21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your stupidity is opportunity for scammers! on: April 22, 2019, 10:34:26 AM
Blind greed and stupidity is why ICO's are going the way of the dodo. No one believes the hype anymore following the 2017 boom/bust cycle with ICOs where most have failed or are slowly failing.

A handful of ICOs are still going ok, but you'll notice that most of the community driven/nameless 'teams' just don't exist anymore.

I'm all for institutional investment and professionalism through STOs for tokens/altcoins. For actual Bitcoin, decentralization and transparency can remain at the forefront, and anyone who wants something different should take their greed to the gambling forum Wink
22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Must read books on cryptocurrency. on: April 22, 2019, 01:26:42 AM
If you're after a free read about privacy coin Monero, you can get it as PDF for absolutely nothing (or a donation) Smiley

https://masteringmonero.com/

Just starting to read through and so far so good. Maybe I can update later on whether it is a 'must read', or just a 'pretty good to read'.

Knowledge for nothing folks.

Hey what do I gotta do to get a hat avatar. All these brothers stuntin hats on this long thread.

Is it a merit level thing I dunno, I can't even seem to put up any avatar. I want to feel included. I search the forum and got nothin.

Be involved long enough like some other WO-members and you will have a HAT in no time Wink

Bitcoin will be $100k USD before I get a hat.

Remind me 1 year.

Also, one day not on this thread and like 20 pages added since my last comment. So much love on this thread.

25  Other / Meta / Re: Enough with the negativity give the forum some credit it deserves on: April 17, 2019, 12:37:41 PM
Looks like as soon as the ICO craze died off , and there were less profitable bounty programs (or not profitable at all) then people stopped complaining about ranking up so much.

I've never done a bounty program but from trawling through old threads there were some people claiming to make hundreds in the space of a few weeks from spam posting copy-paste sentences.

Now that ICOs are and their corresponding bounty programs less common, I suspect we'll slowly see a more 'normal' forum, where people just post because they want to post, and negativity will follow all those failed ICO projects out the door.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could BTC ever be manipulated like Wall Street is? on: March 30, 2019, 06:10:19 AM
I thought Bitcoin being manipulated is what everyone was complaining about when they talk about those damn 'whales!'.
27  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 30, 2019, 06:02:52 AM
If you're on a centralised exchange (especially if it required KYC) they may have some sort of insurance policy. I remember that was a push for a while from a lot of larger exchanges to deal with the security concern aspect of trading large sums of coins.

It also depends on what you mean by hacked. If someone got your password and you didn't have 2FA then you're probably out of luck even if the exchange would normally be willing to reimburse. I'm really sorry to hear a story like this no one wants to lose any amount of money for any reason.

In terms of tips for next time, I only trade on the one personal computer that doesn't leave my home - I never use someone elses wifi, trade on someone elses computer, go to any weird sites that might infect my computer etc. So far no issues but I think little things like that can make a big difference in reducing your risk.
28  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: NEO Super - Likely scam on: October 15, 2018, 10:53:45 AM

4. Claims that it will fork the NEO blockchain to create an ETH token

That's pretty much the clincher.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: █【ANN】【DAPP】█ 🌟🌟🌟 BLOCKLANCER 🌟🌟🌟 ██ JOIN GIG ECONOMY BOOM on: September 26, 2018, 12:48:45 PM
So if I get a bunch of lancer tokens, what do I do with them exactly given the gigs are in eth or btc? The website says you can 'stake' your tokens, but not sure exactly how you do that?
30  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: September 22, 2018, 07:49:39 AM
Cool info! Interesting how 150-200 have all pretty much provided two merit to newbies, which shows there isn't that many people sharing the love for newbies out there (or there are alot of trash newbie accounts and no one wants to give them merit!)

I generally lurk more than post, but these 'rule changes' that, from what I can tell, are meant to prevent spamming, seem to be getting everyone super annoyed. Like your level/rank makes any difference to posting or reading this forum?!

I'm new here. Why does this thread have 21,000 pages? All I see is random charts and pictures of cute animals.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the most attractive blockchain technologies except bitcoin? on: August 27, 2018, 09:30:24 AM
From what I can see Horizen (formerly Zencash) is a great project. It takes the privacy focus seriously, but is going in a direction to avoid the negative/criminal connotations associated with many 'privacy' orientated projects like Monero. Horizen is focused on being a decentralised platform for private messaging, publishing, Dapps and a whole bunch of other features.

So it is a 'currency', but also an overall platform. It is obviously not as popular as ethereum, but I like where they are heading.
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If I am not good at constructive post then I can't get merit. on: August 26, 2018, 04:20:54 AM
I'm only just learning about what merit is for, and I really don't see what the big issue is.

I joined up to learn more about cryptocurrency and I don't need merit to do that! Promoting some random coin through merit signatures (I think that's how it works) shouldn't really be that much of a priority Smiley

Also your language/grammar is a little bit off - that might make people skim past your contributions Smiley
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO][IC] INGOT COIN - BRIDGING MARKETS – AN ALL INCLUSIVE ECOSYSTEM on: July 21, 2018, 04:27:17 AM
Any ideas how to improve the token liquidity? It is the most common case token does not have buy support Once it appears on exchanges

It looks like they have a partnership with trade.io, which is launching its exchange over the next month. My guess is that trade.io will list Ingot coin as part of the partnership.

So there should be some liquidity through that exchange, but if there is a strong incentive to hold than you're right there may be challenges in liquidity as everyone will be holding - but that isn't necessarily a bad outcome.
