21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: November 27, 2015, 06:24:06 AM
Besides not qualifying for the remaining distribution is there a downside to transacting w/V4.0e as I've not had success w/Ver 5.2 on Win7/64 showing assets (the decimal for assets in the dashboard simply flashes and all Assets listings spins endlessly).

4.0e and versions older than 4.0e will be on an own fork after block 515000. We already informed all exchanges to upgrade to the newest horizon version.
This means, if you create a transaction with a version older than v5.2 after block 515000, then this transaction will not be valid for clients >= v5.2.
The transaction is thrown away and your node gets blacklisted. As example it will be not possible for you to send HZ to an exchange after block 515000 with a version less than v5.2.

Could you please try out the public node http://eu3.woll-e.net:7776/index.html ?
Do you still have issues with this version?
I can see assets with my nodes. Sometimes they not show up, but after a reload I see them.

v5.3 will be the next version. Usually I test new versions some days or weeks on mainnet. You have seen one of my nodes which is already running version v5.3.

Thanks MaWo for the explanation and suggestion to try the web wallet which helped me towards a resolution after observing the public node at the above link works like a charm with both Chrome and IE - displaying Assets and even the previously missing forging status/control.

Suspecting I had an incorrect distribution sure enough I found that I had downloaded the first zip in the downloads list "hz-v5.2-node.zip" NOT the standard client install "hz-v5.2.exe" or "hz-v5.2.zip".
https://github.com/NeXTHorizon/hz-source/releases

So, using "hz-v5.2.exe" on one win7/64 machine and "hz-v5.2.zip" on another I now get full client behavior with IE11 on both - reliable asset listings and forging status/control although surprisingly Chrome on both still refuses to list assets where Chrome AND IE work fine on the above reference web wallet.

More surprising is the web wallet on the Horizons site is behaving like my local node when I was running hz-v5.2-node.zip locally, notably the non-functioning forging status/control, so an Hz Admin might want to check the web wallet installation on the HZ site.

Distribution is quickly coming to an end. Make sure to update your nodes and wallet to V 5.2!
https://horizonplatform.io/get-started/wallets/
#fintech #Bitcoin #HZ

This update will force a hard fork at block # 515,000
You will also need to update your nodes by this block to the current version to continue receiving bounties as long as distribution continues.

Beside not qualifying for the remaining distribution is there a downside to transacting w/V4.0e as I've not had success w/Ver 5.2 on Win7/64 showing assets (the decimal for assets in the dashboard simply flashes and all Assets listings spins endlessly).

I also just reconfirmed the behaivor w/v5.2 that I reported in an earlier post and now can see that Forging tries to kick-in when logged-in with passphrase but continues to exhibit the java error shown in my previous posted here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=823785.msg13044883#msg13044883

.. so for me (and presumably 18 of 24 peers, all PC, reported in my client still on V4.0e) V5.2  is a non-starter. I'm wondering if the 5 PC peers on V5.2 and 1 PC peer on V5.3 reported in my client can see assets, and also what v5.3 is about.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: November 23, 2015, 02:36:25 AM
I too am having issues w/Ver5.2 on Win7/64 notably:
1) "My Assets" spins endlessly while returning NO Assets

2) Despite having logged-in successfully the green "Forging" indicator is NOT present and my "JNote: javascript error notifier" keeps reporting:
nrs.js
Uncaught TypeError
NRS.updateForgingStatus is not a function

Fyi - yes, I'm updated to Java Ver8 Build 66

3) With only 2 of 20 peers in my Hz Client reported on Ver 5.2 w/all but 1 of the rest on Ver 4.0e (which has, and continues to be rock-solid) I'm also staying put on Ver 4.0e for now and hopefully the issues will be resolved before the hard fork at 515000 (Thanks Altsheets for the Countdown Reminder)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=823785.msg13004883#msg13004883

Which browser are you using?

I'm using the latest version of Chrome <46.0.2490.86 m> however the behaivor also occurs with IE11 (which I generally don't use for crypto work).
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: November 22, 2015, 03:34:57 PM

2. Transactions are visible, only information like  total amount are flickering, but after some time it is visible

I have similar issue. Everything looks normal but the total amount does not show up on the front page.

Using Chrome on Windows.

I can't see "my assets" and "sell orders". I waited 1 hour but nothing happens. I am using firefox 42.0 and win 7/64.

Same here - web wallet functions well to send/receive HZ, but does not display total balance or asset values on the Dashboard. Firefox 42.0 and OSX 10.10.5.

I've had the same issue from time to time with some of NXT's web wallets if that helps at all.

Bug reproduced, seems to be an issue with firefox 42. Thanks for reporting!
When I open a second tab then the information shows up.

