21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who to Trust, Fiat Banks or BTC? on: July 26, 2021, 08:44:46 AM
I'm always sacred keeping my hard earned money in a bank because I know it won't remain the same as I kept it. Not that it would increase but it would have decreased by an annoying sum over time. I would rather invest in bitcoin where I know that I could make profits with my cash, even if the price of Bitcoin goes down I am rest assured it will come up later.

Now about my data. Really I don't know who to trust with that. Banks that suddenly close down lose data. One way or the other to say that they sell the data. Thats very possible. Also crypto companies can't really be banked on to be exclusive about your information about you.

That is quite the naive opinion. Saying that you invest in Bitcoin to increase your money sounds like if it were guaranteed that that is going to happen. Sure you have the devaluation due to inflation in a normal bank, but it is still quite a safe place to keep your money. Also, what you have in a bank is often also the money you need on a daily basis. Not a good idea to put money into Bitcoin that you might need in a week from now because Bitcoin might fall by 20% over the course of a week.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin security in the long term on: July 24, 2021, 10:21:08 AM
When you talk about the fees for off-chain transactions, are you thinking about exchanges dividing their profits with miners? Or what other off-chain transactions are there that generate a fee?
LN as of now still settles transactions on-chain so that'll be opening or closing a channel. If there is a still some degree of scarcity with on-chain transactions, then these kinds of settlement transactions will be more expensive but users won't have to pay a great deal of money when you spread it over to the many transactions that the user could've made while on LN.
For now we still have enough time to figure out a way to make Bitcoin work even when there are no coinbase transactions anymore. But that is still some time to go.
Coinbase transactions will always exist. They're the only required transaction in a Bitcoin block.

You are of course right about coinbase transactions will forever exist. I meant that one day coinbase transactions will just not have a block reward anymore, my fault.

But what I still can't get my head around is if we don't have a block reward anymore, or let's say a block reward very close to zero, do you think fees will still be sufficient to keep the network running / the miners mining while at the same time be feasible enough to allow for micro transactions at scale?
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who to Trust, Fiat Banks or BTC? on: July 24, 2021, 10:15:59 AM
I believe in both but I trust Bitcoin more. I still need a fiat bank because I still transact with my clients using fiat
btw, the thing I don't like the most from bank is that they always ask questions which I don't think are important when I want to send a large amount of money

Bitcoin is different because we don't use third parties to make transactions, we can send large amounts of money anytime and anywhere
Bitcoin is a miracle
I also agree with you, but I want to acknowledge Fiat as a trusted bank because Fiat is controlled by the government and also because fiat uses a centralized financial system and can be regulated differently from bitcoin which uses a decentralized system that cannot be controlled by anyone to be printed at will.
that's the reason i trust bitcoin more

Both systems in their current form have their advantages and disadvantages. Depending on how well you can deal with technology you may prefer one over another. I think it is still cumbersome to hold Bitcoin securely and transact with it perhaps on a daily basis. Maybe not for the younger people who grew up with their iPhones, but for many others it's still complicated to handle. For them banks are the better option for now.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or Bitcoin which is best. on: July 24, 2021, 10:13:21 AM
Bitcoin and ethereum is now increasing the price day by day. How how to choose and invest the coin. Bitcoin or ethereum which is the best future investment and how to invest the coins. Kindly explain me the Bitcoin and ethereum coins deats. Kindly share the link also. Which is best opportunity for invitations coins. Kendriya give me your advice to invest the best coins
Bitcoin and Etherum are both the best in the market, the price of both is always stable and if there is a decline it will occur slowly, I see in the market the price of Etherum always follows the price of BTC. For example, every time BTC goes up, ETH also follows according to their respective standards, if you want to invest in these two coins it depends on the funds you have, if funds are limited we should buy Etherum on the market. and analyze market movements well, for large amounts of funds, it is better to invest in BTC in the long term to get maximum profit.

