The market said bitcoin was in a bubble, the market said the price would drop. You didn't listen, you dismissed us as trolls, the market was right.

The market now says bitcoin is dead, again you argue with us, but we are right again.

Waiting for the production rate to be reduced is the carrot on the stick part to this elaborate scam. Suckers.

25  Economy / Speculation / Re: Great Bidwall on: October 18, 2011, 09:50:07 PM
A long time ago MtGox realized that they only need ~20% of their USD available on any day as that's the maximum amount ever withdrawn in a 24 hour period.

When above the 20% balance across all bank accounts they put up a massive buy order to raise the price.

Higher prices makes more profit. It's not even illegal Smiley
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Old Highs, New lows, what to make of all this action. on: October 18, 2011, 09:46:38 PM
If your core was 5,000,000 individuals owning the current 7,500,000 BTC. Then the next billion adopters are less likely to view Bitcoin as benefitting the BTC rich, at the expense of the BTC poor.

We are the 99%...

I understand the reasons for backing them,  I don't understand the reasons on why anyone can do it profitably.

I'm talking about non-profit organization created for market stability. This organization will accept donations in USD. Every day they will calculate current proportion between amount they have and total amount of BTC and set their price for BTC in USD. They will ensure that they can buy all the bitcoins at this price.

Only somebody as retarded as Atlas would come up with something like this. So hows it going old friend?
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ExchB is closing on: October 17, 2011, 07:48:45 PM
Some powerful people paid these guys a visit. A very one sided NDA has been signed so they can't talk about it for fear of repercussions, now it's my duty to spill the beans.

They got pressured into closing down by the powers that be and more exchanges will be following soon.

Mt.Gox has been able to avoid this so far because they are based in Japan. Plans are in place to get them shut down as well, it's just taking longer than they would like.

I could care less about proof, but can you at least make the story more believable?   A good sound conspiracy theory has at least some reference to some kind of specifics.  Powerful people paid by.. government?  Private person?    What could have possibly been in that NDA?  What was ExchB doing that the others are or were not?

It's not hard to figure out. Think about what ExchB did before any other exchanges, it's not hidden they made a big deal out of it on these very forums. That's why they were targeted first.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what advantages does bitcoin have over the alternative chains? on: October 17, 2011, 06:05:21 PM
A competent development team.

Came to say this.

Bitcoin = Ubuntu
Other-chains = Some new Linux distro some guy just made

And yes I know Ubuntu isn't the best distro at all, especially with regards to security, but it's the mainstream one that 99% of the new linux kiddies use and has a massive user/support base.

It was never worth any of those figures, the drop proves this. I doubt it's even worth even $2 mil atm.

On a more positive note 10k seems like a lot, but when it comes to the internet you could regain all that again overnight. I don't see that happening though unless something major happened such as an electronics company creating some new mobile phone tailored towards payments with Bitcoin pre-installed (most likely alongside other solutions such as Paypal rather than exclusively). Of course it's more likely Paypal would pay that company to be the sole provider on the phone so there is no use waiting for this to happen.
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 17, 2011, 11:25:52 AM
To be honest, scrap all this technical analysis bullshit.

The only graphs that matter are these http://bitcoinstatus.rowit.co.uk/

As more people leave Bitcoin the price will go down. There are exceptions to the rule but we are looking at ~10k connections dropped in the last month and there is no sign of it stopping.
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 16, 2011, 04:51:30 PM
For a significant uptrend to form I think we must see the low of 3.7 hold for at least a week.

So far it seems that anytime the exchange rate stagnates in a relatively narrow range for a long period of time the best bet is that a significant downward movement will be next.  I have absolutely no confidence that 3.7 holding for at least a week will precede the formation of a significant uptrend.  But, hey, I think this project is over for all practical purposes anyway - it doesn't store value well and it's a poor currency.  I would love for things to be otherwise, but it's over guys.

Agree 100% and I take everything Technomage says with a pinch of salt, it wasn't that long ago he was saying it wouldn't go below $9.

Seen it all before, the wave of fanatics that come in claiming it wont go below X price and then 1 month later they spew the same garbage at a lower price. Frankly I think they are worse than the pessimists.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 16, 2011, 03:33:05 PM
Sorry I really do not know much about this technical analysis lark, so please just answer the one question I care about...

How the hell can you predict that people are going to return to Bitcoin? The situation is that we have had a massive influx of people when Bitcoin was in the spotlight, and then they got bored when the price went back down and they all left.

With a "real world" market I can understand that there are trends that repeat, but in this case what you are basically saying is that you predict almost everybody that left Bitcoin for whatever reason will (very soon) decide that they believe in it again and will buy up tons of coins.

My non-technical analysis skills tell me that Bitcoin became a craze for a short while which led to the huge price rise, and just like yoyos, scooters, and pokemon cards, the non-technically analysed trend all these things followed is that the craze wont be hitting again any time soon.

I would have been interested in this, but you have a bad reputation on these forums and I want nothing to do with you.
