I tryed to get Orbitcoin going, its quite broken.

Are you the owner or so? I've also invested a big amount of money in that one Smiley But Orbitcoin is already trading on cryptsy, yes... so you already have the biggest market. The problem with Orbit is the premined coins. You can motivate people buy give them extra coins when they are mining with you. Also tell the people what you want to sell, what you achieve, what the plans are. Marketing is key in this kind of business, look at coinyee west, new coin, a lot of hype and nothing to offer. Small coins like ESM (eSportMoney) and OGC (OnlineGamingCoin) have a lot more to offer, but having problems with marketing. Now i'm putting some effort in OGC (OnlineGamingCoin) to let them grow again, as it was almost dying, but at least something is happening now on the marketing side.

I'm not the dev for orbit, but there are definite block chain issues and its not even possible to mine atm.

Awesome. So now we're stuck with newchg.com as the only exchange we can use to trade with without getting fucked over, and even then that's not a real exchange (it's just basically a spreadsheet that doesn't do anything other than list orders, trading still has to be done person-to-person or via escrow) and it doesn't even work (Can't sell or buy for less than 1BTC, which is obviously a problem).

I wish I could say I was surprised.

I get that the site might be having issues, but do they think that alienating western miners and traders is a good idea at all? I was actually about to switch back to mining MONA since I had finally gotten the hang of trading on that site, not happening now though. I'm done with this coin entirely once I sell off my remaining MONA.

What a laugh. Probably to keep out the Chinese mega-rig dumpers.

I should buy up all the cheap MONA and dump them there using my Tokyo VPN just because.

Exactly, from the 2ch thread:

Quote
前スレで書いてたPump&Dumpが怖いな。
 有名になったとして上場したら外人勢が一気に売ってくるだろうし、
 それに耐えられるだけの市場価値(使い道)ができてくるかが勝負だろうな

they are actually afraid of foreigns ruining their chance at crypto-currency.

Based on Mona twitter feed, they OP changed the wording as to not be to brash...my version of Google translate on the exchange now reads:

"For Foreigners :.. Provide We do NOT support any English at any time Non-Japanese speakers Are discouraged to use this service Exchange Sorry for the Inconvenience."

So it seems less risky to use but without support....good luck

That sounds better, but obviously someone needs to school these people into how crypto currency works. Hell, all currencies for that matter.

There is absolutely nothing they can do to prevent the free market from invading their little "private" coin. The Mona devs should have used a 100% pre-mined model if that was the way they wanted to go, not an LTC clone!
If they didn't want the possibility of a pump and dump, use something else. I dunno, maybe serial numbered panties.  Roll Eyes

If I can get double ROI on a Japanese forum as apposed to in "the west" I'll call in a Japanese fluent friend to help me dump all my Mona via VPN.  Angry Nothing they can do to stop me.

Anyone that familiarizes themselves with the Japanese economy will quickly find that the cultural understanding of economics there is not quite what you'd expect anyway, in my mind I blame New Deal era American economic theory inherited from the mid 40's. But there is a Japanese translation of Human Action, so I yet have hope.

BitJohn,

If you are wondering where the trade volume has been outside of cryptsy, EAC most recently, up and coming MONA, theirs some interest in several questionable copyright infringement coins.

But honestly I don't advocate you add new coins at the moment, anyone and their brother that ever took CSIII is copypasta'ing barely edited copys of whatever that last coin was released, then dumping the resulting abomination, leaving most unsupported after a couple of weeks. I honestly think you should cull the least productive markets by 20% or so, to maintain some semblance of standards.

CoinYe West will be a total joke, it will never be worth anything.  Angela's one-eyed cat could create a better crypto currency with it's good eye shut.

I wouldn't trust Kanye to be a celery farmer.

Doge was a total joke and look what happened.

The multipools are STILL mining it.
I totally agree. DOGE is indeed a good example of a coin that was in the beginning promising but was laughed with and make a very nice progress
The media attention for Coinye can also not be misunderstood.

I have my mining system ready for Coinye.

Yea doge is doing awesome...

Still willing to buy your mona stake:

min amount: 500
max amount: 5000

0.000405 LTC per 1 MONA

Quite a good price considering it very near the new production price(including capital costs).
If the price is much higher then its a better investment to simply sink another two or three hundred dollars into mining equipment, and that is likely to have greater long-term profitability with much lower risk.
Buying above this price would be unwise, anyone doing so should consider the above and realize their investment could be much better spent on additional hardware, and they would be setting themselves up for another repeat of dogecoin or earthcoin at a slightly slower rate.