I have tons of those. I don't regard those.

So in a way they like the blocks that never happened and that are like in a way stale blocks etc. oh well just coins sat their worth nadda then maybe something to look into on being able to remove them lol. Wonder whatt causing this then as am sure that is another bug to look at what the cause is and how to resolve it.

Little feature for future to have option to show what transactions you want and have a tick list. Come up with the idea from this so can hid what you don't want to see lol

Hi mate,

This is not an issue but common to all coins pos or pow , this happens when another stake is generated at the same time as the amount in question and someone else stakes at the same time and obtains the stakes to themselves , much like when it happens on pow , when the block orphans when someone else solves it before you. This is how it is and meant to be. Smiley

Warm Regards,
~SoopY~

Ah  you took the words right out me was trying to mean orphaned blocks. Least I know what it is now and can relate it to that. Just couldn't remember the name used when this happens. Now remember exactly one word jump starts a bunch of stuff use to do in past and present lol. Just couldn't think of that magical world lol

Another description I've heard is "phantom" transactions which I recall seeing in another POS thread on how to purge those from Qt (but not bookmarked so I haven't been able to recall the thread). Searching for that solution I found another reference to what I believe I read.
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/16528/how-to-remove-unconfirmed-non-existent-transaction-from-qt-wallet

So, after locking Qt to enable all Tx Confirms to catch-up then backing-up wallet.dat I was all set to try the suggested "-zap..txes" command but found it not available in Debug Help or via the command-line in the OC client therefore presume it's a newer feature of Bitcoin core.

Btw - another time I recall the term "phantom" transactions was after observing in Reddcoin Qt transactions pop-up up from the tool-bar icon but not appear within the wallet so I'm thinking they have some auto-pruning mechanism in their wallet.

AAssetHZ vs AAssetNXT

Quote
... diversify Holdings accross Hz and Nxt. Trying to understand valuations on both sides ...

As this PM might be of general interest, I am answering it here.

The design of both AAssetHZ and AAssetNXT is ... ~ identical.

(The newer) AAssetNXT issuance description:
Quote
AAssetNXT is the 'AltSheets Asset on Nxt'. 5,000,000 AAssetNXT shares are issued, representing 5% of all future profits of AltSheets software (like AltFolio, and assetparser.py - see their bitcointalk threads). Objectives of AAssetNXT are: To develop, improve, and popularize AltSheets software - and to reward investors by sharing 1% of all AltSheets profits per each 1,000,000 AAssetNXT; paid as regular dividends to AAssetNXT holders. Check asset ID and issuer ID (NXT-LJBY-6JQ6-WQV6-HA2AY alias 'AAssetNXTissuer') before trading, there may be copycat assets! More infos at http://altsheets.ddns.net/aassetnxt or twitter @AAssetNXT

(The older) AAssetHZ issuance description:
Quote
AAssetHZ is the first AltSheets Asset on Horizon. 5,000,000 AAssetHZ shares are issued, representing 5% of all future profits of AltSheets software (like AltFolio - the auto-updating altcoin portfolio solution; and assetparser.py - which compares all assets in many observables, and works on two platforms). Objectives of AAssetHZ are: To develop and improve software, to finance marketing to increase sales - and to reward investors by sharing 1% of all profits from the #AltSheets software sales per each 1,000,000 AAssetHZ; paid as regular dividends to AAssetHZ holders. Check asset ID and issuer ID (NHZ-XDWX-VLTM-FUFZ-CTT54) before trading, there may be copycat assets! Buyers please convey an email address for updates. More infos at http://AAssetHZ.ddns.net and twitter @AAssetHZ

(In the newer issuance description ... I left out the wish for an email address, because I changed my mind about it. With my shareholders.py I have created the perfect tool for communicating with shareholders.)

Easiest to understand is perhaps this way:

Each 1 mio assets guarantees you 1 percent of AltSheets profits forever.

(I can decide pay higher dividends sometimes - but 1%/1mio is guaranteed.)

Plus you get exclusive access to the "inner circle" with my newsletters - and sometimes little presents.

Market comparison

AAssetHZ had started much earlier.
It has a larger base of shareholders (35), more trades (118), and transfers (23);
it is known by more people; has passed the HZ team evaluation, and become
a "trusted asset". And there are quite some buy orders.

AAssetNXT became necessary when I entered the NXT sphere of influence,
coding in the nxthacks2015. Many NXT users are not touching other currencies.
Current number of shareholders is 15, there were 9 trades, and 9 transfers.
No bid orders yet - because so far buyers have simply paid my emission price.

