Apparently, I've made the wrong choices in my life, deciding to have a career that I actually enjoy, and it is clear that I am unwelcome here. Good luck to all of you with Darkcoin. It's a solid coin. It's just too bad the community views anyone who is not anti-establishment as somehow lesser than them and unworthy.

Hopefully that can be overcome. If not, this coin will be doomed to a small niche, and forever stuck hovering around .01.

how many people do you put into this "community" of yours.. cause I'm not in it.. and I am in the DRK community.. so..

are you a racist aswell?

People recurrently voicing their political views are also among the most active. This is not surprising, no responsibility, no job, no real-life community involment = plenty of time to publish rants on the internet and desperately beg for some recognition with classic passive-aggressive attitude, but they do not represent the "community" in any way.
Let's stick with DRK.

Option 4:

very nice, but the red and greens are to much in my opinion.
doesn't fit the overall design

maybe combined with this idea ?

Amazing work on all these designs, thank you!!

I second that, I really like the overall design on this new proposal, except the green and red colours, too aggressive. Perhaps you could just keep + and - symbols in the horizontal arrows?

Is changing a masternode IP accepted as a valid workaround for infrequent payments? Or is it more of a troubleshooting "can't hurt to try" sort of thing?
I can only tell you that, like some others around here, I had a 'bad luck' masternode (2 payments in 17 days) and re-built it with new everything (new IP, new address '0', new masternode privkey) and so far it's paying out much better now (2 payments in 2 days). Definitely worth a shot IMO.

same here
radical differences after rebuilding from scratch

I think it's too soon to give an exact release date for RC4, but I can assure you we're all working our asses off to get it done as quick as possible. I'm doing marathon sessions multiple times per week to try to get the new user interface completed in time for RC4 so Darkcoin will not only be stronger, but a LOT sexier!  Wink

I've bitten off quite a lot though, admittedly. The UI overhaul is so extensive I'm having to re-write a brand-new Qt interface from scratch and stitch it together seamlessly with the guts of Darkcoin... that process is still in its early stages, but I expect a great deal of progress to be made by this time next week.

I have in fact been listening to all your suggestions. We intend to give the wallet some customizable options, such as a basic/advanced user option, and the ability to choose which data it displays for you. I also intend to have a couple different themes/skins you can choose from to adjust the colors to your liking. And I will also put some equi-distant vertical separators between tab buttons, as someone suggested.

Thank you! Your support and gratitude is appreciated more than you can imagine!  Smiley

Guys, this is a scam. This should be plainly obvious as he has up'd the ante and has now resorted to spamming us with PMs.

@OP If you really are former military mercenary .. Karma can be a bitch sometimes.

ok seems to be a scam. this quite a shittest way to scam people.
now next time none of us are going to help a man in need because of this scam.

Could or could not be a scam.

However, even he is sincere, still begging randomly to people after he achieved his original objective looks really bad.
I feel sorry for the guy if he is genuine. And sorry for the donators if he is not ;-)

So how much longer do we wait for RC4? Are they going to release it in July?

Late July
Could be delayed however

You need to wait for a prerelease on testnet within the coming days, so we could have a better idea regarding release date

A code review should be unbiased and independent and now drk is being donated to review code? It's like the drug company creating a drug and asking the FDA to approve it by providing some cash to them. Independent code review goes out the window as soon as you donate drk to review code. Because that is what the outside world will see and they will jump on it for the review not being balanced because money and/or drk was donated to have it reviewed. I suggest that the drk that's donated is converted into $ first and then he's paid in $.
You can't turn this donation back now. Think, people..!

I understand your concerns, myself I deal on a routine basis with conflicts of interest as part of my job.

However, we need to evaluate the risk:
  • if the DRK are quickly liquidated, no problem
  • if he holds them, there could be a temptation to withhold potential critical weaknesses- however Kristov is a professional, and his reputation is at stake here + a crash of the price following an exploit would certainly not be good for his investment. I think the motivation factor by implicating him with DRK far outweighs the COI risk.

And in my opinion, the review is not really aimed at PR - open sourcing the code will definitively cover this aspect of reassuring people on the DRK technology.
This review is more to protect the DRK devs and community against an undiscovered massive flaw in the code that could potentially be found by malicious people before or after the code release and critically damage the coin, both operationally and image wise.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: DyslexicZombei's Darkcoin Community MasterNode Services: OPEN! #5 on: July 17, 2014, 09:15:13 AM
With node 1, physically copy wallet.dat to a local comp. Then send exactly 1000 darks to a fresh wallet from the copied wallet.

Yeah, regarding that one. Node 1 re-build attempt was attempted a final time when I wasn't trying to rebuild Node 3's local wallet association. I moved away 1K from this Node 1/2 wallet (that originally had at least 2k) and restarted the node using a different PC. Therefore, the local wallet was now only associated with just one node instead of using a Cold Wallet and a Hot Wallet with different launch conf files to try to connect to 2 nodes.

So, the local wallet was the orig. wallet associated with the Hot Wallet payment. Problem was even with a fresh darkcoin client install and restoring the orig. wallet file, the hot wallet stake payment still looks to go to some accountaddress0 representing a privkey that never released the coins back when I took the RC2 Hot Wallet node down.

I can't regenerate another privkey because we never got our DRK back (45% which was mine) after the hot wallet payment was sent to whereever it is that hot wallet payments hold these funds to register as a masternode.
The coins are always on wallet. They are not used for coin mixing or anything. You can simply copy the wallet.dat to another machine and transfer out. You can do this even on a functioning hot wallet to transfer mined coins out. Hope that helps.

