Intro to OSN
As with many systems that have developed through adaptation over time, the way humanity currently manages scientific research has become outdated. Information is kept in silos where other researchers cannot use it, funding is competitive and filled with bias: as the problems get harder and more complex this system ceases to be effective. With science at the core of civilisation’s progress, the value of an accelerated rate of discovery cannot be overemphasised. Why is this useful in science?If we think about the scientific research process, we can see that, like all other networks, is a set of interactions between participants.The governance model is where the community decides between its members how to organise the process and its incentives. These incentives lead actors to behave in a certain way, for better or worse. Many of the problems that we see in Science today, can be traced back to bad incentive structures. Accessibility for grants, failure to publish negative results, withheld information, centralised control of publications, and so on.All of these interactions can be reprogrammed. With well-defined network rules, we can change the way that we think and work around discovery and open the door for competing systems, that will ultimately help us find the best possible solution.The Open Science Network (OSN) is a distributed research network using blockchain technology for an efficient, open and transparent transmission of information and value and a significant re-aligning of incentives. By applying this distributed technology and paradigm to science, we look to increase the quality and level of interactions between all actors in the scientific network and an evolution of the scientific research, funding, validation and publishing cycle.
 At OSN, our goal is to create the tools that present and future researchers will use. For this, we are using a rapid prototyping principle approach, with work being done in TCR’s for funding and coordination of the research process. We aim to create prototype MVPs from conception to testing in three-month cycles.

This is the reason why we’re going to be shipping many small products with self-contained incentive structures. It is these small and tested crypto ecosystems that will then be used to construct larger and more complex systems.
Transparency will be at the core of the network, following the egalitarian principles of this revolutionary approach to thinking about the internet. Our focus is decentralisation of control, and developing good governance models.
There’s a great talk by Balajis Srinivasan about how changes in network effect are made. You can focus on Voice or Exit. Voice means trying to change a system from within, and Exit is about exiting the existing status quo, and creating a new version. At OSN we’re choosing the latter.Market Size

Having some issues with my wallet.. Can’t start it anymore! What is the best way to fix it? I’m still on the 4.1.0, I believe.. Is that the problem?
Update to 4.1.1 (Always have a backup of wallet.dat) Once you are synced with new wallet. Run a ''repair wallet'' command and you should be fine. |

I unlocked my wallet only for staking, but after i close my computer and turn it on again, my wallet is locked and i need to unlock it again.
Is this normal, or should the wallet be unlocked all the time?

For what it is worth, I did none of that other than closing the old version and I still see my coins.  I wish I could trade my NAV on bittrex though! Still can't  It's not about ''seeing'' the coins but rather being in the right chain. Please make sure you update to 4.1.0 I did update to 4.1.0.  But it was a straight install...no copying files or anything else. Just my experience. If you done it before the fork you are fine mate. |

After updating my NavPi, it always say´s Walletserver not running.
Any Idea´s ?
Also the restart button does´nt work. Only Shut down is working.
And i can find nowere the reindex Button, as discribed in the update guide.

New wallet (v4.1.0) shows "you are staking" with no estimate until next reward - is that correct? I know the timing is a bit hit and miss, but just wondered if this is now normal?
It has been removed since it was never accurate and was a pain in the ass having to explain to noobies how PoS works over and over and over and over. |

 Over the last few days we have been working tirelessly with Bittrex to resolve a network issue which they kindly alerted us to and have been assisting us to fix. I have the same Problem. Since 2 Day´s only Orphane Blocks. Also my NavPi is showing some wrong Balance, but my QT Wallet shows the correct Balance.
Any Idea´s are appreciated.
I should mention that i have a sufficient Balance and that i´m staking since a year. Usually i receive 4-8 Stakes a day.
OK, the stakes are catching up today. Newertheless my NavPi shows the wrong Balance. Any NavPi Pro´s here? Should i just import a new backup of my Wallet? *** Before running a repair wallet, make sure to have a backup. *** Is your balance not correct or did a transaction stay unconfirmed? You might need to repair your wallet so your wallet will rescan the blockchain. Open the Terminal or connect through SSH. Type the following into the console to stop the Nav Coin daemon (the Core Client without the graphical user interface running on the Pi): "./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoin-cli -datadir=/home/stakebox/.navcoin4 stop" and press *enter*. Wait a minute for the daemon to shut down. Type the following to start the daemon again with the parameter to clear all transactions (confirmed and unconfirmed) and scan the blockchain for all confirmed transactions again: "./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoind -zapwallettxes=2 " and press *enter*. Unfortunately there is no support here who answers to my question  I try it the last time  One question: When I download the NavCoin Core 4.0.6 my kaspersky always deletes it: "FOUND: UDS:DANGEROUSOBJECT.MULTI.GENERIC" is that false positive? Just curious.... I keep telling the devs to frequent the place everyone found out about NAV but they insist on going on stupid platforms like slack and now its somewhere else. In answer to your question tho (and I'm NOT a dev) As long as you downloaded it from an official source (Navcoin.org etc.) and not a link on a weird forum, it should be fine. Many others have reported it shows a problem on some virus software but it's absolutely fine. Hope this helps False positive. Sometimes antiviruses take qt wallets as virus. No need to worry about. Bitcointalk is slow. Since we moved to Slack, Telegram and now Discord communication has improved a lot. Ginger, I've been telling you for more than a year to join any of those platforms. At the end of the day it's up to you to be in the loop! |
