Wulf,

You put a lot of time and energy into that last post........ so much energy and time that you did not do anything else meanwhile?  Well, that is what is happening internally with the devs.  There is much going on, and they are too busy to blog here.

There is lots of communication going on internally.  Most of the devs are in Central Asia, where the time is 12 hours different from yours, so dont expect immediate answers at noon your time.

Believe me when I say they are hard at work on it...... If you have been on this blog since the beginning, you will know that I was a very big critic of this project.  I do see lots of potential here, so I invested.

The devs made a big mistake when they limited the IPO to 750BTC.  Other IPOs have generated 2000BTC and more.  That low limit has made the coin price higher (good for you), but limited the funds for future development.  If the devs had let the IPO run for the  full 30 days, or even a week longer, they would be sitting on a stash of thousands of BTC that would allow them to fill an office with programmers.  That did not happen, as they listened to and followed the opinion of the community.

The current price of BTC is not helping as well.

That was one of my worries. I wish they tried to raise more, even if it means I get less stack. I just hope this project succeed to come to a stage where it is self sustainable.

This is how it would look like:

I vote this.

This is it! I like it as well. I'd like to play with it in Inkscape. Is there an svg or other vector file available?

See this link:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yycqltnzewcg0py/AACyXK3j3tSjerZ7J6fIzXyGa?lst

Notice it's just an image trace, so it wont be perfect as hi-res. also, I couln't find the specific font but I think it's modified artisa 2.0 (not sure).
Anyway if we choose to go with this this should be re done, and check for licensing (need to find out if the original designer took care of it)

Those logos are crap let's face it. A C with an earth in it, seriously ? You can't do less original than that.

I dumped my Node and XCR because i'm tired of u clowns. I'm going in a real coin X with a really competent core team whose alpha client is already a million times better.

Ragequit

Did this guy just ragequited because couple of community members likes their beveled globe logos with sheen reflections and shadows, or he just tried to get some attention to a coin he is invested in? I'm confused.
I can relate to the being mad of the beveled globe with sheen reflections and shadows part, but I think the efforts are cute Smiley (just a sarcastic joke, no offense. )

SyRenity already explained the current search after a logo as a way to ease and accelerate the the work of the designer that will be hired. this is very smart and professional.
Seriously, community efforts here are remarkable. people making a lot of efforts to bring themselves to the product. good sign. I hope this will continue in the future.

Okay, as I mentioned earlier I didn't really like any of the new logo designs. I've adapted the current logo to create the one below, if you notice the "C" has been edited slightly to look less chunky. I've kept the Crypti font as I really like it and I've tried to keep the same color scheme as the current one. So just to show you guys what I mean, here it is :

#Take note I didn't have access to the actual font used in the current logo, I had to re-create it in Illustrator so that's why the fonts may look a bit jagged and rough. Also I just re-did this in about 10 minutes so the quality isn't all that good, when i have more time I'll redo it proper.

I like this one the best out of all the ones I've seen.

I do as well. Maybe keep 45 degree to -45 degree standard C instead of 90 degree to -90 degree with tangent lines to right. Definitely prefer the full round fillets on the ends of all characters and logo, and the modern font.

This is how it would look like:

I got some directions for the new logo/brand. pretty ones, but I would love to see the brief so I can judge it/make modifications.
Did you start the competition on 99 already? should I just post it here?

I'd love to hear your ideas or see them. Essentially we are looking for either a more sleek and professional version of the lunate sigma expanded or something that represent our overall goal of being a startup solution in a box and commerce payment platform.

After packaging everything nicely I've made a final effort to search for similar logos, realizing this is pretty close to well known logo.
Actually, It seems I see this logo a lot during my evenings. my tricky unconscious mind :/
Maybe I've started it as unconscious inspiration, not diverting it enough? IDK..
Even showed it today to my family, possibly with the original one in the background without anyone noticing.
I did a small research on C logos for inspiration when approached this, but not on google :/ silly me.
I'm still gonna post it here, because I was really proud of it until few minutes ago, But I'm not sure we would like to use it as is even if it's possible.
Adding the process and inspiration board, maybe someone can fork/suggest a previous step..

