21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 19, 2014, 09:08:41 AM
sorry guys, but this marketplace isn't very impressive to me and I fear it will not boost DCM a lot.
I.E. if you would take the free shopsystem Magento, install it and install the digital currency payment api, you have a beautiful store in a day.

I hope you are not burning budget on a tailormade (or presumed tailormade) webshop, or even the design of it. That would be such a waste of budget.

I advice the devs to request litepaid.com (and other api providers alike) to add DCM as a currency to their Magento/php/woocommerce/opencart api.
Webshops already up and running and using the litepaid.com api can then activate DCM as a payment currency with just 1 click.

That would be a lot smarter and potentially effective than having your own webshop build in my opinion...

I've done eCommerce for years and I have been involved with some Magento implementations and I will go against the grain here and say that Magento is an unwieldy beast if you wish to to do any but the most trivial customizations.

Is it possible that I'm having this much staking not getting confirmed?  I didn't have a single miss before the wallet update.  Now my ratio looks terrible.

Has XBC / DCM been in touch with moolah.io yet?

Yes we have. I'm assuming you're mentioning this w.r.t. the payment API Moolah provides?

Vendor Portal Grid View Design

Our designer has come back to us with the updated design for the grid product list view. Please see the image below for an impression of what we have planned.

Your feedback is, as always, appreciated.

Design is fine, but I suggest you guys put up a mockup of the marketplace webpage, just so folks can see it in action. It doesn't have to work, but anything at all real is always better than screenshots.

We'll do that once we have something that at least sort-of-works; right now we have a PSD design which is working it's way towards becoming HTML.

One question that has been brought up previously but nobody on the dev team replied... how do you guys plan to handle marketplace purchases if the volume for DCM (and XBC too) is low? Limit daily sales, use ipo coin to cover it? Some other way?

We have a number of ideas on this front and our hope is that if the marketplace does what we hope it will do, then the market will be robust enough to bear the incoming DCM coins. Another idea we have is to use the profit generated by the marketplace as buy support, sort of like our own private multipool :-)

Any idea why payouts are disabled on bittrex? We want to pay out miners of the multipool, but bittrex does not allow withdrawls in dCom?!

They might be re-syncing their wallet.

could be, but its blocked already for almost 2 days..
Devs can you check with bittrex please?!

We're in contact with Bittrex and hope/expect things to be fixed soon.

The same aftermath of any coin after a whale has left with his profits.  A ghost shell.

Pretty much, yep. Ghost shells can occasionally recover, sorta, to a certain level, but it's probably not the best thing for the health of a coin.

I don't quite get this rush for anon wallet stuff -- well, beyond hype and devs cashing in/lying, that is. I mean, Dark has been working on theirs for many months, got it working quite some time ago (minus node payments) and we have all the cryptonote flavors too. So unless an anon solution is better than those, I'm not sure of the appeal. Hopefully whatever DCM has planned is more secure than existing solutions. It'd be kind of nice if they released a whitepaper on it.

We believe that our (coming) anon feature is superior to Darks because it won't require masternodes. A whitepaper will be forthcoming once we have implementation details nailed down.

Selective anonymity... hmmm sounds a lot like something I had suggested in a pm.. Glad you all have decided to try to implement it!

We always take feedback into account, even if we're not very vocal about it. We appreciate all the constructive feedback we get.

Wallet Roadmap Released

We've been busy behind the scenes planning our future wallet upgrades. Please see below what we have planned:

