21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: March 22, 2014, 10:39:55 PM
Seriously? Is anybody of so called "datacoin community" interested in datacoin development or everybody is floating in the comfortable zone of predicting the future of cryptocurrencies and philosophy in general...? Or, maybe nobody hasn't seen my previous posts? So, let me rephrase:
New Datacoin High Performance, embracing security, stability and performance improvements of Primecoin-HP12 is available for download and testing at http://github.com/g1g0/datacoin-hp !!!
Should I f*ckin' pay somebody for compiling and running the code? YES - 50DTC will go to the first person who posts on this sluggish thread her/his SERIOUS impressions about running the Datacoin port of HP12 ...

If it comes to mining, the hp12-based datacoind seems to outperform the old one by ... 4% (based on 60 "chainsperday" samples taken every minute - is this a reliable measure?).
Well - better than nothing, I guess  Roll Eyes

Hi!

any chance that someone has time to work with core code? Smiley
No much work to do with the core. If someone has some free time the HP12 optimizations could be ported to the hp branch of the client.
This would provide some performance improvement over the previous client.

I ported hp12 changes to datacoin-hp. I diffed primecoin-0.1.2-hp11 against primecoin-0.1.2-hp12 and primecoin-0.1.2-hp11 against datacoin-hp. Based on these two diffs I selected files that could be patched automatically. The remaining part I patched manually. I compiled and run it on linux x86_64 only. Please test it ON A NEW WALLET (or backup first) and let me know how it works.

Hi,
Honestly, I don't see any other way around - you have to put the CPU into something that interfaces it with memory, network, I/O devices... MB were designed for that.

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Free (like in freedom) pool for Datacoin (and Primecoin, maybe) on: January 07, 2014, 10:56:02 AM
Hello,
I wanted to set up a small pool for my machines mining Datacoin (which is a great, reasonable coin I have to admit). It turns out that there is no open software/source for this purpose, as I was Informed somewhere here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=384112.msg4356237#msg4356237
I think having a pool is very convenient even if you have 2 machines mining - everything is gathered in one wallet, which makes life easier.
Can anybody share some info on how to build a pool for primes-based coins? There are only few of them now. I think it could increase the popularity of the coin as more people would be involved in building pools and spreading the news.
I would like to invest some time in programming the thing - I just want to get as much information about it as possible before I start reinventing the wheel (unfortunately - it is really like that).
Any ideas? Is there any primecoin-based pool mastah able to share some wisdom with the community? Wink
Best,
g
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DTC-Guide to Pool Mine Datacoins.Earn 0.5-2 or more $ per day with your cpu! on: January 07, 2014, 02:11:26 AM
I dont think it is as easy as you think and it is clearly not as easy as pools for all the scrypt coins. The reason is that as a primecoin fork only a few people right now know how  to make a pool. Its totally different algorithm. But i am not really familiar with how pools work anyway to help Smiley

I see it as a problem that only few people know how to do it. Is there any idea behind this secrecy? Why its not like that for scrypt based coins?

o.O ? What do you mean? A guide for making a pool? You are either confused or i dont understand the question.

Cheesy Thank you for your quick reply.
Yes, I know its slightly offtopic Smiley I would like to know how to set up a pool for datacoin, like pushpool or alike. Is there any ready to use software/source code?

Hi,
How about installing and running the pool itself? Don't you think it would be beneficial for the coin to write such a guide? I'm afraid I am too fresh in the subject for writing one...

Bump! Smiley
To make it simpler (I am a newbie...) could anybody please tell me what is the difficulty rewriting for, or point me to the right answer?
Please please ?

30  Other / Beginners & Help / difficulty rewriting by pushpool on: December 04, 2013, 01:17:35 PM
Hello!
I could not find a clear answer to the following question (and few more): What is the purpose of rewriting the target difficulty in pushpull? To be more precise, For my solo mining I've set up litecoind, pushpool-tenebrix and cudaminers getting their work from that pushpool. I put the following line in my pushpull config file:

"rpc.target.bits" : 32

which, from what I understand, lowers the miners' perception of the target difficulty. What I noticed is, that with this setting my miners inform me about accepted solutions sometimes (yay!!!), but so far these are being rejected - I did not successfully solve any block yet. Without this setting, my miners do not submit any results so far (for checking it I installed rollproxy between pushpool and miners). Do I get it right, that without the target rewriting, when the miner submits a solution it will be most probably accepted by the network (if I'm the first of course)? Besides the changed network load (I found such an explanation somewhere) does the rewriting make any sense? Is it normal, that miners do not submit anything without rewriting (so rollproxy does not shows that my hashrate is 0 after 5 days of work) until (if...) I really solve the block?
In case that a clear answer already exists, I am sorry for the spam.
Best Regards,
gigo
