Wonder if anyone has determined the best payout/mining method.  Do you make more mining in a Pool or Solo? Please share your experiences.

Hey guys….just wanted to follow-up on Stratum V2 - is that being developed for any other reason than asicboost or auto-tuning? Braiins OS? What does that pipeline timeline look like?

Anyone care to take a stab at this? @jstefanop?

We are focused on direct solo mining, and expansion of apps included by default in the FutureBit OS right now (block explores, LND, wallets etc). Well probably work on startum v2 stuff after these are launched.

Thank you Futurebit for delivering what you promised.

Cant wait to see what developments are in the works!

And thank you for supporting us which is allowing us to deliver what we promised!

Can you please give an ETA?  I love my Apollo

Edit: I think my brother figured it out, DMZ was enabled and the FutureBit was the only thing on that list, maybe that's how they're getting in?

Assuming you have a consumer-grade router with DMZ enabled, your Apollo was likely compromised in seconds than minutes!
Never ever put any device in such a DMZ without knowing what you are doing. (Such consumer-grade DMZs have most likely every port open - from SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, every port from 0 to 65535 ...)

So, it seems your brother figured it out! Good! Remove Apollo from DMZ and back in the LAN where it should belong firsthand.

Reset the Apollo to factory defaults and start hashing without any more disturbance.

how to reset to factory defaults ??

Wazzzzz up.... Grin Grin...now I know that we like to come on here and post questions and queries when we run into an issue with the miners and hey it is ok for I have posted a question on here at times myself...but indeed reach out also with your question to the support desk or team at Futurebit itself...it is why I was instructed to do at one time and they did respond to me... that email link addy as to where to write to them is... order@futurebit.io ...so indeed just post the question you do here on the forum to the email addy for them I just posted and well then wait for a response and well keep checking on here just in case as well...Ok folks I am outta here for a minute again...have to corral them chickens...hehehehe... Wink ...Dr. J my man hope you and the crew are doing well and that things are churning along... Wink...Laterrrssss... Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin Cool

P.S.   Oh by the way...Dr. J or anyone there at Futurebit...did any of you find or have the temperature numbers for the Futurebit miners...meaning at different settings in the configuration of the miner what are the temp ranges...so that well the users can just keep an eye out for the temps on the miners and that way no one damages their miner by accident you know...ok someone there hit us up on them numbers...thanks

Fan controller automatically regulates temps within 60-70c which is normal operating range for all modes. In hotter environments/custom settings/turbo mode etc it can get to over 70c, but the chips are designed to operate at 80c continuously. Would not get worried unless you see temps above 80c.

Awesome news.  I was wondering that myself. With an external fan under the Apollo, I never see over 60*.....

Has anyone know of a working package for RDP or Teamviewer for the Full node unit ?

Something like TightVNC should work

Won't installing it to the Miner/node break the system?
26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: February 28, 2022, 03:18:31 PM
The node finally finished syncing last night.

When I came to check on the machine this morning, it was no longer showing the USB device as connected. Couple of questions:

1) Is there a command I can use to force the device to reconnect?

2) Are there logs somewhere that can help me identify what's going on?

What USB device? Flash card or mouse/key board?

The web dashboard still shows that the miners are inactive: everything is showing zeroes, even after I refresh the screen.
Tried full reboot? Dashboard can be dodgy at times. Reboot is often easier than manually digging for services to restart, because obviously it restarts everything. Cheesy

I bet you changed the time zone on the OS. @thak777

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Miner kept running fine according to slushpool, but all stats were empty.

Preformed a system reboot and everything has been problem free since then.

What does changing the time zone do? What time zone is it suppose to be set too?
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: February 26, 2022, 01:46:21 AM
I'm not experiencing any issues with usernames being changed.  I've also never seen the dashboard (don't even know how to access it to be honest).
Wait, then how did you set your mining pool information?
And how did you choose between 'eco', 'balanced' or 'turbo'?

You can choose between the different settings using a .bat file to start the miner (I pasted it in my post) with the necessary settings.  You can set it to whatever you want, not just the 3 options (although I wouldn't play around with those settings too much) and also setup a restart (as shown in my post) so that if it crashes it will automatically start mining again.  I use the interface at slush pool to make sure everything is running as it should.

Looks like your running a standard unit, so there is no dashboard for that since you run the miner software directly on your system

Yup, just a couple of standard units running off of a PC.  That would explain why no dashboard for me.

How do you and where do you make those changes?

1) Is it possible to use the in screen keyboard option at the Apollo os login screen? I don't have a keyboard I can leave permanently hooked up to the Apollo unit, it would be much more convenient if I could use the mouse to pick the password letters using an on-screen keyboard.

2) Also, has anybody set up a VPN on the Apollo unit? I'm thinking about using my free windscribe account (50gb/mo) but weary of breaking anything custom setup for the miner/node to work.

Thanks!

I use my dVPN  from Deeper Network just fine

Is that only a hardware solution or do they have a downloadable as well?

Are these results in line with what others are getting?

And if anyone is looking to upgrade their SSD to 2TB...  https://slickdeals.net/f/15619948-2tb-samsung-970-evo-plus-ssd-200-free-s-h-at-amazon

That is average in returns for one unit

My Apollo BTC is up and has been mining, node is fully synced and running. However, I am getting the message "Only inbound connections detected, please enable port 8333 on your router port forwarding rules for your Apollo IP address" and it shows 10/32 connections.

