well, i'm venting about 3-4kw out my basement with a 1300cfm attic heat exhaust fan Smiley works great...you could just use that for your exhaust side...course it is about 14'' big...but that should vent the heat and provide suction for the intake as well since if i have the basement windows closed it sucks air from upstairs thur the bottom of the door...and not just a light breeze either...it is amazing what ya can do with high cfm fans Wink well good luck on your project

Looks like Home Depot has something like that for about $84.

Thanks for the info  Cool

hope the next President will be a woman

Who cares about the gender or race of any President? I just wish this country would elect a person who puts the USA first like jobs, protect our border, health car and our fighting men and women who give everything when the rest of us give back nothing.

The USA could once again become a really great nation with the right leaders and the guts to make the smart decisions that don't just put money in there pockets while all the rest of Americans suffer for their stupid selfish policies. I am glad to be part of Bitcoin, maybe it will help to bring some of these politicians to there knees.  Cool

Received my batch 1 miners yesterday.
Realistic guesses please: how likely is it that these devices will actually ROI at some point and how long would it take to make at least some profit with them starting from today?

If ROI is your only goal at this point leave everything you mine in BTC. So if you mine let's say your first 1 Bitcoin and its worth $600 and you leave it alone and Bitcoin goes up to $800 per Bitcoin you have just increased your payback for the same amount of time by $200. But if you mine for a week and move it all out to USD then you have a return at that days Bitcoin rate. So if you think Bitcoin will rise as I do, leave it all in BTC until you see that your conversion to USD is the same as what you paid in dollars assuming you paid in dollars. Also you will have to factor in electricity.

Right now with Bitcoin dropping in price its hard to feel any of these units at the prices we are seeing will ROI.

Intake airflow should be lower than exhaust, remember heat rises, so vent out the top not the sides. So put your exhaust fans on top, and your airflow on the bottom where the cooler air is. Don't bother trying to blow air horizontally across the your shed, you would just be cycling hot air. Instead, circulate the air around your miners and out the top.  Place your miners on racks and blow air across the miners, but leave air flow room around all sides of the miner. Insulate your walls otherwise the heat from the outside will work against the action you are trying to create inside the shed.

Really good feedback. Don't think I can exhaust from the top or shed roof as that's the over hang that will have all the solar panels. Other than that I will take another look at my air flow and consider your suggestions.

Thanks!  Cool
25  Bitcoin / Mining / Do you see any problems with this shed design? on: July 27, 2014, 12:17:57 AM
I will be adding an over hang that will extend out from the garage roof, it will also hold 30 solar panels or about 7.5 Kw of solar power. Not enough for a lot of mining power but I am not looking to over build the system. One day when mining is done I will have solar for my home. Right now with the 30% tax credit its a good time to go for it.

Anyway the over hang or canopy will extend out and the width will cover the length of 3 parking spots so I was thinking of getting the 20 miners I have in the garage out to a shed I could build under the solar canopy.

Sorry for the crude drawings but I am just doing a little brain storming here before I call up the solar company and pull the trigger on this project.

Drawing 01

Airflow coming in from 2 fans north to south starting under the canopy. Shed is 7' wide by 20' long. Should make a nice covered from the sun wind tunnel.

Drawing 02

4 box fans will exhaust heat out the back end, see drawing 01 to see rack will be at the back of the shed near the exhaust fans.

Drawing 03

North side view of airflow incoming.

Let me know if you would make any changes to this if this was your project. At the amount of power I can give to my mining farm all I will ever have is about 20 - 25; S1 or S3's units.

Thanks

26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: btcgarden-AM-v1 only $0.85/GHs 1.045w/GHs. In stock for international selling! on: July 26, 2014, 04:05:12 PM
Placed an "in stock" order Monday and I still see no tracking number in my account as of today Friday.

Is this normal??? Huh Huh Huh

I think yes because it is not an automatic process so it's possible back office is busy.
You can ask btcgarden on this forum and he can answer you quickly.

Yes I did get a response from them today indicating I will have a tracking number tomorrow. I should add here I am not impressed with the way they process orders and this is not to say anything bad about there units, based on the response here I will be very happy with my purchase.

But with that said if when I buy a unit from BTC Garden and I have to calculate what I owe to them and then not have that payment even acknowledged by even a single email is just UN-productive. Also I have to go back and send them proof of payment after I see it run through the blockchain. I don't want to compare them with some other company but Bitmain Tech seems to have this down and makes checkout much smoother.

I hope to see BTC Garden become successful as we all want more choice in picking our mining units, but I am just saying they need to improve check out.

Thank you for your suggestion. Sorry for the experience we brought you. We will try hard and do better in the future.

Thank you for your response as I believe customer service is everything. Hope to see my tracking number today as this is what you promised in an email I received from your company yesterday.

Anyone received refunds? I was told that by the end of the week I would have it. I am starting to wonder whats up?

I just sent them a message asking about my refunds and got a zero reply.

Wow, Bitmain we are loyal and buy everything you got and then you promise to give us refunds and then just ignore us. That sucks!  Angry Angry Angry

I placed my first order with BTC Garden 2 days ago.

Is it normal to still see no updates on my account for payment and shipping 2 days later?  Huh Huh Huh

I hope to place another order this week.  Cool

Thanks

my app started crashing since v2.4 on a regular basis.  I have upgraded to v2.6a and still get the error on a regular basis.

I am running on XP

Mine crashes on the last 3 versions using Windows XP also. Runs great for me on another computer running Windows 7 Pro

Could be XP???

for those of you that have requested the refund option, have you received the btc back yet?

Nope, no BTC for me!
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 04:52:58 AM
I went for the refund on 6 S3 units, better to have money in hand. These may be my last batch of miners until we all start to see some real increases in hashing power delivered by the manufactures. What will we see next from Bitmain?

S1 and S2 upgrade kits? Soon???

S4 = 2 TH

S5 = 4 TH

S6 = 8 TH

One can only hope!  Cool