Maybe declines don't really happen slowly, but what you can be relatively sure about is that there is a lot of potential for recovery in contrast to other coins. In that regard Bitcoin and Ethereum aren't competitors, they are both market leaders in their respective segment and they are the safest investments regarding the risk of potentially losing it all. Other coins are much more prone to destroying your whole investment.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or Bitcoin which is best. on: July 22, 2021, 08:42:42 AM
When it comes to deciding for a long term investment outlook in Cryptocurrency, I will take bitcoin instead of ethereum.  Bitcoin has been before ethereum came along. The factors that make bitcoin the number one Cryptocurrency are still there and are been strengthen as the days goes by.  Ethereum without a doubt has been a good altcoin but bitcoin is more decentralized than ethereum.  So,  I will go for bitcoin!

Undoubtedly, Bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency in the world. ETH is second next to Bitcoin, with its advanced smart contract capabilities. Both projects are pioneers in their respective areas (decentralized applications and finance), so chances of another competitor taking their place in the future are very slim. Instead of focusing on being the best blockchain network, crypto projects should focus on working together to make our world a better place. It's not about an specific cryptocurrency, but rather Blockchain technology at its core. As long as decentralized cryptocurrencies exist, people will be able to enjoy true financial freedom outside the clutches of evil banks, corporations and governments alike. With how big crypto/Blockchain tech has become in just 12 years since its inception, existing cryptocurrencies will only become better over time. Just my thoughts Grin

If the two networks are fundamentally different in the purposes they serve, what is the point in comparing them in the first place? Of course both have some functions in common, but the specific purpose they are supposed to serve in the moment are different. I've always seen them as two completely different projects with different goals. If you'd add a specific characteristic to the title, that would make much more sense. Like ETH or Bitcoin - which is best in terms of X.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH high gas fee on: July 22, 2021, 08:32:59 AM
ETH gas fee is keep decreasing since this year, i think they already done with the ETH 2.0 preparation and the gas back to normal, last time i sent transaction with just only 20 gas and it arrived under 10 mins. So i think ETH still a good coins compared to it's competitor like BNB which has lower value.

It is lower in USD because ETH fell so much in price, but also in terms of Gwei yes. Though it still varies a lot depending on the time between 5 Gwei and 40 Gwei or so. That is still quite a huge difference and far from the stability we would usually need. Even now Uniswap is often still not feasible. I don't know but somehow they charge an extra fee anyway.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who to Trust, Fiat Banks or BTC? on: July 22, 2021, 08:19:04 AM
In fact, people will believe all the currencies that are measured in dollars. Because Bitcoin is measured directly in dollars. You can even reserve your money in the bank as a dollar or fiat. You have to calculate your assets in Fiat currency. So bitcoin not Fiat is the main sign of your wealth.
This is true and if we do really think of on where bitcoin do really get its value then its on fiat itself which means people would still end up on using fiat in the end of the day.
Bitcoin turns out to be store of value on where most people been thinking of this way and when it comes to trust then we do trust up bitcoin but people would normally be going
back to conversion to fiat since bitcoin isnt still a main currency where you can spend and use it everywhere. So its normal that people would still stick out to fiat.

That shows how powerful the dollar actually is. Whatever you would use to buy something, the seller would check what the value in USD is for whatever you use for payment. It's a remarkable position the United States is in due to the fact that there currency is the world or reserve currency.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who to Trust, Fiat Banks or BTC? on: July 10, 2021, 02:46:21 PM
Bitcoin could be the future of finance, but might not be in my lifetime. We should use what is accessible by most to say that it is credible. Compared to Bitcoin; Banks are more open and mainstream. Even though Bitcoin has a great utility potential, Banks are still stapled for livelihood benefits.
Answer to the question, there is a huge probability of encountering a problem with banks compared to Bitcoin since we solely manage it.
Bitcoin is much more reliable as long as you know how to operate.

