WEB 3.0

Many articles discuss the "revolution" 4.0. 5.0 6.0 or 7.0. I'm not very excited. Almost all are just buzzwords and add "zero dots" to increase the important part does not deserve.

I'm really excited. Is WEB 3.0.

Web 1.0 is revolutionary. Move all the books and information of mankind to something called Internet. This is one of the biggest turning points in history. Increase the human IQ significantly.

Web 2.0 takes Web 1.0 one step further by turning small individuals into independent publishers and publishers. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Blogging, Reddit. Making the publishing industry shake, producing focused content.

Web 2.0 generates a huge amount of personal database. And the "oil field" is exploited and held by empires like Google, Facebook, Amazon etc.

> 90% of Google and Facebook revenue come from advertising. Advertising is the traditional revenue model of Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 is a wonderful thing, connecting the world we have today. Web 2.0 turns all individuals into independent publishers.

However Web 2.0 has a shortcoming. The focus of the Data holding group ("oil"). And the advertising model created the intermediary. Independent content producers (individuals) are required to negotiate with intermediaries to make money (like YouTube, Google, Facebook, Amazon).

And BOOM !!! Web 3.0 was born. Bring the ability to make money for each individual by ignoring his intermediary. How? Use BLOCKCHAIN.

Database has become Databank.

Social Networking Minds is a typical example of Web 3.0 built on Blockchain. Rather than using ad models and exploiting user information. Minds uses Token as a currency to transfer values between users based on the value of the information they produce.

Steemit (Steem), Brave Browser (Basic Attention Token), IPFS, Storj, are gradually turning users into information owners and manufacturers no longer have to rely on intermediaries to make money. The Internet will become a gold mine for individuals instead of big ones thanks to Web 3.0.

Web 3.0 upgrades each individual from a standalone publisher to an independent bank + publisher.

Its HUGE.

Here is an infographic with more than 30 examples of Web 3.0

After a bit of hassle before been able to join this platform, glad to be finally here  Smiley. Basically, I am here to socialize, learn stuff about cryptos and probably conduct businesses (hopefully). So, here is my first learner's question;

What is that single, best advice you would give to a crypto noob?

Learn about Blockchain as much as you can

23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STO or ICO? on: August 12, 2018, 12:23:01 PM
STO tokens are more like buying share of a company being backed up by tangible assets. It is definitely more secure than ICO as there can be case of fraudulent ICOs who might run away with investor's money because their tokens are not backed by anything tangible. However, both have their pros and cons. Personally, I prefer STOs.

Security Token Smiley

STO is the new hype, The idea of STO came to light by a blockchain startup called Polymath headed by Trevor Koverko. The concept is gaining much traction as it more regulated which is the main issue with the ICOs.

blockchain is a technology that allows people to send and receive cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. However, this is much more than just a payment system. When Satoshi Nakamoto created the world's first cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), he also created a remarkable protocol known as blockchain....

Thanks,

Would like to add,

What is Blockchain-
The blockchain is a Decentralized Digital Ledger.

Blockchain Applications-
One of the most common applications is supporting digital currency such as the most popular and the first Crypto Coin -> Bitcoin.

Blockchain Generations-
Bitcoin Technology is known as the first blockchain generation.

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? No One knows, but Nick Szabo & Harold Finney are leading candidates.

Hi all,

I have been searching for true, real, serious education videos, books and similar kinds of stuff.
There are some good resources on Youtube, Udemy, Coursera etc. but none of them is a complete guide about blockchain and related technologies.
Do you know any distance learning program from any universities? It can be like a 2-year master program or a certification program. Of course, needless to say, I can't spend 10k$ - 20k$ for this. I wish but I can't.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Currently, I do not see any master program or long online course, I do suggest that you will learn by yourself

Here are some free and updated resources

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Explanation and type erc in eth on: July 27, 2018, 11:34:25 AM
Hi

Great review on the different types of ERC protocols, however, the list of main types is a bit bigger:

1. ERC 20
2. ERC 165
3. ERC 721
4. ERC 223
5. ERC 621
6. ERC 777
7. ERC 827
8. ERC 884
9. ERC 865

Further details on this list of ERC Tokens Protocols can be found here

Also, recommend for everyone to better understand the bug of ERC20 which led to ERC223 and improved in ERC 777.
erc20 vs erc223 vs erc777

The only open question is why most ICOs or SAFTS still using ERC20?

Thanks
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ORCA ALLIANCE - BANKING PLATFORM CONNECTING CRYPTO & FIAT SERVICES on: July 27, 2018, 10:58:02 AM
Hey  Smiley
Can you tell me what the difference between erc-20 and erc-777 is?  Grin

Sure
ERC 20 has a bug which may cause burning ether in some scenarios, while in ERC777 there is a solution for this bug and some other features like blacklisting addresses.