Hello DZ
I'm trying to figure out what is your problem on node 3 as I have a myself some nodes running.
What I can't understand is why you do not reset the whole setup (sending all the funds to a new wallet, regenerating the masternode privkey and reassociating the MN with the cold wallet)

My current setup: all my cold wallets are copied three times in different location on a linux vm - I just need to copy the darkcoin.conf files and wallet.dat corresponding to the node I need to activate into the .darkcoin folder each time. I don't use the qt wallet, and I generated the wallet files using the open sourced darkcoind compiled by myself. I would never use MS Windows to manage my wallets, but that is my personal opinion.
All wallet.dat files have been encrypted using OpenSSL and sent by emails from the vm to 2 inbox.
The vm itself has been fully copied on my ZFS RAIDZ-3 NAS, with monthly backups.

The MN instances are hosted by a reputable third party company remotely .

I can't understand why you struggle so much to have the service up and running, honestly.

Nice wallet. Smiley

If I may, can't we suggest to put all market information on another tab separately from the main information tab?
I personally think it doesn't not give the right message to tie up DRK in such obvious and visible manner to USD (or BTC). It should demoted as 2nd tier information in a specific tab.
But this is just my opinion

Edit: plus it is overwhelming for a peon to see so many numbers and figures on the front page

impressive work,
well done

edit: I had lots of half payments lately however, does your graph represent 100% compliant payouts or just non-zero ones, being 10 or 20%?

it´s too much time until rc4, we´ll see 0,008 for sure before rc4

LoL. You should try holding NxT.

I've been a holder for 6 months now and seen the price cycle through 300% changes about 4 times, with weeks and months between major announcements sometimes. It's like being aircrew where their ears stop feeling the pressure change due to being elasticated from the 6-times-a-day cycles of climb to cruise altitude and descent to landing.

Sometimes you've just got to make up your mind whether you like something or not instead of sitting like a lapdog with its tongue on the floor in front of trading charts. Nothing wrong with doing that in principle (See Giftencounter) but you can't afford to spend much time doing anything else  Wink

Believe me, I've tried to get "interested" in alternative investments in the X--Coin sector. I've been in and out of them all but I believe this to be the most industrial of them by far. The reason the devs don't "babysit" the price is because they're not a bunch of opportunists jumping on a bandwagon, rather have hitherto set the agenda, consistently delivered solid and meaningful innovations and responded effectively to problems all throughout the coin's life so I expect they'll continue to do so.

Words of Wisdom thank you sir

Price is so stable I wouldn't mind if Rc4 doesn't come out until the last day of July, as long as its all working well. No rush.

+1 - I fear that a botched launch would potentially kill DRK for good - it must be 100% smooth on launch day that time.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 13, 2014, 10:22:29 AM
It is true that my recently reseted master nodes are way more efficient than the ones I set-up day one.
My original master nodes, which were perceiving payments since day one, only receive one to two payments within four days.
But the master nodes I had to reset (no payment during the first week) now receive 2 payments per day on average. Sometimes I collect as many as 5 payments per day.
I am now wondering if I should not reset the two first ones as well.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 11, 2014, 02:49:40 PM
People are right about predictions and they are wrong about predictions -- the average of coin101's original poll back in April was $3-$5 at the release of RC2 and the price peaked at $15 in mid May.  Moral of the story, don't bother getting upset at other's predictions and make your own decisions.

Predictions are predictions and nobody should blame people for that however saying that DRK does not depend on BTC shows total disconnection with current reality.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 11, 2014, 02:38:20 PM
DRK/BTC down to < 0.005 at the beginning of September '14

Bookmark and remember to quote this shit in two month's time.

If something like that happens, i do setup 5 more Masternodes...

Don't worry man Smiley

Read this:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/timothylee/2013/04/11/an-illustrated-history-of-bitcoin-crashes/

A ridiculous prediction. Forbes ? Does not change anything.
Already, Darkcoin not dependent to Bitcoin.
Will be a self-contained unit after when widespread fiat exchanges.

That is not a prediction, just an article about another coin. Enjoy it for what it is Smiley

I don't expect DRK to go much lower than now, but nobody can know for sure. This is not the place for the faint of heart and the history of bitcoin crashes shows it (and it doesn't even get to the last ones!). We have already suffered a correction of more than 60%, but if you bought a few months ago you are still in dark black numbers. It all depends on the time frame you consider. Know what you invest in and stop looking at the price every minute.

And saying that dark does not dependent on BTC today is a blatant lie, plus nobody knows what lies in the future - one month ago, everyone voted that DRK will explode in July.
It is tiresome to read unrealistic non backed claims on DRK among those pages, just because invested in it.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 11, 2014, 02:32:31 PM
One of our friends has asked private message:

Quote
Is it even possible to run a masternode on 1 windows PC?

I quess if setup virtualization for binary, it's possible right ?

Ex. Setup linux and darkcoind on Vmware and setup Win QT and assign same IP ?

Possible yes
But if the guy is too lazy to learn Linux to setup one, he won't be in the position  to properly configure it anyway under Windows. Furthermore, 2 systems are now necessary to segregate the main wallet holding the 1000 DRK from the masternode server, which should be exposed to the Internet contrary the cold wallet system - you could manage on one system with VM, but on a security point of views this  looks bad ... In addition he plans on exposing his only machine to Wild Wild West on the internet while hosting the VM ?
