21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard fork to disable inscription. on: May 08, 2024, 06:23:25 AM
Could we make a hard fork to disable new inscription to reduce the network pressure.
<cut>

Anyone is free to create a fork of Bitcoin to disable/enable anything they want in the software. But do you think miners/mining pools will support such a chain? (Or at least most of them?) What would be the incentive for them to do so?
22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will happen to BTC if Government gets involved? on: May 06, 2024, 06:52:50 AM
With the way things are going and most governments being against bitcoin and crypto because criminals are using it,

Your assumptions are wrong. Most governments are not against Bitcoin since it is legal in most countries of the world. They do want to regulate it, though.

how would it be if Government finds a way to regulate it and all or most countries adopts it as legal tender?.

Those are two separate things. I doubt that Bitcoin will ever become legal tender in all (or most) countries in the world, but it doesn't have to be legal tender to be accepted as a means of payment or an investment asset.
As for regulation, that is already happening in one form or another.
23  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 05, 2024, 02:30:46 PM
When we're young, we all have these big dreams that someday we'll get to make a living off doing what we love.  But, that ain't easy.  It sure ain't all sunshine and rainbows - most folks end up settling into a steady office job just to keep the lights on, even if it doesn't exactly light our souls on fire and  and for most people those dreams of starting their own little hobby business or whatever stays just that... dreams.

But when some of us get older, that itch is still there, you know? We get tired of the whole office politics grind and decide hey, maybe it's time to finally take a real crack at that crazy dream we had when we were 20-something.  For me that dream was getting into woodworking.

Now I chose a totally different career path in the IT world early on, but Id always been lowkey interested in making stuff with my own two hands.  Call it my genes or something - my grandpa was actually a carpenter, but he died when I was just a baby so I never met him.  I just heard stories about him and saw some old pictures.  Anyway, now that I'm approaching middle age and money ain't really an issue anymore I've been slowly tryin to follow in his footsteps, if you will. Right now, it's just a hobby. But I wouldn't be surprised if someday I quit my job to pursue it full-time.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 05, 2024, 01:40:55 PM
How much of what you make needs to go just to keeping the basics covered? I mean rent, utilities, groceries.  Gambling's for fun, not paying the bills.  First step's figuring out what you absolutely need to live.

Then take whatever's left over and decide if you wanna risk some of that for a shot at winning a jackpot, etc.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any Live Charts to track Bitcoin Transaction fees ? on: May 05, 2024, 01:27:50 PM
Today transaction fees are insane.

In fact, today's transaction fees are decent. I don't see anything insane on mempool right now. Of course, they could be lower, but ~25 sats/byte is not so bad.

Is there any way where I can keep an eye on it LIVE updating chart or something so I can sell my BTC without losing all of my money ?

You can check on mempool.space: https://mempool.space/

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin the Dumbest Thing Ever Invented on: May 04, 2024, 05:24:38 AM
Even smart people can have dumb ideas. Satoshi Nakamoto proposed a dumb idea. People feel for it because they saw it as a get-rich-quick scheme. Sure, you hava a distributed database. But empty units that are stored in it are not coins, money, currency or an asset. Proposing something like that was the dumbest thing ever.

Well... as long as it works, right?

What intrigues me, though, is if you think Bitcoin is dumb, why are you still here?  You've been doing this for quite some time now – how long has it been? So by your argument, you are at least as dumb as some of us here. Maybe even more, because some of us have actually made some profit investing in Bitcoin over the years. Have you?  Wink
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could have some innovations nowaday ? BRAINSTORMING COMMENTS on: May 03, 2024, 12:24:25 PM
OP, what do you mean by "make it more generic"?

Bitcoin is not intended to be a one-size-fits-all digital currency like some generic product.  It focuses more on ensuring security and decentralization instead of making things overly convenient.  Of course, there are ways to streamline the user experience with Bitcoin to an extent, possibly through some trade-offs.  For those who prioritize ease of use above all else, there are plenty of existing digital payment options that aim to be as simple as sending an email
28  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Too much disasterous threats in relationship and partnerships. on: May 03, 2024, 12:15:00 PM
My question is why not either the man or the woman just peacefully walk out from the relationship if they don't feel welcomed and comfortable anymore instead playing with ones emotions or the intentions to put ones life to an end because of selfish interests and anger of jealousy?

Healthy relationships let both people leave if it ain't working.  But that's easier said than done sometimes and  being scared, financial dependent, getting manipulated (mentally and emotionally), or worrying about the children's well-being makes walking away from an abusive situation hard.  Still and all getting violent or making threats to keep your partner in line is never okay.

Pointing fingers at ladies for savage behavior distracts from the real problem though: living in a culture that says it's fine and dandy to smack around your significant other or control them.
29  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: May 03, 2024, 09:33:21 AM
Anyway, can I use these twenty-four words in any way to help me verify my first BTC addy?

What exactly are you trying to do? If your seed phrase is from a wallet you previously used to stake an address, then yes, you can use that seed phrase again to import the wallet into a new/old device or software and you'll have your old addresses available again. This is exactly the purpose of the backup seed phrase.  What part are you finding confusing?
30  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: SEED storage on digital media. on: May 03, 2024, 08:36:25 AM
Tread is solely  for the discussion of best methods to store SEED on digital media.