You can read more about ERC20 vs ERC223 vs ERC77

Ethereum is still promoting ERC20 while we know it has a bug, would love to have the list of the ERC777 ICOs.

Thanks

Hello  Smiley
Who can fairly briefly and intelligibly, explain how the bitcoin was born and how was its network launched?

One more fundamental question is Who Invented Bitcoin?

Is it Nick Szabo? OE was it Harold Finney? People are searching for them in google all day long...

Who is your leading candidate?

As said in the topic, how do you guys identify a good blockchain project or a bad one? There are so many projects being talked online...So confusing

Me first, I would check:
1. team background
2. website
3. whitepaper
4. quality of community

What about you?

Before understanding how the project is good => Make sure it is not a SCAM

-> Do not get impressed by the Awesome website and community as marketing can get a really you nice show.
-> I think Whitepaper maybe not enough, Why there is no MVP or Beta Verison?

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Being Scammed Again on: July 24, 2018, 08:44:20 PM
I've seen many users complaining about being scammed by ICO projects most of them are new investors which probably gonna be the next generation of investors in cryptocurrency industry. I've been here in the cryptocurrency industry for a year and I've invested into different projects and seen how they disappear in the thin air, so to avoid this I want to share to you my criteria on choosing the right ICO or project to invest in.

This is not guaranteed but maybe in some point it may help you atleast to reduce the possibility on getting scammed by ICO's, the list below are my personal criteria how I choose Project to invest with using bitcoin or other cryptocurrency:

  • Check the Background of the team (If the team didn't give info about each member of the team such as name previous projects, background, etc. There's a possibility that they will just run away with your money if they didn't give info's about their team.)
  • Read their whitepaper and look if it's really worth to invest with, their concept, etc. (This is important to know what the project is all about.)
  • Check the Social media accounts, If you find it very interesting presentable. (Join their telegram group in order to be updated.)
  • Check the Projects professionalism (How they handle users, control frauds, etc.)
  • Follow their Roadmap and other technical details and see if they meet it on time.
  • Look for the projects community and see if the community is active.
  • Look for special proof and validation.
  • Do your own research about the project such as review about the projects or you can also check the projects ANN thread to see comments who's agree/disagree or the communities idea about the project because ANN threads is like an open forum where you can ask, give insights, etc.

NOTE: Investment is one of the riskiest way to earn money. Invest only what you can afford to lose, in investment there's only two possible outcome it's either you will earn or you will learn. Learn from your mistakes.

Just like what I've said this steps are my personal steps on choosing ICO/Projects in where I'm going to invest in. This may not help you but I hope you'll learn at least a little in my little sharing. Have great day every one, ciao.

PS. If you have something to share in order to avoid scam or any topic related feel free to share so everyone will learn from us.

I think ICO as we know them almost dead, always read carefully the ICO white paper and learn about the team and their project execution capabilities!

40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you new to Crypto? Maybe you should read this... on: July 14, 2018, 10:10:03 AM
I've been an onlooker on this forum for a while now, even before I was a member I would look on here to learn...

I keep seeing people asking the same questions and I admire the patience of members who always look to help people out even if it is the 50th time of answering.

So if your new the best thing you can do is learn learn learn before you invest.

I know so many people who have been burnt in this world through investing blindly, trusting people and just being negligent looking for that quick buck.

So I am going to list 5 things you should do before making any investment:

- Learn how to research a coin to enable you to buy at the correct moment owning your decision making it the correct decision.
- ***Never put your Crypto into any platform that overs an ROI in interest such as Bitconnect, USI-Tech, and Mize etc.***
- Learn about Security of your Crypto. Such as cold wallets, encryptions and off device storage of keys and backup phases.
- Learn the basics of trading. Buy low and Sell high. Or even Sell high rebuy low by using moving averages to enable you to react on what is happening right now.
- Learn how to adapt to enable you to keep your profits and your losses low. Hodling never works in a bear market so be aware of what market trend we are on.

Cryptocurrency is still in its early phase, many more people will come into this world after you, ensure you learn now so you don't have to in the future. Please be aware of the speed of this industry, it is super fast and can change overnight.

*** More a rule than a learning point...

These tips are kind for the advanced user, before investing you need to understand the core basics of Private / Public Keys ...

I think that before even thinking of investing in Crypto everyone should understand what is Blockchain Technology, as it is will be super hard to understand the Business behind this new economy.
Here is the most updated guide on Blockchain Technology
https://101blockchains.com/ultimate-blockchain-technology-guide/

In any case, DO NOT invest any amount you are not willing to lose, crypto is the highest risky investment. And DYOR - Do Your Own Research Smiley