Banks are more open and mainstream just because banks are older. There is nothing that plays a bigger role than banks' age. I am sure banks will be quite outdated in a decade or two decades from now if they don't completely change. You can see already that pure online banks are taking over. Only elder people still need to go to a bank personally. For everyone else most processes are widely automated and what can't be automated can be done via video calls and identification calls and what not. Give Bitcoin some time and it will be mainstream.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin security in the long term on: July 10, 2021, 02:44:12 PM
Yes. The compensation for the miners comes in the fees within the blocks. I'm assuming that the volume of transactions by then or the derived fee as a result of off-chain transactions would be sufficient to compensate for it.

It is highly unlikely that Bitcoin would insecure by then. The way the block rewards are reduced gradually pads any impact on the miner's income and we're most likely going to see the impact far sooner than the 2140 timeline.

When you talk about the fees for off-chain transactions, are you thinking about exchanges dividing their profits with miners? Or what other off-chain transactions are there that generate a fee?
For now we still have enough time to figure out a way to make Bitcoin work even when there are no coinbase transactions anymore. But that is still some time to go.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Crypto be more valuable than gold? on: July 10, 2021, 02:41:56 PM
There is no need to hesitate with bitcoin because it is a long-term and very promising asset,
at least we can see the price of bitcoin every year go up,
although gold is also a good investment but I will still choose bitcoin and for sure everyone has their own view about bitcoin or gold investment

Yes, everyone is free to decide whether they want to invest in BTC or gold, everyone has their own perspective, for myself when looking at the price, BTC is easier to increase, but gold has an advantage where the price tends to be more stable.

I am all for those who choose whatever they wish to do. What I don't like that much is if you constantly attack the people who invest in something you don't invest into. Everybody should do as they please. Bitcoin has its merits beyond doubt and gold does, too. What you often see is hardcore gold investors attack cryptocurrencies with arguments that we have been hearing for almost a decade now.

32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% Attack on: June 06, 2021, 11:23:22 PM
Has anyone wargamed a 51% attack on Bitcoin? How would it go down. What defensive measures could be taken.

Who knows if anyone ever tried, but to date there has never been a successful 51% attack on Bitcoin. There have been successful attacks on other coin though, but by now it is practically impossible to see any such attack on Bitcoin for the foreseeable future.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance too big to fail? on: June 06, 2021, 11:20:22 PM
Binance is absolutely one of the biggest exchanges right now. But it is not an impediment for it to fail at some point. Every company etc. has a chance to fail. Maybe it seems really low for Binance but there is a chance of course.

No, it is THE biggest exchange by far. Just go to coinmarketcap and check the data and you will see how overwhelming their number 1 position in the overall ranking actually is.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance too big to fail? on: June 03, 2021, 10:01:57 PM
Let's put it like this: we all agree it is BIG! But can it fail? Well any company can fail. Make a mistake, innovate the wrong way or not at all. Many reasons why out of a sudden it could be game over. Wouldn't be the first tech company to die although nobody expected it.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are there so many negative posts about BTC lately? on: June 03, 2021, 10:00:45 PM
Do they come from the Dogecoin supporters?

I remember way back when BTC and Dogecoin supporters were friends, it's not happening anymore I guess. Now Dogecoin supporters hope to take over BTC Cheesy It's not gonna happen.

Too bad this meme coin has been destroyed like that giving it nothing more than a pump and dump status. Thank you Elon!  Roll Eyes

I don't think the negative news related to BTC is an attack from the Doge Coin community. I believe that this is more to do with knocking out BTC and other top altcoins from weak hands, and within a short time, the price of all cryptocurrencies will again show growth and new peaks in their prices. such situations on the market have already happened more than once. However, the Doge Coin community and Elon Musk himself really added fuel to the fire in the market, but I think this is just a manipulation.

