21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 07:44:45 PM
Gees... This seems bad, however I have to wonder how long this can be sustained. There are so many what ifs I guess.

I wonder how much they are deploying at a time.

BitFury rhythm is about 10-20MW every two months. The 25% three jumps ago was their 20MW Georgian DC.

Would something like this work?

Anyone have a link for what mounting rails/ears? Or specs on what to buy?

Should add meant for Sp30.

The dimension allegedly are: D 554 X W 431 X H 88.4 mm.
I'm personally considering buying this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291075344625?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Does anyone know if there will be any problem with plugging my 2 x SP30 at my apartment, in United Kingdom, to 230v 50Hz mains socket? Someone on the forum once mentioned something about some issue.

I just need the mounting ears for a standard data center 2U rack mount. Not sure what you call them. That seems like a ton of heat for an Apartment. I use air cooling in a Large Garage I pay for and its quite warm with 4000KW. Unless your Apartment is very Large?

I'm basically just curious, seems like a lot of power for an Apartment I guess.

26  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: July 01, 2014, 02:36:37 PM

I've known about this since Dec.  Can't really say much else other than I'm working on a bit right now.

I'm curious what the time frame is for this, that way I can prepare to turn off all my personal miners as the Diff goes up 40% a pop.

I don't really see this as a great thing for bitcoin, I guess the fun couldn't last forever for the smaller miners.
27  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 25, 2014, 02:56:00 AM
6TH/s @ 2,500W for $5,000 (8.8 BTC) in September.

Assume delivery on September 1st. (optimistic)
Assume low electricity cost of 5c/kWh
Assume difficulty increases of 15% per period (conservative, we're currently 4 days from an estimated jump of 29%).

The result? A net loss of 0.7 BTC before turning it off in June 2015.

What am I missing here?

Its just going to keep going at 15% forever.. and ever..

I think you need to be a little more realistic, so you spend 9 coins now for a sept delivery box, your probably getting more than 9 coins back, it wont come in a month, but you still see return. These 15% forever numbers where the network is 20-30 times that of today seem a tad unrealistic. Will the network jump a lot more from today to Sept? Yep, will it be 1,036,674,835,832 diff? We shall see but I doubt it.
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Hardware Support **Unofficial on: June 09, 2014, 10:35:01 PM
Thanks for creating this thread as I'm sure many owners (like me) have ongoing problems with these supposedly multifunctional paperweights.

It's been a few months since I've turned on this miner and in the beginning it worked fine hashing at 1.6TH with temps in the range of 75-85C (core).
My troubles started when CTA1 started to report inconsistent temperatures usually +15-20C above CTA0 while ambient temps have not been changed.

Shortly after this anomaly CTA1 started to throttle very often. I have cleaned the original thermal paste and reapplied a known quality brand.
This seemed to fix the issue for several weeks and CTA1 was within 5C range and I was a happy miner (my overall temps have gone down considerably too).

Next I encountered the "dead core" cointerra disease, as half of CTA1 disappeared. I was reflashing and restarting this diabolic device multiple times and disconnected/reconnected all the connectors inside to resolve this issue.

Couple of weeks after I'm again seeing CTA1 throttling very often meanwhile the reported hashrate is 1.3-1.5TH (temps in the 80-95C range).

I'm thinking about ordering quality thermal pads due to the unevenness of the chips surface and using a proper wc loop ("luckily" I have spare parts - will report back when it's done).

Do any of you found a permanent fix or tried something else with success?

I used this http://www.frozencpu.com/products/7038/thr-41/Innovation_Cooling_Diamond_7_Carat_Thermal_Compound_-_15_Grams.html

I also used Arctic Clean to clean up the huge mess first. You want to put a small drip of compound on each chip. They say pea sized on the instructions but I used a little less for each chip since they are a lot smaller than a CPU.

I have had it running stable for 3 weeks now with no temp rises.

I had tried Arctic silver first but that didn't help at all, the Cooling Diamond was like night and day and has been working fantastic.

Haha, wow I apparently had mined quite a few over that time.  Thanks!
31  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: May 29, 2014, 04:56:38 PM
So I am guessing we should not be expecting anymore retails sales? Just threw a Kill-a-Watt meter on my 2 rigs, they hash at 735 GH/s and use 728W. Shame I will not be able to add anymore of these to my farm.

I've moved onto Bitmain and A1 clones Sad Love my BF rigs, and it's a pity we can't purchase more at a competitive price.

 Oh well.

Yeah, compared to cointerra these things are fantastic, and you can keep them cool with just a fan in the summer heat.

I'd love to fill out my last miner as well.

Its the same excuse I use about exercise, I am way to busy for that.

34  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: May 26, 2014, 05:48:05 PM
I noticed a very nice pbmining market,
but now the price is getting lower GHS,
whether it will continue to fall?

It'll continue to fall but difficulty will continue to rise just consider that aswell......

At some point it will level off. There is a limited supply of power out there, and Asics also have a barrier, its unlikely we see another jump like we did this past year.

Take for example that 20,132,644,564 is double the current network hash rate and how much power the current hash rate is consuming. I see people tossing out 120,132,644,564 difficulty in some of these calculator examples, is that even sustainable power wise?
35  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Terraminer IV - drops to 50% hashing after 24 - 30 hours... on: May 22, 2014, 07:33:56 PM
The question is why have they not patched SSL and released a Firmware.

Don't even get me started on that.. I send a weekly email asking this. Sometimes you just have to take it into your own hands and try to make it work.  Undecided

I tried to build it and patch it myself, however its above my ability. If it was a normal distribution it would be simple.

I remember someone (maybe you?) - had a Cointerra thread started about trying to fix/tweak the UI to work as it should have out of the factory but the end result never happened.

The SSL thing is such an annoying PITA to look at every time I log in.

Not me, I am great at fixing thing, but not much for coding.

I am just more annoyed my network is vulnerable to attack should they get entry. I have things locked down to make it difficult, but hackers these days, if they want it they will get it.

38  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: May 12, 2014, 07:40:09 PM
LOL did you guys see the news from cointerra.

They are now offering 1-2 year mining contracts.  12 month contract for 2TH cost $8000, which is 0.009 btc/gh (8000/440/2000).  That's 30% more expensive than cex.io (already overpriced), only lasts 12 months, and doesnt have a market to be easily traded like cex.

What a joke, those guys should just fold shop. Gig is up.

yep.  they delivered underspec garbage for 6K.  the lawsuits are coming, and that will be the end of that....

Class action I hope?

Luke can you tell us what is happening with the NMC payouts? Will those be happening again? I know its been rebuilding for quite some time since a breach way back. Any word on it would be great.

Thanks,

Doff
I know nothing about this.

Well, that's no good. Maybe Wiz has the answer I hope?