I completely support your idea!  Seed storage on digital media is a crucial topic, we definitely need more threads like this on the forum.

Vjerojatno ovisi o zakonskoj regulativi. Pretpostavljam da je zabrana za US tržište.
32  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im polo7 Im back here on: April 28, 2024, 03:02:25 PM
Polo7 you aren't back but you're just evading the ban that you got. I suggest to post a ban appeal thread in Meta board and if your stance is strong then you might get a second chance to post on this forum. If you continue posting from this new account then I fear that you this account may also get banned because it's a ban evading account.

I don't remember password so polo7back my new account.
Maybe i got just temporary ban don't remember exacly but i don't remember my password.

According to BPIP.org, your account was banned four years ago. It was not a temporary ban but a permanent one. You are not allowed to create and use other accounts, except for ban appeal purposes, while at least one of your accounts is banned. It doesn't matter that you forgot your old password.

No, this is stupidity. A simple pyramid scheme. The same is true for those empty BTC units that you people send to each other.

Hahaha!  Sure, buddy, keep telling yourself that.  Bitcoin must cause you heartburn every year, like clockwork.

This was also you. No?

Almost seven years have passed since then. And Bitcoin is still alive and kicking! So, good luck with your Bitcoin doomsday predictions.
34  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto diskusija, teorije i kandidati on: April 28, 2024, 01:20:57 PM

Internet kakav danas poznajemo daje im barem djelimičnu kontrolu. Mogu pratiti tokove informacija, nametati cenzuru, pokušavati pratiti transakcije... Ali potpuno ga ograničiti ili isključiti? To im je mokar san, ali i nerealan.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Application Programming Interface question- Is this possible or BS on: April 24, 2024, 08:57:47 PM
Is this possible or BS?

Most DEXs are built on some form of smart contracts on some specific chain which inherently makes them open source. So, I assume that it is technically possible to create an API that will tap into that smart contract and extract data in real-time.  But, just because it's technically possible doesn't mean it's easy or guaranteed. If this alt coin startup is dodging the question about how they're getting real-time data, it raises red flags. So I wouldn't rule out BS just yet.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Natural selection explains why bitcoin will always rise on: April 24, 2024, 08:47:55 PM
The point is that stock market, for example, does not follow the natural selection laws, because it's not a closed system, but bitcoin do follow natural selection, so bitcoin can eliminate the losers from the system, and this makes the price go up
forever.

Your logic is flawed on so many levels. First off, natural selection has nothing to do with the stock or cryptocurrency markets. It applies to biological evolution, not financial markets. Companies and individuals in the market compete, sure, but they don't magically eliminate losers.

Second, Bitcoin is not a "closed system", anyone can get in and out of "the system" whenever they want. And Bitcoin eliminates "losers" by... what, burning their coins?  No, it definitely doesn't have any built-in social darwinism where it actively kicks out losers or anything crazy like that.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Doesn't higher bitcoin prices more than compensate for reduced block reward? on: April 21, 2024, 08:30:31 AM
How do you figure the value of bitcoin to at least double with every new cycle? No one can predict that.  You make a reasonable point though - the value of the mining reward matters more than the quantity alone and  operating costs like electricity eat up a chunk.  But its not the full picture.  We can't ignore the arms race amongst miners.  With more competition comes greater difficulty securing blocks.  The same gear yields fewer returns over time.  Miners must constantly plunk down capital to stay in the game with better hardware.  So there are other crucial factors at play beyond the reward value.
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why has bitcoin prices not increased just after halving ? on: April 21, 2024, 08:18:40 AM
Other members already made some good points that the price of Bitcoin often doesn't shoot up right after a halving happens.  Sometimes it takes weeks or even months before you notice the price reacting.  The recent jump in mining fees probably isn't directly related to the halving itself either - it is possibly related to the Rune protocol launch.

So while we can't predict exactly whatll happen price-wise in the next few days, the halving could give Bitcoin a boost over the long run.  By cutting the number of new coins out there, it makes existing bitcoins more scarce and  and scarcity can drive up demand according to some economic principles.  Still, you've gotta be real careful about dishing out financial advice to your buddies so you don't end up in awkward spots like this one.

40  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin's 4 year cycle only coincidence? (This could be actually good news.) on: April 14, 2024, 09:36:36 PM
This is interesting analysis! The 4-year cycle theory for Bitcoin's price is definitely a popular one, but I think it's smart to look at other perspectives too.  Just because something held true in the past doesn't mean it'll keep being accurate all the time. I agree that the early days of Bitcoin were pretty rampant and hard to predict, so maybe that activity doesn't perfectly line up with the 4-year cycle timeline we see now.  Plus there's all kinds of stuff like pandemics, hacks, politics that can crash prices even if the cycle theory is real and  could be both things play a role.  The cycles drive overall trends but big external events trigger unpredictable swings.  No one really knows for sure I guess.  We'll just have to wait and see if the cycles hold up over decades or if random chaos and headlines win out in the end.
