on my driver under Win10 but I am looking for that stability.  No memory errors and nothing crazy in the overclocking realm.  I'm about 28.5MHs on each of my 580s.

I do use DDU in Safe Mode when I switch drivers to get the cleanest possible install.

Any thoughts about where to look?
What bioses?

I'm running Ultramix 3.1 with Samsung memory and just a strap copy with the Hynix ... 1750 to 2000. All are at 2000MHz.  They really clip along fairly well.  I just can't reliably stop them. Smiley

I suppose it could be worse.
Well that happens with too much oc

Turned out ... my boot drive was going bad and when trying to quit the closing of the log files was just too much.  It manifested itself in several ways but one was BSD's of various sorts from the display driver.  Maddening to figure that one out.  New drive ... no issues since.  I was lucky there was enough life left in it to pull off a clone.
