21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VGC - VegasCoin on: September 10, 2018, 10:43:44 AM
I only heard the name may also know this project is being developed in the country? A good project for the development of business tourism as well as for businesses. Wish for development projects around the world, not just on the territorial scope of a country.

Where is this development??
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VGC - VegasCoin on: September 03, 2018, 05:25:39 PM
i did that and it hasnt synced anyway

sometimes a wallet gets connected to one or more 'bad' nodes and it interferes with downloading
the correct chain.
one possible thing to try in your config file is to remove all the addnode= lines and add:
  connect=address
rather than addnode=address

connect will cause your wallet/daemon to ONLY connect to the specified address(es) and not connect
to any others. you just need to find nodes you 'trust' and that they will allow incoming connections.
i suppose my node is fairly trustworthy Smiley
  connect=23.233.2.252
you can add other connects too.

once you are synched, edit those connects back to addnode because if those connect nodes become unavailable in the future you wont have any nodes at all.

whenever you edit your config file, you must stop and restart your wallet/daemon.
forgetting this step can waste you a lot of time. (what i really wanted to suggest in the first place, i added the above to seem less glib Smiley )

i had a 24 hour internet outage and just left the miner and everything running until internet was restored... since then my connection count has been sitting at 1 (it was fluctuating between 7 and 11 before the outage). is it wiser in this situation to keep it running as is or should i restart the wallet and the miner (i am solo mining).  this is a theoretical problem, but even though i only have one connection right now, i still think it may be better just to let it keep running as it is (and it should catch up with the network, and start seeing more connections)... this is the first time this has happened to me.

Mining without a connection to the network may cause your wallet to fork and that may prevent it from connecting to other nodes. Try restarting the wallet 1st, then verify if block heights are correct. If not, then you may need to resync wallet. Only start mining when you are sure wallet is synced correctly.

is anyone developing this coin?

The website looks very outdated...

No development for a few years now. Also, no more exchanges.

Windows wallet can be found here:

Others are on page one of this ANN.

LOL my Nova account still shows two pending deposits for VGC that got stuck in the chain.

VGC    2018-06-10 16:50        10000.00000000    Incoming
VGC    2018-06-10 16:50        10000.00000000    Incoming

The dates are wrong as these transactions would have been done in June 2016. They were removed from the transaction list, back in 2016, after I contacted Nova support about the issue with VGC getting stuck in the blockchain. I was testing at the time to see how many, newly mined, VGC I could send without issues. The new owners must have done a rescan of the VGC wallet and the transactions re appeared.

its on nova exchange until the 23rd. theres actually a bunch avail for 1 satoshi right now.

Luckily Nova is adding new assets every week, and apparently they have SAVED assets (that were going to be delisted) BEFORE. So there is a chance we can stay on or get back on later.

Unfortunately, I cannot trade right now, otherwise I would buy all those cheap VGC.

To keep a coin listed at Nova Exchange that is on the de list list, it would need more connected peers, working block explorer, and community involvement. Wallet upgrades would help also. It is possible to save some coins. Contact support@novaexchange.com for information on how to save a coin from being de listed.

Kind of unfair for Nova to delist a coin when deposits for that coin have been disabled for 8 months. That alone could be enough to turn a quiet coin into a dead one. IMHO.

I'll send them an email and see what they say.

----

Here's the reply:

In order to save this coin, we will request
1: working nodes,
2: a link for a working explorer,
3: a bitcointalk announcement about the developer that will take the project on,
4: the main dev "responsible" for this and a contact so we can communicate
5: a small collateral that the chain will be moving for a period of time.

So I'd say #1, #3 and #4 wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure about a block explorer, or collateral...

A working block explorer is very important to keep a coin listed on an exchange. You can get a block explorer at thecryptochat.net $85 per year plus $10 one time set up fee, includes node. I use them for the Bunnycoin explorer.

You have written that your coin is based on Litecoin, but Litecoin, despite its popularity, is already a very old coin. Is there an explanation?

Vegascoin is a very old coin (Feb. 2014) based on Litecoin's code.

What are the main advantages and mission of VegasCoin? What do the bitcoiners think about VegasCoin?

I think Vegascoin is a dead coin with no dev, not much of a community left, and soon to have no exchange to trade on.

Vegascoin is being delisted at Novaexchange.

I live in Europe, frankly I don't understand these restrictions with Usa, however I guess Usa users will use a VPN to register and sign in...

Nova claims that the EU must follow US Laws to allow US users to trade on EU sites. In order to comply with US law, Nova claims, they would need to spend over a million dollars and spend a year to get set up and they cannot do that at this time.

In the USA you need to comply with federal regulations as well as the regulations of 50 different states. This may only get worse as crypto becomes more regulated.

Using a VPN may not work as anonymous users may not be allowed. Currently, Id is required through YOTI with passport identification, to withdraw more than $500 per day.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VGC - VegasCoin on: May 31, 2018, 10:25:35 PM
according with novaexchange news, today they declare that is a matter of 20 days before open subscription for new customers and accept deposits in several assets so... finger crossed

Be aware that users from the USA will not be allowed to use Novaexchange.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VGC - VegasCoin on: May 29, 2018, 12:09:20 PM
any news about novaexchange accepting new users or does anyone know where to exchange VGC?
in this period the coin has a very low difficulty

Nova will start new user registrations after they get all deposits opened. They just enabled BTC, LTC, and DOGE deposits yesterday. Other coin deposits will be at a later date with no time frame given.

this is an interesting project, looking from a road map, which I think is very neat and potentially  to succeed in the future, I'm interested in seeing the progress of this topic, and not a bad idea to invest, can be a successful project

What road map?

Thanks team! I have read the white paper. I think this project is very interesting and I see that  company is commited to the growth and development.

You do know that Arbit was a scam ico right? The dev disappeared long ago but there are some community members that keep coin running. There has not been any development since 2015.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VGC - VegasCoin on: April 05, 2018, 01:16:21 AM
Does this coin trade on any exchanges?  We can not find any stable exchanges for it.

Nova is closing.

Huh?

No exchanges means the coin is dead pretty much.

Nova is no longer closing. Novaexchange was sold to Goobit of Sweden and should be back in a month or two. Many coins could be delisted though.

How does a person register with Nova?

It seems this is not an option...?

Is there any OTHER place that vgc is trading?  If no dev work and the only exchange not accepting registrations, this isnt going well.  Sad

Registrations and deposits are closed until the ownership is transferred. We are hoping for this month but there is no official estimated time for the site to be fully open. Trading and withdrawals are working for most coins but volume is almost non existent.

VGC is only listed at Nova.

Hello Developers, tried to find button to change language on the site, but did not find,  just the question - will you add languages to the site?

There are no developers for Arbit. If you are asking about the site, and not just this ANN, then you are in the wrong forum.