I have set up forwards for port 8333 on both my security gateway and FiOS router. I had to set up a similar port forward for my Helium miner, so I know that the settings should work, but it does not appear to be working for the node.

Is there something easy I could be missing here?

You can only have one port forward for 8333, if you have set that port up to forward to this helium thing whatever it is then you can't have one setup for the same port going to the Apollo.

I have a FiOS router first in line, and the port forward is set up in there to forward to my Ubiquiti USG Security Gateway. In the USG setup, I have the node set with a static IP and a port forward set up for that IP address.

My Helium miner settings are similar, but pointing to a different IP address and port.

I can use an external port checking tool such as portchecker.io and my Helium miner responds on the appropriate port, but the node does not.

Just not sure why this setup should need to be different in the case of the node vs. the Helium miner.

Try a different pool.  Mine has been up and running for 2 weeks now, no issues.

By any chance do you guys know if I can have 2 Full Apollo running together ? I mean I have one already, but can I attach the second one to the running one without the power supply ?

Thanks

Yes but only one node can run

I'm absolutely clueless on why my miner will mine flawlessly for days, then I'll have days where it disconnects 100+ times, what's going on?

Also, every single time it disconnects it changes my pool to - stratum+tcp://stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.slushpool.com:3333 and the username to Topminer.01 with a password of X

It almost seems like my miner is compromised because it makes no sense on why it reverts to some random slushpool account, I've tried to mine on over 10 different pools and it'll mine great for 1-3 days then I'll experience the same exact thing where it just stops mining, changes the pool back to slushpool and restarts itself.. It DOES connect to this slushpool and it hashes.. but I can't login to the slushpool website and find that Topminer.01 at all, it seems like someone is stealing my hashes.

Sounds like your network or another device on your network is compromised. I would try reflashing your SD card to stock, if you still see it happening then someone is gaining access to your Apollo through another device on your network.

You can also change the default account/ssh password on your Apollo as well using the UI settings (we will have the dashboard password apply as the system password automaticly for additional security in the next update).

I have been having the same issue.  I'm going to try and reflash. and see what happens.

Also had the same issue. I have just placed the Apollo over 2 big fans and the temp in turbo is around 40-42C and the board stays at 62-63C, big difference from before. Tha hash rate is also aroun 3.07Gb. It seems to be stable for now so I think the temperature is the issue.

External USB fans under the Apollo is the way to go! My temps arethe same range as yours in turbo mode.

Correct. I suspected the temp as the issue but I wasn't 100%, I will see in a couple of days I guess....

Mine has been running with the fan under it for two weeks, Apollo on Turbo no stop.

So good news is that I was able to get my BITCOIN NODE connected to my Ledger Live account.  It was a little tedious, but I got it figured out.  Wish me luck that it stays connected and up and running.

Next task is that I need to set up my LIGHTNING NETWORK. I think that I am going to try C-Lightning.  From what I have found, this seem to be the best choice.  (Any help on this would be greatly appreciated).

what's the benefit of connecting your node to your ledger?  just curious.

All bitcoin transactions go from your node to you wallet and do not pass through LEDGER SERVERS

Hello, trying to connect futurebit BTC full node to my sparrow wallet, using Putty for SSH connection, reconfigure bitcoin.config for RPC , but when I enter “cd/opt/apolloapi/backend/node .” It says no file exist or directory.. and guidance on how I should proceed.  Node and computer are set up on same network, node and miner is running with 30 node connections.. please advise

Are you trying it from an another PC on the same network?

Can someone please explain to me "What are hardware errors?" "What is the rejected?" "How do we fix/correct these issues?"

Is it normal to be in the RED for memory at around 3GB while mining in Balanced mode and BTC node running ??

Yes especially if the node is still syncing. This will nearly max out mem/cpu until its complete, nothing to worry about though as it also uses fast system swap memory on the SSD as well.

FYI Bitcoin Mag put out a cool article/getting started on the Apollo (setup instructions are even better than mine haha). Check it out!

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/guides/how-to-use-futurebit-apollo-bitcoin-node-miner

Thank you, thank you....  I was able to use this article to gain access to NODE via SSH.  My LEDGER LIVE is the problem now (I Believe); having issues with accounts syncing with NODE.

Hello! I bought 2 Full editions. I opened one and everything is running smooth. I would just like to know from someone with more experience, a realistic Daily/Weekly profit margin running on regular mode at 2TH. I dont think or see that what I have on my "Rewards" so far is realistic to call it that way and not too low.

Thanks

There is no way to to realistically estimate this. Everything depends on how "lucky" the pool gets. In Turbo mode on Slush Pool I'm seeing about 0.00000170 (plus or  minus a couple) BTC per block found. Figure about 1/3 less for your setting. Today so far Slush Pool has found 5 blocks, a few days ago it found 13 in one day. My last daily reward was 0.00001433 BTC.

Profit margin will, of course, depend on your cost of electricity and to a lesser extent internet bandwidth.

And... you don't really need 2 full packages. One "Full Package" can run 2 (maybe more?) "standard" units.

Good Luck!

I am using ViaBTC POOL TO MINE. I am also running in turbo mode with an average of 3 T/H.  My daily return is .00001320 BTC (every 24hrs).  Also I am merge mining there, so I get tokens from 5 others.

Mine started mining right away and had no issues during the ~3 days it took to fully sync the blockchain.

After my NODE had synced, I changed the mining to turbo.  I have an external fan that the Apollo sits on and keeps the temps around 46*-60*. The hash rate on the pool is an average of 3.1 TH