As I developed assetgraphs on nxt, AAssetNXT will soon get really nice pictures.

Base currency

In the buy price, though ... those two assets are differing strongly now. Because:

HZ/BTC has taken an unfortunate dump recently - which is hurting me much, because
my early investors' contributions are worth next to nothing currently. Still, I also need
some money for surviving, so I must sell - for a bad price. There is a definite probability
that the HZ price will recover once their distribution is over. But no one knows the future ;-)

NXT/BTC has also been trending downwards, but with much smaller volatility.
Larger market = more stable price.

Last 6 months comparison:
HZ   has moved between    35 and   194 Satoshi (554%)
NXT has moved between 2750 and 6200 Satoshi (225%)

AAsset prices

I started to sell AAssetHZ at 3HZ, to reward the risky early investment, when I was
still unknown. Then each batch has been increasing by 1HZ. In the current batch
there are 171'731 AAssetHZ still available at 7 HZ (the next price will be 8HZ).
7 HZ = 400 Satoshi (at 57 Satoshi/HZ).

As this rising price scheme had seemingly encouraged some people to already take
their profits; they started competing with me by underbidding my emission price ...
... for AAssetNXT, I am trying out a constant price - at least for a first large batch.
0.2 NXT = 700 Satoshi (at 3500 Satoshi/NXT).

You

I hope that is answering it a little bit.
Happy to hear opinions and advice, here or by PM.

Play this simple game:
Close your eyes, imagine me and what I am doing, and ... just feel how much BTC you can contribute now, to participate in the crowdfunding of my current work.
Then open your eyes, and compare the 2 situations, and evaluate which one will probably give you the better deal, short term, and long term. Invest wisely :-)

Sunny greetings
 Smiley

EDIT: Found this announcement just now:
... HORIZON 5.0 IS IMMINENT! ...

My sense is that evaluations of an identical asset on the two platforms should ultimately converge and so the value of diversification boils-down to platform capability and availability. With the Horizon 5.0 elevated capabilities imminent diversification leans more to Platform AND Dev availability so in that regard holding on both platforms is a prudent form of risk-reduction.

Nice to see new wallet out and updates are resolving the sync problems that was going on. I have a problem now. Updated synced. All transaction history is their for me wallet however my balance is showing 0 and on block chain info showing my balance yet wallet on PC is not showing any balance of what I meant to have. Any ideas to resolve? have tried rescan and also re index no joy shows all transaction history in transactions yet no coin in wallet.

If you can't see any coins on your wallet , including your balance , please go to debug on your client and type repairwallet and enter.

That should fix all balance issues.

Any ideas on what is going on here??

Leave your wallet open, even let your wallet stake.

I had a problem of a few missing coins, so I left my wallet open and staking.

My problem resolved itself after a few hours.

I suggest you leave your wallet staking for a whole day.

Your coins are safe, because you saved your wallet.dat, your wallet still contains details of transactions.

I can confirm that this worked for me as well. After 2.0.1 re-synch from scratch, I was 25k coins short even after leaving wallet open overnight. Reapirwallet didn't help, but once I let it stake, it now matches the explorer.

Same here, after synchronizing from scratch (in only 3hrs) I initially encountered long patches of grey "Unconfirmed" Type "Mined" transactions through 2015 however those largely became green "Confirmed" overnight.

Thanks much to everyone that toughed-out this undoubtedly nerve-racking remediation! Grateful to have a healthy, staking OC client back on my desktop!

Upgraded to V3.9.2 on Win7 and hallmarked node promptly detected. Nice!

All looks good however wallet contacts are gone.  Anyway to restore wallet contacts without re-typing them in?

A standalone client capable of one-click updates might do the magic. I don't know if its on the works though.

Googling-around I learned the wallet contacts are buried in the bowels of the browser profile (I didn't realize when my contacts went missing I had used a different Chrome profile to setup the contacts)
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/30443/in-nxt-which-files-store-the-contact-addressbook-data

Although I do like the one-click idea for updating the wallet, sort of like I've been doing with NXT by having the new zip overwrite everything (and now understand the importance of keeping custom configs out of the default config files).

I suggest creating a new thread for the node bounty. I already started to stop looking here again, because there's only about node stuff i fu***** don't care about
Agreed. Getting a tad annoying but then again doesn't seem much else to talk about at the minute.

I would say just leave it as it is, it bumps the thread. Just realize that not everyone runs nodes or can help with it. (Besides, if someone has problems they are going to post wherever they want...)

I consider that create a new thread for the node bounty sound logic because peoples talk about payments all time, maybe it can be affecting a few prices because they  are complaining all time about payments delayed or issues, but otherwise Hz platform work like a charm, and is better talk about it or another stuff. So if anyone have a doubt about payments or nodes it can be kindly redirected by a link.

