OP UPDated!

Due to the Chinese whisper campaign, we're likely to see some interest.  I've put a link to the Chinese version of the Darkpaper at the top of the OP for more visibility.

New Visitors please take a look at the following for more information about BitcoinDark!

如果你是中国人你可以读中文的"Darkpaper" 这里:  http://209.126.70.170/DarkPaper-Chinese.pdf

I think BTCD could really use a 2 minute video like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc2en3nHxA4 to introduce the non technical masses to the goodness that is happening here.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zimstake (ZS) - PURE POS - No IPO / PreMine - SHA-256 on: August 22, 2014, 11:55:44 AM
I think the time of being able to spread FUD has long past. I hope you will not see this short retrospective as such. I have nothing to gain from harming ZS but I am still pissed off and so should you.

The 'out' on this one for CG is simply that this was supposed to be a fun coin or GTFO. I never invest money I cannot afford to loose but it is still real money and no one wants to just lose money.

I have been wanting to post for a while now but since I dumped all(60k) except 2k of my ZS at 3k SAT I have not really cared any more.

A lot of people are going to lose a lot of money on this coin and it saddens me deeply that so much trust was put into CG and he did not come through for the community.

I firmly believe that a developer of a coin has an enormous influence in it's success especially in the initial months of it's existence. Extended dev absences, slipped promised deliverables, no clear time line or plan... all these factors will kill a coin as it did in this case.

The community here has been fantastic. Very mature, mostly, and some even contributed more than just lurking and investing. SrsCrypto put a lot of effort into ZS and produced tangible results unlike the multipool that another member was developing since the start of the coin and never actually managed to get running(two weeks... two weeks, two weeks...). SrsCrypto produced more than just excuses.
Not everyone is a developer though, some people prefer to just be investors and the accusations that some have made that investors should somehow contribute code to the coin is absurd. Many people buy and use BTC and none of them contribute to the code base WTF should that be expected of investors in ZS!

In the past few months I have learnt some expensive lessons. I lost money on V, SHA, AC and ZS. My one good decision was when I sold all of my ZS and bought BTCD at 16k SAT. If you want to see how a developer should interact with it's community then have a look at BTCD.

I was proud to be in the top 20 wallets in ZS for a very long time. As many I had great hopes for this coin.

How long before pos kicks in @ my wallet?

POW/POS
4 Days of Mining - 96 HOUR POW

11.3 Million Coins
9% Stake

2 questions about the POS component...

1. Does POS only kick in after POW (block 2881)?
2. How long for coins to mature in wallet to generate stake?

1. Looks like it.. https://github.com/Boom-Coin/boomcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L991
2. Looks like 1hr min age to stake https://github.com/Boom-Coin/boomcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L42
3. Max coin age set to unlimited https://github.com/Boom-Coin/boomcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L43

Dev you should throw this on OP

i think it's very sad when the price of your coin plummets (YOU DID A GIVEAWAY OF THE COIN*)
all you can think to do is post stupid little animation on the forum page... what does this say to serious investors?

remember you need 10BTC to buy up from the sewer on mintpal.
It's always the way with free coins and giveaway coins. You have done nothing more than turn Zs into a free coin.

Stake is OK, it's free - but it's implemented to be controlled, so when someone comes along begging for votes and giving away stakable coins for NOTHING - Some folks need to get a grip of themselves. CG shoulda put a stop to all this weeks ago when I mentioned it.
All those coins you obtained to give away? how much BTC worth?

I still have my 9000Zs and I would like to buy stuff with it.

*blame* GTFO

1000 BANANNA GROUCHY GUY DEFENSE WALL!!

not grouchy at all. I've not lost out an anything, just stating for the record, I advised it as a bad idea to give away free coins.

Developing a coin or maintaining it is not as simple and easy as you all make it look..most ideas you guys bring up are ideas you should have come up with in januari....and im not trying to disrespect or insult anyone...

But do you guys seriously think me and CG havent thought of any of the ideas u mention?

Anyway..we have continously asked and pushed people to be active as a community, and do their part...
Only a few of the early holders have seriously put effort in doing something for the coin..and we..or i..am very very thankfull for that.

Its really hard maintaining a coin with 2 people, when only one of them is a programmer.

go on..discuss..ill shutup

This will again bring the question of where CG is, inactive for for days, do you have any news from him, i now he has personal life but again he would said if he had some issues before going and yes i know its not easy to maintain a coin but still if someone can't do it any longer its at least fair to ask for help if others would continue his procejt or at least help in any way
Yeah..i never said asking help was a problem at all. Im just giving u my point of view. And trying to explain its not as simple as many people think/state here.

Your assumption that everyone here is an idiot except yourself is rather derogatory.

No disrespect intended to the multipool author but it was hardly a working multipool. It ran in beta for 48 hours of which it was down for 24. I had 2 rigs on the pool for that period out of the 6 rigs total.