  • Anon Functionality: After much research and discussion with technical experts we have identified and selected an anonymity design which we believe is suitable both for security and everyday use as an optional enhancement to our wallet (ie: it will still be possible to use the currently existing, non-anon, transactions). It is our understanding that our chosen design will provide a level of anonymity which will be more difficult to compromise than other existing anon-implementations. Further details will be released as the implementation of said technology matures.
  • Fiat conversion capability: Future versions of the wallet will add a dynamic fiat conversion system to the wallet for some of the major currencies in use (USD, EUR, etc). Such a system will make it possible for casual users to execute transactions like “I want to pay for a USD 499.99 TV" in DCM without having to resort to a calculator, making the use of our coins more practical in everyday life. The exchange rates used will be dynamically retrieved and updated through the use of APIs provided by cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Accounting Extensions: We are planning to add accounting extensions to our wallet in an effort to make the wallet design and usage more appropriate for business use. These extensions will include the capability to define an account hierarchy and to assign transactions to an account as well as initially providing export capabilities to popular accounting software such as Quicken for the USA and Datev for Germany

We hope that our investors can see the benefits of such extensions to the usage scenarios we are aiming for: a cryptocurrency which is accepted by businesses and is suitable for everyday usage.

Bob. You stole about 15k. you're a criminal. Who knows some day the law enforcement will find ya. The Internet never forgets. Everyone is traceable. You're a criminal and will be for the rest of your life. Hope that's worth 15k to you.

Enjoy the holiday.
as long as this shitty team doesn't take any steps in taking legal actions this won't happen. why is it exactly though ? are the team members criminals themselves ?

No, we are not criminals and I resent the implication and your slanderous tone.

If you truly believe that we are a shitty team, sell your DCM and move on. Nobody is forcing you to be here but at least have the decency not to insult us on a personal level.

We have been transparent and have gotten more done in 10 days than many other teams over the lifetime of their projects. However, there are a number of issues here at work which make filing criminal proceedings a difficult and risky proposition; therefore no action has been taken in this direction so far. We are in contact with a legal expert however to determine the feasibility of such action and to enable us to weigh the cost-benefit ratio of any legal proceedings. Realize though that the amount involved precludes us from using small-claims court which in turn means that legal action will be expensive and we don't want to burn another good portion of our IPO funds on legal action if it does not hold a high chance of success.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 11:39:18 PM
I too have given up on chacing pumps.  The only way it can be the slightest bit successful, is if you're watching the market full-time.  It has to be a full time job.  For those of us that have full time jobs outside of crypto, this is near impossible.  I've decided on a few coins to hold for long term without worrying too much about it.

DCM was my higher risk decision.  Yes I'm down (and part of that the loss is pretty substantial), but I will continue to hold.  Not because I like getting beaten up, but because I believe in DCM and the dev team.

I've wondered how people even successfully chase pumps to begin with. Watching the polo trollbox is basically watching people jump from coin to coin, at the slightest bit of volume movement or whatever is 'in' at that very moment. But getting in on a pump after it already started is extremely risky... you have to know when to jump out, or you'll tumble down. Just wondering how people even do that correctly on a consistent basis. I think I'd find it way too stressful and time consuming.

Now, picking a coin before it pumps is another matter, and requires patience. Not that I am necessarily any good at choosing the correct coins pre-pump, but that makes more sense to me than jumping from coin to coin based on the latest fad or in the middle of a pump.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Truth be told, I'm a pretty bad trader. But I'm a good PM and software developer and have lots of real-life experience with eCommerce. Therefore my bet that it's possible to add substantial value to a coin long term by sticking to a real-world usage game plan.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 08:24:22 PM

From their actions so far, my guess is that they can be trusted to do the right thing for the coin for the "long-term" holders. If day traders are selling at a loss, that is a different issue and from the statements issued by the devs it seems that protecting day traders is not their primary focus while protecting investors is (at least I hope so, I'm holding my DCM for the long run).

I do think the devs will protect folks from a catastrophic price drop. And probably whomever gets any dumped coins will benefit longterm.

The thing is, everyone has a different definition of 'catastrophic'. To those who bought in at 20-30K, they are already at catastrophic levels. I think the coin needs to stabilize around 8-12K to be considered somewhat safe from a downward spiral ... maybe it'll get there, but I hope the devs are keeping tabs on the price. If it levels out at 4K or so (outside of dumping), it may just slowly sink from there as investors panic.