Jesus christ nobody's going to sell at that price. I sold around 1500 for a total of 0.07 BTC and I still think I got the worse end of that deal, but I just want out of this coin ASAP. What you're asking for would have only netted me around 0.0177 BTC. I would have rather simply given that away than sold it if it were that cheap.

You might have more luck in a few week's time buying at that price, but not right now, anyone selling at that price is nuts. If you really want MONA that badly just go buy some equipment. Though seeing that the Japanese are already trying to push away outsiders (as usual) I'm not sure why anyone would still be too interested in this coin.

I'm interested, but only to the point where it makes economic sense.
Your response only reinforces my assessment, the only reason people want an exchange so far is because they've been conditioned by things like doge and eac, and they want that quick exit, high profit before simple economic reality brings it crashing back to earth. People pop in mine a few days or hours and dump to the gullible while the price is inflated well beyond what it would otherwise be.
You talk about dumping to the gullible, but anyone that is convinced to sell at that price at this point in time is just as bad.

Caveat emptor of course, but I figured a dose of reality just what people need right now. As it stands people should be hoping they don't get an accessible exchange soon, soon as there is one, the sells will quickly outpace the buys, and the valuation will be beat to death, multipools anyone?

This is the only new currency I believe in the moment. I tried going to 2ch with google translate and there is a huge amount of users talking about the coin, too bad it seems that they're mining this with their toasters

Don't sell Japanese toasters short, most probably have voice recognition, play mp3s, and transform into a robot cat schoolgirl with karate chop action. ) _)

To put this all in perspective,

We are talking about something with a miner base less than 500 people maximum, 11 days into the market, to expect that the entirety of the market is worth even $50,000 let alone 100 or 200k at this early stage is certainly a big stretch.

Bump, does anyone know the current MONA/BTC rate?
Without vetted and accessible exchange ready, I give the following advice.
There are some very high sell offers but I strongly advise against paying above $0.01usd(or about 0.00045 LTC), which is about the current avg production price(including capital costs) per MONA for new entrants. Meaning anything more than that I would advise you simply invest in additional hardware, as it would likely give you more return on your investment, with far less risk.

Well, let's say I have 3k, how much would I be able to get out of it?

By the numbers I would give that a maximum value of about 1.35 LTC using todays numbers.
It may be worth crazy prices in the future, and its far less inflationary then things like Doge or Earthcoin, so it is more likely to maintain and or increase its value as a function of time if it is lucky enough gain greater acceptance.

Outside of that I'll also say its worth what someone will pay, I'm sure someone will disagree with my valuation, and that's there right, but at the end of the day I'm a businessman whos job it is to make the most money possible, and after running the numbers it becomes more profitable to buy mining equipment at prices over that.

I'm sure someone the right person may give you more, and if you can get lots more go for it, caveat emptor.

Willing to buy your mona stake:

min amount: 500
max amount: 5000

0.0004 LTC per 1 MONA

A very generous offer for this yet unlisted coin.

Price too low

I don't think its entirely out of line for a coin that hasn't even reached the low volume alt exchanges, may not even get listed at all, there's a significant risk.
Using the data I've collected I've calculated the current market entry price to be quite close to $0.01 usd per mona*, those who started before much earlier than today would have less invested in proportion to share of the total stake they now hold.

Early adopters have the opportunity now to exit the market, without incurring losses, likely getting a fair profit, while the buyers(myself included) assume the very high risk of a asset with extremely low liquidity, and the fair chance of 0% R.O.I.

Economics are one of my primary fields of expertise, I normally don't work for free, so don't expect any more free assessments.  (But contact me if you need someone to crunch the numbers and work out the economics of a coin)

*(My full mona assessment is not included here, but is written in my notebook if needed)

This may be true, but it doesn't make your offer "very generous". It is a calculated risk, therefore reasonable, not generous.

Calculated risk, true, but I consider it a generous offer since the lifetime cost per unit averages far less than the current entry price. Paying greater than new unit price for an asset that has a high and very real risk of total loss(0% R.O.I.) and nearly zero liquidity, would be unwise. Anything greater than new unit cost is illogical from my standpoint, and I've offered greater than 90% of that, therefore calculated generosity.