Can we re-visit this comment Hobogo? What was the logo that it is similar to? I couldn't find it. I originally didn't comment on your logo because I got caught up with the logo contest and testnet, but I don't recognize the logo. Obviously we can't use it if it's similar to something else, but I can't seem to figure out what that something else is. Does anyone recognize it?

BTW, thank you for your work on the logo you designed. I actually think it's pretty nice and like it better than some of the finalists Terminator esque submissions we got on 99designs. I'm really trying to keep it simple and not futuristic or over-stylized and some of the submissions we got were just crazy.

Anyways, does anyone know what logo it looks like? I can't place it...

Try to google for "cc logo" images, and scroll down a bit. you will recognize it. actually kinda funny. (I got it on the 7th row)
Was there a reason not to share the contest link from the start as planned?

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti | XCR | Ͼ | 3 PoS algorithms | Ed25519 | 2nd Gen Source on: September 28, 2014, 12:54:28 PM
I don't like the logos from 99desings, neither the last one.  Cry

I wasn't suggesting that the logo I posted above should be used at all, I was just trying to show the different fonts that could be used for it. Though I do think that it looks a ton better than the 99designs logo's.

The bottom line here is that the team excluding GreXX need to catch a wake-up in design. You guys got it lucky with your previous designer as he knew more or less what he was doing, Crypti the way it currently looks is a testament to that. GreXX is your creative designer and he's in charge of design and I know that no creative designer, given the appropriate amount of money, would post something as big as logo design on a "contest site".

As you all can see how terribly the community has reacted towards these designs, hopefully now you learn that you simply can't skimp on design. You guys have over 750 BTC, why don't you actually use it? Give GreXX the opportunity to hire a proper design team and get Crypti's branding done properly.

What I'm posting below is for the community to see. I've come up with an outlay for Crypti's whole design process, based on a $15 000 budget and a 2-month time frame. $15 000 is about 35 BTC at the current exchange rate, which is really not that much considering how big of an impact Crypti's branding will make.

STEP 1 : Establish Branding Guidelines

This whole step is about laying the framework for other designers. The way to do it is to create branding guidelines that other designers can follow. This helps establish a brand image and design style which other designers can continue. For this you would need to hire a branding specialist to design Crypti's brand image and design guidelines and create a design kit, which is basically a bundle of all branding design assets. The cost for this is around ~$3000 - $4000
The branding guidelines would be the logo, color palette used for design and defining the design style used for Crypti. It would be in the form of a write up such as these (Very Important Look at Links Below) :

http://www.google.com/design/spec/material-design/introduction.html#

https://www.behance.net/gallery/9028077/google-visual-assets-guidelines-part-1

https://www.behance.net/gallery/Google-Visual-Assets-Guidelines-Part-2/9084309

This is by far the most important process, as it will be the foundation for the rest of Crypti's design. With these guidelines any designer can create designs that match the rest of Crypti's design aesthetic.

STEP 2 : Main Website Development

Now that you have your branding guidelines established and design foundation set, you can move onto your website. For this you hire a specialist Web development and design team. You provide them with your brand/design guidelines and they design and code a site that matches Crypti's branding guidelines, it's a pretty straightforward process. The cost for this is around ~$4000

STEP 3 : Wallet UI Redesign

Now that the website is completed, the next step is the new Wallet UI. For this you'll need to hire a UI/UX designer and simply provide him/her with the design guidelines from Step 1. The designer will put together some mockups for you and once you approve a final version, will finish and export the design. The cost for this is around ~$5000

All of the designers I've provided will fit into the allocated budget for each step, I would know as I've asked for quotes on design work in the past (where I needed to work with other designers). Now I want, you, the community to take a look at the designers' work here and compare it to the types of design that we saw on 99designs. You'll notice a HUGE difference in quality.