There is attacks from all sides if anything performs well and Bitcoin does perform well. If the Doge community has to do with the attacks it would be sad because they harm the overall space with it and give the media reason to draw attention to the negative sides. They would only delay the establishment of crypto globally.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shopping time guys. Fill your bags now. on: June 03, 2021, 09:59:34 PM

Fall of the market is a good time to buy different altcoins. Now NFT are very popular and NFT are growing in price more then tokens, that is why they are so popular. Now apear evern NFT shops https://twitter.com/spacegrime/status/1396859918250958852 where you can buy differnt goods with images NFT.

Now a lot of good projects appear and there is a big competition between them. Investors now have a big variety of the projects to invest but it is very important to check everything before investing to make the best choice.

I think that big competition is very useful for cryptocurrency industry. Thank competition cryptocurrency projects will develop more quickly and will become more useful for people.

Competition is very important but when you see how may total fails there are it only destroyed important investment capital and made people leave the space.

38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are there so many negative posts about BTC lately? on: May 22, 2021, 07:35:39 PM
If you think about Bitcoin's past there were always negative news all the time. Bitcoin will die, Bitcoin gets hacked and so on and so forth. Banks talked badly, other companies talked badly, news outlets spread bad news. It doesn't impact Bitcoin anymore. interestingly enough it's the good news that impact Bitcoin while the bad news get mostly overheard.
We have heard bad news like that often, and it has always been a hot issue related to controversial bitcoin. There are definitely those who support decentralization, and there are those who don't. hence, news like that became a hot issue to confuse the situation. maybe someone took the opportunity to buy bitcoin at a cheap price again, and for those who are sure to always say that it is bitcoin ruin.
But look, even though there have been many storms during this decade, and there are always hard times where the market is very saturated around 2018-2019, now BTC is showing its prowess again.
just think of the news as a decoration, if the price continues to go up it's not good either, a decline is also needed for market balance.

That's how it always goes, you will hav opponents and proponents, but the overall value of Bitcoin today shows that the lobby that Bitcoin has become quite strong. Even the banks aren't talking as aggressively against Bitcoin as they used to in the past because they have their own customers that want their banks to open up for Bitcoin and allow them to trade it on a large scale.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance too big to fail? on: May 22, 2021, 07:31:16 PM
Binance has grown into a force to reckon with since its establishment in 2017. In just 4 years since inception, Binance dominates the crypto market being the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. Its most successful venture has been the launch of a public smart contract platform dubbed "Binance Smart Chain". The native cryptocurrency "BNB" went from being worth cents to hundreds of dollars (USD) in just a few years since inception.

It seems to me that Binance has huge influence over the crypto/Blockchain industry. Sometimes I wonder if the world's biggest crypto exchange is too big to fail. With no signs of decline, Binance is on a road to widespread success in the mainstream world. This is bad because it'll make crypto heavily centralized.

What are your thoughts? Is Binance too big to fail? If not, why? Do you think Binance has too much power/influence over the crypto/Blockchain industry? How will it affect crypto (either positively or negatively) in the long term? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

Well if they don't screw it up legally in the most important jurisdictions / markets I don't see them slowing down anytime soon. They have established subsidiaries all over the world, which is quite smart as any country causing them trouble could also lose them as a major player in their industry. Binance established a smart network that makes them highly agile should they get in trouble in one place, they'll just go elsewhere.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost all my crypto gains this not fair! on: May 22, 2021, 07:28:46 PM
You're looking too much in the charts, OP. When you last bought those and when you last sold something?
Haven't hodled any of those before except for ETH and traded back ADA.
You shouldn't panic, because everyone could be saying the same as you already but aren't minding the dips happening lately.

It also depends on what he understands when he asks if it is recoverable. As USD in your pockets or as cryptos on your blockfolio? Even if the coins make it back to those prices you mentioned you would still have to sell them at those prices. That part of the game is what most traders forget. They enjoy all those games on paper and out of a sudden the market crashes, all those gains are gone. You also have to realize them.
