21  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX (POSSIBLE SCAM) why did you close my account? on: July 07, 2014, 10:58:22 PM
They tweeted recently: We have implemented a fix to counter D-DoS attacks from a botnet in China. The attack spiked at 130 MBPS around 11:30 AM today.
22  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX (POSSIBLE SCAM) why did you close my account? on: July 07, 2014, 10:56:19 PM
It looks like there is a certificate for the site, though it is issued by Comodo in the UK.
23  Economy / Service Discussion / Current names/addresses for Mt. Gox parties on: July 07, 2014, 07:06:48 PM
Does anyone have a link for the list that was circulating of Mt. Gox employees and their contact information?

Specifically, I would like to know a current address for service on the following individuals as well as the names of the attorneys representing them:

Mark Karpeles
Gonzague Gay-Bouchery
Jeb McCaleb
Marion (a woman who worked on the support desk and claimed to be from management).

thanks,
Peter

25  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Status of CampBX? Legal recourse? on: June 13, 2014, 03:21:53 AM
I would suggest first re-contacting them, possibly calling their number. In the past they have been slow, but honest.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the bitcoin Dinosaurs? on: June 11, 2014, 05:22:00 PM
Would a more apt comparison for dinosaurs be dead businesses? Mt. Gox would seem to be on the extinction list.
27  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Coins has just started to move on: June 11, 2014, 05:19:59 PM
You misunderstood completely. It means that they are just securing the coins, not avoiding trustee control.

Given the unfortunate silence from the trustee, we don't really know, though this is reasonable speculation.

The trustee doesn't seem to understand that anything you do on the blockchain is public, and that these bitcoin in particular, are watched very closely.

Trustees attorney reported that NetAgent has been hired.
29  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Mt Gox Info from the Itty-bitty Bitcoin Insight Committee (IBBIC) on: June 11, 2014, 04:17:20 PM
Looks interesting PG, keep up the good work.

NetAgent was recently hired by the trustee to investigate the possible hacks and bitcoin in Mt. Gox. It is possible they made a sensible recommendation, namely, move the BTC to a secure address where you know you control the private keys. Frankly, that should have been done as soon as the trustee took control.
31  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Any threads that discuss the latest mtgox docs? on: June 10, 2014, 05:07:47 PM
The lack of interest by Japanese attorneys is likely due to the fact that they feel that it is now in bankruptcy proceedings, with the trustee being reportedly one of the most trusted attorneys in Japan for such work. So what else is there to do?

The bankruptcy is going to take a likely 18 months to produce any recovery, so patience will likely be needed here.
32  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Arizona Interest on: May 27, 2014, 11:55:43 PM
This is the second lecture in the series on the details of bitcoin and how it works. This lecture will cover the blockchain and how digital signatures are used to transfer bitcoin. The presenter will be Peter N. Steinmetz.

Event will be at Ultimate Consignment, 1919 West Main Street, Mesa, AZ. 6 PM - 8 PM on Wednesday June 4th.

Refreshments will be provided. This series will alternate with lectures on other topics.
33  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New Mt. Gox class action in U.S. on: May 22, 2014, 04:08:12 AM
I wonder if we can pierce the corporate veil and go after Karpeles directly for negligence and spending our money on doughnut shops and domain names? I doubt Japan has any sort of criminal negligence liabilities in their civil laws.

Working on this presently. It is likely possible.
34  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New Mt. Gox class action in U.S. on: May 22, 2014, 04:07:34 AM
Is this the lawsuit "settled" via the Sunlot deal? Are the terms of that available as court records?

Yes the settlement and all documents are available through the Pacer system.

That particular class action was settled, but I don't believe the class was certified. This suggests another class action lawsuit could be started if needed, particularly in another district. They could eventually be consolidated, but that would be a later action.
35  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitmessage - Secure messaging system on: May 21, 2014, 03:42:02 AM
Has this become any easier to install? I looked into it perhaps 4 months ago and it was a real pain under MacOS X.

Edit - seems much easier now with an application to install.

Found the documents on Pacer for case 1:14-cv-01437. Posted on scribd with all exhibits for those who may be interested: http://www.scribd.com/doc/225373622/Greene-vs-MtGox-Preliminary-Injunction-8-April-2014
37  Bitcoin / Legal / New Mt. Gox class action in U.S. on: May 21, 2014, 02:26:56 AM
Given the lack of information coming out of the trustee for Mt. Gox in Japan, I'm beginning to think another class-action lawsuit in the U.S. may be the best way to go. The settlement with Sunlot is a pile of nonsense in my opinion -- how can one reasonably agree to a settlement before one even knows what was going on at Mt. Gox?

My understanding is that the class in Greene vs. Mt. Gox was never certified, so that it should be possible to start another class action, does that seem correct?

I am also searching for the Motion for Preliminary Injunction of April 8, 2014. According to exhibit 2 of the preliminary settlement, this 34 page document sets forth the results of the Plaintiffs discovery efforts. It seems like this could be an interesting read. Any pointers?
38  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Grave implications for bitcoin? kryptokit chrome extension removed by Google on: May 20, 2014, 03:47:50 PM
Checkout instructions at http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/260c87/emergency_announcement_for_kryptokit_users/

The final step recommended may still work to recover your coins.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did ebay and paypal screw you over for using BTC {Class Action} on: May 20, 2014, 12:52:28 AM
Yes, what is the cause of action here? To pursue a class action you would need to have a claim as an individual first, then others in the same position can join the class.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Brock Pierce have consensus of the Bitcoin Community to represent it? on: May 20, 2014, 12:48:22 AM
Regardless of the truth or falsity of the allegations about his past, the present proposal put forward by his group is a joke for the Mt. Gox depositors.

Why on earth should we agree to them taking over and spending a substantial sum on investigation when this should be performed by the court prior to any decisions being made?