I agree HZ platform core functionality appears quite solid and while payments to my node have appeared pretty-much like clock-work can imagine the frustration of missed payments. I also agree this ANN thread should be about Hz innovation and functionality and therefore would welcome more interaction in the HZ forums perhaps as altsheets suggested here relative to supporting node bounty issues

I (probably) fixed a bug in the block explorer

a glitch in the block explorer ...

Problem:
When asking the block explorer using accountRS, all balances are zero.
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=account&id=12846730982802002083 --> CURRENT HORIZON BALANCE: 3,310 HZ
but the same account when id given as RS account number is shown as:
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=account&id=NHZ-Q675-SGBG-LQ43-D38L6 --> CURRENT HORIZON BALANCE: 0 HZ

Solved:
This is on my (temporary!) server where I run my block-explorer-fork code:
http://188.226.155.38:8080/hzbe/?page=account&id=12846730982802002083 --> CURRENT HORIZON BALANCE: 3,310 HZ
http://188.226.155.38:8080/hzbe/?page=account&id=NHZ-Q675-SGBG-LQ43-D38L6 --> CURRENT HORIZON BALANCE: 3,310 HZ

Code change suggested in commit: "fixed zero balance bug when accountRS"
https://github.com/altsheets/hz-blockexplorer/commit/e9434d62a52d5fa464f4ef95fbb8931b888befd6

Bug fixed!
You can study my giveback license v04 for how to support useful people like me
or ... TL;DR - simply send me some HZ to: NHZ-Q675-SGBG-LQ43-D38L6  Thanks.

Great catch AltsheetsDev. I was observing that behaivor this morning after reading your interactions on the depleted stakeholder bounty account (where you offered to spin-up another instance of your BAMM service to alert HZ Dev when that Account goes dry which has my vote!).
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=823785.msg11752100#msg11752100

HZ Dev, a couple of related bugs, bordering more on usability, that might be useful to see solved is the accounts search page only working against NHZ Account Number if an Account alias does NOT exist, otherwise Accounts are searchable only by alias. Then when clicking into a found account the search becomes dead-ended (requiring refreshing the Accounts search page).
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=accounts

Hopefully we'll get to see some of AltsheetsDev's useful contributions incorporated into the HZ platform

Thanks Altsheets, your Newstand effort prompted me to revisit my RSS subscriptions adding about 20 active feeds from your list and while doing-so I bubbled-up 20 that I'm watching not on your list captured here to a Google sheet w/Alexa metrics incl. Change, Site and Feed links.

Kudo's to all the outstanding content Creators that help make Cryptocurrency a fascinating arena to follow and participate in.

Wow wow wow.

That is amazing. Surpassing my expectations. Thanks a lot for that.
So easy to merge with my existing table! Cool. Cooperation!

I will include all of them into my next version.
Which might still take some time,
first I wait whoever else is adding to this.

It is actually getting retweeted a bit at the moment:

Nice way of passing on the information.

I have an idea:
* Let's use your sheet for inputting added sites, in a structured way.
* You just have to change the "share" option to "everyone who has the link ... can edit"
* Perhaps add two more columns: "added by (nickname)", and "alexa numbers looked up on (date) ..."

If you agree with that ...

... everyone who wants to add another site,
please input it into the first empty line on:
http://2020.fm/foras

thanks.

My pleasure building on Altsheets' Altcoin Newspaper Stand (A.N.S) idea to round-out my curated collection of News feeds. I know RSS is old-school, but there's something wonderfully empowering in being able to assemble a one-stop feed of aggregated content.

... To view the consolidated list of crypto sites w/alexa metrics and RSS links goto:

Since I'm just cutting my teeth on Google sheets and am not certain of the Sharing implications for now I'll be glad to transcribe any contributions posted to this thread into the /forAS delta sheet for possible inclusion in A.N.S. Thanks!

Rankings (June 19th 2015) from Alexa.com

As you notice, alexa.com is quite an idiosyncratic ranking with many drawbacks, and funny bias.
If you know better or other ways of popularity or quality ranking, please simply extend our table
by adding more numbers from other ranking sites. Also, add more altcoin news sites, of course!
Thanks for helping to make this better.

Thanks Altsheets, your Newstand effort prompted me to revisit my RSS subscriptions adding about 20 active feeds from your list and while doing-so I bubbled-up 20 that I'm watching not on your list captured here to a Google sheet w/Alexa metrics incl. Change, Site and Feed links.

feature request 2:
block explorer page for assets

https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=asset&id=8101260088962758269
--> "could not find template views/templates/asset.phtml"

If you send me an example, I am offering to build that page for you/us/everyone.

e.g. the views/templates/transaction.phtml (?) the file that generates
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=transaction&id=8101260088962758269

The advantage would be that every asset has a page with the most basic information about it.
At the moment there is only the "complete list" https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=assets but with no extra information.