You are of course right, catastrophic means different things to different people. If someone bought at 30K, then there's very little we can do to help them right now. That is just the reality of the situation. If someone bought at the IPO and didn't sell any, then their faith in us is appreciated and we still plan/hope to be able to give them a substantial return down the line.

I can only speak for myself but I have given up on chasing pumps; for me (with my time constraints) it's a mission impossible. I do however believe that it's possible to add big value over the long run by executing on good plans. Look at Darkcoin for example; it was lingering for months at low levels with almost no volume and then shot up when they delivered. It's since come down again but it's still way up from what it was during those quiet months. I hope we can do the same with DCM.

We are keeping tabs on the price levels but I think the point AltcoinRambo made is a valid one. If the price goes down too low we'll step in and bring it back up but our focus is on long-term holders, not day traders, so we may let the price dip down to bad levels short term in order to make more efficient use of our buying power. Please also realize that we lost 22BTC with Bob's departure, so while we have funding it's not at the level we originally planned and we need to be smart about the way we use our money.

Mandatory Wallet Upgrade

Due to some statistical issues in our wallet, all DCM holders are required to update to the 1.02 version of our wallet.

Download link (for all platforms): http://dc-altcoin.com/content/downloads.htm

We advise our users that the 1.01 version of the wallet will not work correctly against a network comprised of new wallets.

This wallet fixes some, but not all, of the issues reported by our users. A forthcoming version will fix all reported problems; this future version will be transaction-compatible with version 1.02.

So I downloaded the new wallet.  I am currently stuck on block 15009, and it won't advance.  I've tried restarting my computer multiple times, but it remains on that block.  I will now try to re-download it, to see if that fixes my issue.

After re-downloading the wallet, it still remains on block 15009.  Why am I having this issue now?

Please confirm that you are on version 1.02

definitely on version 1.02

Please see Mindfox's post above this one on how to resolve this issue.

we need setup some bounties for the vote on MP,

lot of ppl on MP do not have DCM, so they do not vote for DCM,

Poloniex would be a much more achievable goal. They have voting now too.

Problem is that you can only vote once on Polo ... if you haven't yet, please vote on Poloniex. We're sort of getting outvoted by the "now-hot" coins but we'll get there in the end.

Your opinions and suggestions are of course appreciated and will be given due consideration.

Design is fine, although I would suggest adding some info on crypto to fiat conversions too, just so people don't have to look that up themselves. Saying a TV costs 1.4 btc, or however DCM, is of course necessary due to the fact they are the coins used, but it's sort of a pain if you don't know the current btc to dollar rate, for instance.

Yes, we already noticed this. There will be minor tweaks to this as we review it, but I think you can assume this to be the basic design we'll use. Thanks for pointing it out though.

I like it but i think we need more short term goals (updated wallet, video, community/forum, complete the bounty, etc).

Those are all on the way. I'm just showing people the larger thing I'm working on to show that progress is being made behind the scenes.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 14, 2014, 01:50:03 PM
As far as the portal preview, I like it.  Would be nice to see two different models of the TV on the page, but I get what you're trying to do, and love the look and ease of being able to choose the currency up at the top of the page as a drop down.  If we do get vendors when this is up and running that sell USEFUL items like TVs and other real world electronics (DVDs, CDs, Blu-Rays, Video Games, laptops, game systems, etc) and even appliances, I think it could be a big deal.  I know I'd spend some crypto to buy items I actually use/need.

Edited to add:  Will the portal have an option to use multiple coins as payment?  For instance if you don't have enough DCM, can you use BTC or XBC, or even a CC to make the full payment?

Well, since this is a just a design, it re-uses the same image, text, etc for each product; this is quite standard for a PSD design. The detail view for a particular product will of course contain several images of the same product which can then be shown in some sort of lightbox popup. I hope I understood your comment correctly here.

As for your question for multiple coins: an interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that yet. After thinking it through, I think that such a mixed-payment feature would complicated the code quite a bit. So no promises on that one, but we'll keep it in mind.

Thanks for your feedback.