@Devs, I have provided multiple possible designers to choose for each stage, as well as a plan itself to help you guys get through the whole process. The ball is now in your half of the court, the community wants to see better designs.

@Community, if any of you want to see Crypti's logo and branding to be on par with the work done by the designers above, then post "We want better designs!"

We want better designs! Smiley
Making a contest in 99 is not a bad idea by itself for certain purposes (getting new ideas, or make/remake a well defined project) , but there are certain rules in order to get with a good result and "fish" the participation of the professional designers over there (which are few and mostly doing it as an hobby until coming to the obvious agenda against the platform).

Your suggested designers looks professional. @Wulfcastle
I like the first font you used there, as it got a lot of character. can you name it please?
Intuitively I think it won't suit Crypti, but I can't tell since I don't have the tools to judge it upon. Judging results should be based on pre-defined goals, just like in everything else.
In order to even have an educated discussion we need those pre defined goals and values we want this logo to commute. otherwise it's just a matter of personal taste, which may differ.
When having those, we can brake it down and judge the result by the nature of it, and even ask those who are unfamiliar with the goals, to see if we manged to achieve what we wanted.

The real work should be on defining those goals, leaving this to the designer is possible only if he have the resources/time to understand what Crypti is and build his own vision (which better be moderated and approved)

This should ease the work of every designer out there, both pro and beginners. will be even more noticeable for the website/wallet UI/complete brand.

Logo Update

While you are waiting patiently, help us narrow down our Logo contest entries to a winner! We have moved on to the finalists round and created a poll out of some of our favorite options and we would like your opinion on the current choices.

Please view the poll and entires here: https://99designs.com/logo-design/vote-m1000k

We would love to hear your feedback. Keep in mind we will be making the final choice, but we would love to hear your thoughts!

GreXX, to be honest, none of them really look that great. The fonts used in a lot of them are either too bland or simply unprofessional. #52, looks the most professional, but it's very bland and doesn't really relate to Crypti all that much. #47 by afterclouds, stands out more but the font used in it in't that grand.

Well we are in the tailoring phase to help them improve the designs so we can pick a finalist. These are the kinds of things we can tweak now that we have ideas of the look.

I cant vote becasue there is not a "NONE OF THE ABOVE" choice.  Can you add one?

I simply don't get it.
from the blog post: "We will add the link here and post it in the BTT Thread as soon as we open the contest. "
I've inquired myself for this link couple of times, then when finally got a response it ignored the ongoing contest.
Please note that I do not care about the contest prize, or the glory of contributing my skills. I've invested my own free time. I didn't expect much, but one can clearly see I put some efforts. So a nice "completely off course, please fuck off" PM could be nice.

Those choices you got there are typical 99 designs style, not in the good way.
stylized≠professional. sorry those are amateurish ready made concepts. If you are the ones that need to give those guys ideas how to make them better, I hope your design skills are good.

This might remove some of the shape similarities (shape needs work, and only temporal colors (?))
Should make a new forum board for discussing this, just wanted to show some hope Smiley

How about the Lunate Sigma "Ͼ" with the earth as the dot?  The earth could appear as a blue marble wih clouds, and rotate if done as an animated GIF.

This kind of animation is more suitable for processing, then a result animation, and this theme should be apparent on different stuff as well if we take this path (if using it as the sole processing animation)
Do you mean those details should be on the logo when not animated? if not I guess this is more of an animation idea then a logo concept. If The execution is flawless I can imagine this as very impressive, but anything less then flawless will be ultra tacky Smiley but I suspect it might be too hard to make this good enough at this point
Added a globe icon to my insp board just in case, thou usually it's not my style

We might want to get a board/doc for organizing suggestions for everyone to add or watch

As far as my opinion goes, we are pursuing all avenues to work on our design. We tried some designers we knew and a few we found online but didn't like the results, so we started the 99 designs contest. Right now it is running and we will see what kind of submissions we get and go from there.