Anyone wants to pledge some crowd bounty for it?

Altsheets, after your previous posting about the asset transaction deficit prompted me to examine the leading NXT explorers (my fav has been https://nxtblocks.info/ which much to my dismay I just learned is shutting-down - announcement on their homepage) it occurred to me that this indeed appears to be a needed extension of the Horizon explorer. Therefore if the community sees fit to crowdfund that I would support it. Thx.

Hi all, the Horizon team have noticed that this thread is being overrun by people complaining of node issues and any new development announcements that we make are quickly lost in a sea of these complaints.

As this thread was supposed to be for the announcement of new developments, I'm proposing that we start a new support thread where people with node issues can post and leave this thread clear for what it's supposed to do.

I'm also very aware that this will lead to inevitable accusations of 'they're trying to censor us' etc... However this is not the case, it's simply so that we can make talk about developments and stay on topic. A support thread will make things much easier for the dev team to follow too.

At no point will node posts be deleted. My suggestion is to move them to a new support thread. Obviously we're not going to do this without the consensus of the community.

What do people think? Yay or nay?

You are definately right. To catch the good developments news you need to dig through a pile of nodeposts first and every day. New visitors won't see them easily.

I guess it will be hard to lead the traffic elsewhere but try.

Also it could help to post a note every day with the latest update messages, pressrelease etc.

As a new participant I say Yay to the idea of a place where the basics can be discussed and catalogued for future reference.

Seems to me the place for that should be the Community forums on the Horizon site however the the traffic over there cannot compare to this BCT thread which is obvious why folks post here. Case-in-point, my beginner post sat unanswered for days in the Community forum but within hours I benefited from the wisdom of Sr. participants posting here.

My sense is Sr. participants want to help and newcomers want an inviting place to get started so perhaps an "Introduce Yourself" and/or "Getting Started" topic in the main forums with oversight of Sr. membership would be helpful to cut down on the beginner noise in the more advanced threads.

I've seen alot about running a hallmark node on linux however I'm going on two days now waiting for my Windows-based node to be seen on the network and I'm now wondering if that's supported.

As posted to the Horizon forum I successfully followed the "how-to setup a node.." video on my Windows 7 Pro workstation with Symantec Endpoint firewall and a rule added to allow Port 7774-TCP inbound.
https://horizonplatform.io/topic/running-horizon-hallmark-node/

If Windows is supported is there any way beyond the Horizon Node Checker to know if my node is visible on the network?
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=nodecheck

Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I'm excited about being an active participant however am not versed in linux.

Do you have a public ip? Do you use UPnP? Could you please send me your IP?

I hadn't considered UPnP as a requirement for this to work and I see "UPnP Discovery" and "SSDP" Blocked in the Symantec Firewall with an option to allow both from private IP addresses. I can PM you my public IP however would like to understand the scope of what workstation service(s) will need to be exposed in order for this to work and if deemed too risky I would consider another adoption to running a hallmark node. Perhaps this is why I'm not reading about Windows hallmark nodes?

UPnP is not required.

The requirements for a public hallmarked node are a public accessible IP, an open port 7774, a hz wallet with a configured hallmark and an activated peer server listen on port 7774.The peer server is already enabled with the default settings.

If your PC is behind a router in a private network then you have to add a NAT rule for port 7774 manually or you enable UPnP.

Thanks MaWo for the explanation. I see in my firewall log at 7:44AM EST the first allowed inbound on port 7774-TCP w/regular inbound thereafter and now see the node checker confirming my node approx 2 days after setting that up.

So I can talk intelligently with my network admin about this could you provide a quick explanation about what the hallmark node actually does? Would that be a similar function as an active bitcoin node, presumeably to share in distribution of blockchain and whatever else a node does? Thanks again for helping me understand this.

Hi I've been following this thread since the summer when I accumulated some btm, watching and thinking of how to get involved and most recently have been trying to follow the mining / slow block confirmation issue. Relatively green to mining and not connecting the dots I tried to send some btm to Polo and to my surprise not one block confirmation has occurred in 29 hrs and am wondering about the prognosis for seeing additional block confirmations in the near future and ultimately securing my btm pending confirmation.  I'm confident the Dev and Community will get to the bottom of this but am wondering if there's a way to get a read on the overall strength of the network to estimate future block confirmations.