If all you are going to do is rudely shoot down any attempt to start positive discussion then this is going to go nowhere very very fucking fast. I and many others have been here since day 1 and have done what we could to motivate and help the best we could.

You say that you and CG discussed all these ideas. The more time goes by the more I realize that this entire community is being treated like mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed shit.

It is about time you start actually talking to the community and not throw your toys out of the cot every time you make a post.

Icecube is still working on a multipool for ZS if im not wrong..

I know someone that can actually make one, do you want me to ask him if he would be interested?

I think that would be a good start indeed!
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zimstake (ZS) - NOW PURE POS - No IPO / PreMine - SHA-256 New Wallet on: July 11, 2014, 06:40:05 PM

Icecube has been working on the multipool since PoS started.

He should continue working on the pool but its is about time we actually get a multipool up. If he gets it going first then great but it's about time we look for someone else that could help as well.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zimstake (ZS) - NOW PURE POS - No IPO / PreMine - SHA-256 New Wallet on: July 11, 2014, 06:37:13 PM

It sure can be done, for start community is big, there are many holders, there is interest, if anyone is up to we might start with delisting coin from mintpal as it is one of the price drop reasons and maybe getting a multipool

I think we should set up a donation address as bounty for the first properly working multipool that pays out ZS.

I would suggest bluewhackadoo as holder of the donations.

I will put 2K ZS in as donation.

A few days ago being in the top 20 meant you had almost 50K ZS
Today you need almost 60K ZS to be in the top 20.

Top wallets are still buying.

Staking 50K ZS @ 12% for a year

Something CG asked on irc on Monday was what people thought of increasing the stake % to 24% rather than 12%.
Since not everyone is not on irc it might be a good idea to get some views on this.

1) no one should be surprised by this, there was no communication in the last 2 weeks leading up to the MP listing, and many posters posting snotty remarks at anyone trying to ask what this coin is all about. I've been warning against this dump for weeks. as a thank you i was insulted for this. this is very indicative of a brainless community who are fighting battles they don't understand.

2) that being said, we are on a downtrend right now, it will correct itself. I will not be panic selling, as it is obvious to anyone with a calculator that a coin with 3.5 million coins is highly under valued at the moment.

let me break down some simple math for you:

4500 satoshi price for 3.5 million coins would be equivalent to

4.5 satoshi for 3.5 billion coins

0.045 satoshi for 350 billion coins.

if you compare this ratio to other coins which have total coin volumes in the hundreds of billions, then we're trading at %5 of 1 satoshi. this is cheap. very cheap. keep that in mind.

I share your frustration but do you really need to insult the community?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zimstake (ZS) - NOW PURE POS - No IPO / PreMine - SHA-256 New Wallet on: July 06, 2014, 06:16:22 PM
I've only had it happen when it doesn't shut down correctly, same with others I've talked to. Either way, the fix will work

Yeah man same here. Only when it don't shut down properly

I get it every time I start it, and I shut down properly.
If there are no bugs, it should just work, even though you DO not shut down properly, since it uses a database.

There is always at least one more bug to be found...
If you are aware of a bug causing a race condition then I am sure CryptoGir would appreciate to hear about it. the more detail you have the easier he can trace and fix it.

CoinPayments.net Community Call to Arms - Voting ends 07/16/14 @ 11:59:59 PM UTC

Want to spend a few of your hard-earned ZS on a good cause and get a chance at a 1,000 Zimstake bounty?

Zimstake is on the CoinPayments.net public vote list, votes only cost .001 BTC or roughly 70 cents and all proceeds go to charity.

1,000 Zimstake bonus to the first person who posts a screenshot of the 30th vote cast.  You don't have to make the 30th vote, just post the screenshot of it first.  Screenshot must be posted in the BCT ANN thread.

THIS IS AN EASILY ACHIEVABLE AND IMPORTANT SHORT TERM GOAL!

Votes cast here https://www.coinpayments.net/vote

Up to date voting count can be viewed here https://www.coinpayments.net/vote-results

If anyone needs BTC to vote I am exchanging .0011 BTC for 5 ZS to the first 40 Zimstakers who contact me via PM.  40/40 remain to be claimed.

Thanks for reading.

-blue

Is this against the voting rules?

No it is not. The rules are:

Code:
1. Starting a vote then having someone else do the donation.
2. Placing a vote then getting a reimbursement or reward of any value (for example: crypto or fiat currency, access to a site that normally requires payment, coupons or discounts, etc.)
3. Using Tor or similar = automatic disqualify (during our last vote we only had 3 valid votes from Tor users)
4. IPs listed in HTTP:BL or other spambot/botnet blacklist = automatic disqualify

The bluewhackadoo exchange offers an exchange of your 5 ZS for 0.0011 BTC. You could also go to any of the other exchanges that support ZS and sell some to get the btc needed.

Particularly point 2. You are not rewarded for voting but rather exchange your ZS for the BTC needed to make your own vote. You can keep the BTC or buy a lolipop or put it to good use and cast a vote for ZimStake.