You will not be able to store XCR in cold storage, like BTC.
What do you mean?
BTC address is f(private key), Crypti address is f(private key). What is difference?
You can generate new address by new private key (passphrase) in an offline mode (and store the passphrase on a paper for example) and send coins to this address in online. It's same way as cold storage.

Right now I have to have a connection to get the wallet interface. but I wish to get access to that interface even when I'm not online to see my address.
Other parts of the interface should notify me if I don't have an active connection anyway..
Why do you need to get access in offline mode? Do you want to see a history, balance, forged list and so or you want only generate public address by passphrase?

Are you thinking of making an independent and anonymous node?    If you are that is not what Crypti is about.  There is no anonymity with Crypti.  We are going to have VERIFIED MERCHANTS, not dark accounts.  Each user of Crypti will know exactly where their XCR is going.

There will be two other features introduced later that will further make using XCR as safe for the user as Credit Cards are now.

Could you elaborate?

Also I read in the blog that you will be using 99designs for a new logo etc.
Please set up a BCT contest too, there are some very good designers here. You could chose between the two but I don't see how it will hurt using two platforms.
If all it will involve the community more and maybe you'll find a designer with a heart for crypto.  Wink

I highly recommend against it. The good designers on BCT are few and far between, in addition it just looks very unprofessional. If you look at most threads, there re sometimes close to 30 entries, but only one or two look even half decent, the rest are made by "non-designers" looking to cash in on a bounty, most look like they've been designed in MS Paint.

Agree...

Agree, If we do want to catch those few decent design and a designer with a heart for crypto just invite the community to the 99 contest to have a fair fight.
thou one can choose not to choose a winning design on 99, people are investing their time and efforts, so should treat them with maximum respect and not split the contest between multiple platforms simultaneously.

I fail to see how it hurts to include the community in this? We are on a cryptoforum and this is a cryptocurrency.
"Oh no let's not get more exposure! It's so bad!" If you haven't noticed there is like 10 people trading this.

So the reason behind hosting a logo design competition is to gain exposure, and in turn boost volume? Honestly...

Secondly notice you say that we are on a "cryptoforum", not a design community. Tell me which community you think will provide better designs, a crypto-currency forum or a design community tailor made for freelance design contests?

P.S. If you didn't notice there was a 54 BTC Volume spike yesterday, on average the daily volume is between 6-15 BTC and the price has been held constant between 1400 & 1700 Satoshis, the past few weeks. I don't see any problem there considering that most of Crypti's features haven't even been implemented yet.

To boost volume? Are you fucking serious? Maybe to gain widespread adoption and have a more evenly distribution as a result of more people getting involved?
Yup we're on a cryptoforum! And lo and behold many people here have designer/programming/whatever different backgrounds!
And also, you don't know which one will turn out the best now do you? On the one hand you have a professional design community and on the other you might have designers with a interest for crypto.
You could even make a BCT post redirecting good designers to 99design.
But nah, let's assume everyone who wants to help in on the project are "greedy" who only care about price and volume! And let us shut out the same community that will use it because they are dumber than us!

My last post in this you fucking dipshit. People like you are the aids of all cryptocommunities. 15 year old kids who think they know best about everything in the world.
Nah, I'll let you get back to being 10 guys participating in this coins because you are "too good" to get involved with anyone else and watch you shoot down every possible suggestion someone who isn't on the "foundation" makes. Don't bother replying I'm done

I can agree on notifying the community about the contest, But must warn that suggesting a logo in a contest ≠ getting involved necessarily. Also, I would suggest the board to ask for multiple professional opinions when choosing the logo based on the pre-defined values to convey (put some efforts in the brief), but keep the decision process to yourself.

rejected ideas/opinions might turn nice people into mad trolls sometimes Smiley That's why making the contest on 99 is a good idea, you have clear set of rules so no one gets too disappointed.

Thou feeling important participating in those kind of conversations. I feel the team is very professional with taking the right paths.
