the only disadvantage with L2 is the fact that they always have their value plummeting after listing though, optimism, arbitrum, and many more just outright never increase again.

I disagree, every single new project has a significant amount of risk attached to it, now you may invest in the best new project available and the risk would still be high, as even if that project may have a lot of potential, that potential is not a reality yet.
Remember projects can collapse for all kind of reasons, like being hacked, one of the developers running away with the money, another similar project being released with better execution of the core idea of that coin and so on.
thats always the thing with investing in new projects, too much saturated with scams but some of them are indeed high quality like the ones coming out from reputable platform. therefore you need to choose diligently which one is promising, otherwise it will be the same as investing in shit coin that should be avoided because of scammy. |

Ethereum is the best altcoin i must say that it's top altcoin all of the time, it's good move to buy Ethereum but don't invest in 1 coin, you know how much it will risk to put everything in one basket. I am investing different coins i would like to high priority in Bitcoin, so i spent half of money in this coin.
considering the fact that usually everything revolves around bitcoin i just think that the words putting everything in one basket is highly overestimated, because all altcoins will just move in unison. |

I personally not interested to investing in new altcoin, because it is very risky, unless the altcoin is already listed on a major exchange, therefore my advice is if you are already making a profit, so it is better for you to take profit of at least 80%, because it is better to invest in old altcoin which do have a small risk, such as Ethereum, Binance, Ripple, Matic and ADA. It's riskier indeed to invest in new altcoins but the profit will be bigger too, although it still needs further consideration before deciding that, The old altcoin as you mentioned has strong fundamentals and there is no need to doubt it for investment. well sometimes its just 1 out of 100 new coins generated that gonna gain success, just imagine investing in all of them you'd wasted 99 times of your investment and only gaining profit that 1 times, which hardly outweight the other. the thing with investing with altcoin that not even got listed in some exchange is that its pure gamble with little odds. |

it still comes down to different categories of altcoin usually having different kind of people interested, the meme coins ones are mostly some gamblers and speculators, meanwhile the altcoin that based or revolve around fundamental are those investors that are interested in holding it for long term. but the motivation is the same, because the return gained are massive.
