Pools are always better than solo mining, this is just because you will find blocks more frequently and depending on the pool type, you will not lose anything with this.

In the case of my pool (http://www.mxpool.com) we have a good antibruteforce system together with a good anti-injection checking.

So you wouldn't run into issues there.

However, there are pools using common software everywhere, which just put the users in risk.

Not saying problems can't happen, but the chances are relatively small with own software !

I wanted to know a little about the LTC algorithm


Which is the calculation, used to determine the time spent per block ?

Also, which would be the calculation to determine the Kilohashes/second per worker ?
I saw in simplecoin it did something like : ((shares*2^32)/600)/10^6), but I suspect this is for BTC, while for litecoin it would be something similar to :
(((shares*2^16~19)/600)/10^3) ? Or would I be wrong ?

I solved it, I discovered that LTC works based in scrypt algorithm .

So had to use -a scrypt parameter in the command line.
