21  Economy / Collectibles / Re: "Bitcoin Collection: Exploring the Variety of Physical Bitcoins" on: November 01, 2023, 07:23:04 PM
Bro I think you’re right that it is A.I.  yesterday I spent a few mins trying to find her contact email to send her the info from this post to show her how much she butchered it but I could not find her email.  I gave up.

Just for fun, I ran the article through my AI content detection process and you were right: it is completely AI generated.

Here are the results of the 3 most reliable AI detectors I've come across:

Sapling.ai: 99.9% Fake
Hivemoderation: 99.9% likely to contain AI Generated Text
Copyleaks: AI Content Detected

Its somewhat amazing that this publication has no check in place for this sort of thing.

This is outstanding, thanks for the useful links.

22  Economy / Collectibles / Re: satori roll pricing difference on: October 30, 2023, 02:17:05 PM
The inherent value of the pre fork lies in the earlier the coin the more sought after it is. The value isnt necessarily in the forks. The closer you get to coin 00001 the more value you coins have. There is a quest to get the lowest satori and value increases the lower you get.

I am not sure this is true, except with very low serial numbers.

Personally, I prefer the post fork as the mintage numbers are significantly lower.

In my recent sales of both pre and post fork I priced them the same.

24  Economy / Collectibles / Re: NGC formally announces 250 Brass Cass Coins being Auctioned w/ Heritage Soon on: October 12, 2023, 01:26:35 PM
I spoke to them extensively on the phone today, they don’t usually do the $5000 deposit thing, but because of the value of each coin that’s what you got a pay to play. I have the credit app and I’m filling it out tomorrow to submit it, when I find out the terms I’ll let everybody know on the site. Being able to pay in bitcoin would be a major plus.

Currently looking at the credit app and the requirements and it is borderline an "anal probe" about 2 feet inside. lol. along with $5k deposit bank wire they want a letter signed by bank like a power of attorney  that allows the bank to release all banking account info showing current balances and such to the auction house. along with a resellers tax ID and a personal guarantee. As a long time business owner the only time I have seen more credit verification needed from myself was when I was trying to get a loan on a commercial piece of property, its almost that deep of a dive. I will continue to keep you all posted on my experience if you like.

Oooof, that is a big no from me.  I understand the deposit, but the rest is far too much.
25  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heating a Space via Mining on: October 04, 2023, 04:49:28 PM
Long overdue update.

I ended up heating the office trailer for 2 winters (2014 and 2015) using miners.  First winter was Rock Boxes second winter was Spoondoolies Jacksons.

With the power of HODL it was well worth doing compared to space heaters.

28  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Is NGC now grading physical cryptos? on: September 13, 2023, 06:57:25 PM
I was never a fan of NGC's slabs. They look like the cheap $1 holders you can buy on Ebay (see below), with their printed card inserted with details of coin and heated to secure closed. As Mopar mentioned, appear very easy to crack.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/295449901522

No, they absolutely can’t be opened easily. They are well crafted slabs that are as air tight as any.

I have cracked a few slabs.  The ANACS crack easiest imo.

Like fattcatt, I do love the history of the yellow label anacs slabs though.

Nice casing you have the roll wrapped in....care to share where you acquired the storage cylinder roll?

Also anyone know what the recent pre fork and post fork Satori rolls are going for?

That looks like an airtite coin holder tube.

35  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 10 BTC Casascius up for auction on Stacks Bowers on: August 20, 2023, 10:46:08 AM
Disappointing to see the 10 BTC go for the loaded value. Probably not the best timing given the sentiment around BTC and the broader financial markets.

A long held, but controversial, opinion of mine is that we will see the high load value coins (like the Cas 25 or even 10) trade at less than face value at some point.  There are risks such as a private key being illegible over time, the hologram has been tampered with, etc which will be priced in as the USD value of the coins increase.

36  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- Titan Mint Bitcoin Coins ***NEW UPDATES*** on: August 13, 2023, 11:54:51 AM
I'm starting the process of collecting owners info to get payouts made quickly for those that want the payout now.

Please DM me here or email tim@titanbtc.com to get that started.  Thank you in advance for your patience.

For those that are wanting to hold tight until more assets are available, I'll be formalizing a community of owners and will be working on creative ways to reduce the shortfall as much as possible.

I'm not hitting the eject button unless I'm legally obligated to do so.  I'll keep communicating as much as I can as the efforts to improve the situation solidify.  This forum isn't the best vehicle for that communication so please do DM me or email me to get on the list of owners receiving updates

I still want my 1btc payout from the "not yet funded" token that I peeled in 2016, Tim. You robbed me and I contacted the police and filed a police report over it, remember? Back then it was only a misdemeanor, but it seems that now you are looking at grand theft and wire fraud federal charges too. I have actually been considering writing an article shaming the SEC for going after Cascascius, but ignoring your crooked ass for so long even with people out millions of dollars showing up at FBI field offices pleading for a criminal prosecution.

> from what I understand the BTC for the two factor coins has been lost thru MTGOX all these years since 2014 and nothing was said about it?

This would not surprise me. Tim never showed proof that those coins were funded at all. I think he was day-trading with the "reserve" and lost it all, and then started coming up with excuses for why he wouldn't have to pay them back, like his claims of database corruption regarding the funding status of 2FA coins, like he did to me, as an excuse not to redeem my coin.

Regarding your upcoming novella to the SEC regarding Casascius coins, scratch that idea as it was FinCen who told Mike to knock it off.

Great job with the coins, I look forward to seeing what you make going forward.

The 1865 us dollar is a fun coin - Not real currency and not from 1865.

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia48947.html

Also the walking liberty from 1900 is fake.

I didn't check other coins but I really hope you didn't pay anything for those two i mentioned.

I agree on the 1900 walking liberty, have not looked at anything else and probably won't take the time.
39  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1 BTC Brass Casascius Coin 2011 (active) on: June 27, 2023, 08:57:05 PM
OP, you are setting yourself up as an easy mark to be scammed.

Either spend more time looking over this sub forum practices before trying to sell a high value loaded item yourself or hire a reputable/experienced forum member to conduct the sale and escrow for you.
