GREED - the human nature

miner owner wants the cheapest data center, willing to pay only the getto make shift data center on $10,000 equipment. ASIC miners made in china are known with high hardware failure rate. It is developmental device status and level. ASIC miner is known to be unstable or very sensitive to the environmental changes and it can freeze or may need physical power cycle or some technician's troubleshooting time. When a profit margin per 1 device is about $20-30 usd per month, but receive 5 email requests to reboot the equipment, 3 emails requesting hosting fee adjustment just because the equipment was frozen and not producing hash rate, consume 1 hour of technician's physical labor of dismantling the device and troubleshooting. When 1 device goes offline for 30 minutes, you receive SCAM report online, receive negative complain at BBB and your corporate administrative staffs spend hours communicate with BBB to avoid lower rating to be shown on google search. When BTC price is rising, your data center is near full and require more staffs. Your technician's salary is over $20 per hour, remote customer support agent is $10 per hour. There is not much or no profit margin left.

vs

publicly traded companies offering to buy out your entire hosting capacity with none disclosure agreement that generate 0 public online negative complain when 200 equipment under performing with 2/3 hash card operating, 30 dead equipment exist any given days. You can have a few technicians, only 1 administrative assistance who communicate with the public company to have daily update or small chitchat and the minimum electricity load the data center require to keep consuming 24 hours a day be automatically met. Some big companies are paying short term $50-70 profit margin per equipment to be powered on immediately as well as one time bonus of $100+ usd to get the equipment to be online in a few days of notice.

data center also must have minor improvement to accept newer generation, but the data center can not bill customers for the improvement cost, however, terminating the existing customer and accept new big customers who are willing to pay full facility improvement expenses. To build or expand data center is expensive. Data Center will naturally select customer who will pay for the improvement upfront upon signing up for the service.

If you are the data center boss, what would you pick?

when something goes wrong, sadly it can be super catastrophic Roll Eyes
highly suggest to use mechanical system to lift the equipment in-out of the liquid and watch your thermostat like a hawk. Inspect item and rehears physical effect on some of the components in mid to long term effect. Do not pinch penny as you may experience $1 loss Grin

great technology to use and super stable with S17 and T17, however, it can turn your millions to a dream of the past  Shocked
23  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 22, 2021, 04:18:16 PM
I speculate semi-china to be a short term temporary things. China man will find a way to power them on  Cry  I speculate several new EH in transit as we speak Wink  Happy Mining Grin

Daily rolling blackout at the mining data centers in a few countries makes it fun to estimate hash rate growth. It is hidden in the plain sight. Can be a big suprise to everyone when many of these rolling blackout end the same time or in the similar period as it can jump the hash rate at higher percentage.
24  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is Blokforge still legit? on: November 21, 2021, 09:58:02 PM
more reason to buy directly from Bitmain or seller who has miners in stock. Tongue Will be a surprise if you received a true never opened brand new equipment.

November 18th update:

Two packages were shipped today from Autoline Industries in Mesa, Az.  Expected delivery is the 22nd.  Per Fed Ex, the PO number matches my September 5th order, and each box weighs 32lbs, so it appears miners are being sent.  Which models I'm clueless about - my order on BlokForge is still showing as "Pending (Backordered)" per their website.

I have NOT been advised by Blokforge (or is it Autoline Industries?) about this.

Will keep everyone posted.

Got an e-mail last night titled "You BLOKFORGE order is now complete".  Apparently they shipped the original (2) S19 Pro 110s... but I'll believe they are new units when I get them.  I've lost over 2 months of mining time during a peak profit cycle... have to wonder if somebody else was using them.  Is it really a coincidence that they shipped shortly after Bitcoin retreated?
25  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Satoshi's 1 Million Bitcoins Legal Court Case Kleiman vs Craig Wright questions on: November 21, 2021, 09:47:53 PM
Mr Craig wins when Ms. Ira win 50% of Mr Craig's claimed coin.

Hope the very little equipment is shipping but reality seem the other way. Many new generation miners went offline unexpectedly is my speculation. More will come online in next few weeks.  More secondhand equipment is in transit to south america and to the land of freedom USA but they are stuck in shipping lane or floating just outside of Long Beach port in the ocean. I wish  philipma1957 is correct on the very litle equipment Cry
27  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain S19XP, 140TH @ 21.5W/TH on: November 21, 2021, 08:21:37 AM
Interesting Shocked  Big public companies are mining. Money does not matter may be. Stock Play can cancel out the loss if future S19xp lose value when it ship. More interesting to see these public companies spending near $1,000,000 per 1 Mega Watt building the futuristic data centers while make shift low electric price data center canceling low paying existing customers but filling up with high paying customers. Data centers realized they need more money from the customers to support their up keeping of the infrastructure or it is not sustainable.  The Chicken and Egg show. If keep the data center with old day setup, new generation equipment will not work well, but to upgrade to perform well with new generation, it will cost few times more money than old generation equipment days.  Easier to let go existing customers and sign up new customers with new generation hardware and the higher more realistic cost based data center fee to enter new era of bitcoin mining drama

somewhere I remember seeing Satoshi said if anything that kills bitcoin, it be the greed. If technology needs money to innovate, hope the responsible community invest proper amount into the project, not pay the lowest and build it on shaky foundation base to only collapse later on like Florida apartment
28  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Satoshi's 1 Million Bitcoins Legal Court Case Kleiman vs Craig Wright questions on: November 21, 2021, 07:17:36 AM
may be he is not satoshi but may be a part of the satoshi group. who knows but money can change people more often than NOT Cry constant b-rating and personal attacks targeted to a person can also change that person.

Craig is doing this to get the honorable to award the half to David. Think he just wants more third-party validation that he is not satoshi

Antient Greeks were smart or had amazing discovery yet, if you screamed that the earth was NOT round, you were thrown away as a castaway or seen as crazy. R.I.P. Pythagoras and Aristotle

lets see how the outcome be. Lets hope Mr Craig doesn't do things similar to Mr Mcafee.  Some People around real Satoshi seem to go to the other side of the rainbow too soon Cry
29  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 21, 2021, 06:44:11 AM
I 'speculate' that at least 15EH coming on line would be miners that were switched off.
i.e. at least 15EH of miners moved and back online in 4 months.  I speculated hash rate be back to near 'normal' by end of the year and it is on track Cry

so called chip shortage, the traditional mamos shops known to carry near 0 inhouse inventory who did not strategically preorder them from the foundry are facing difficult time with chips and those are bigger nm chips and not 5nm and 7nm. I think the greedy-smart Grin crypto chip designers probably had a lot of wafer and components started to preload pre-covid shock era in early 2020.  World's electrical infra structure is very limited outside of china to power on older equipment to reach today's high hash rate but rather the majority is new generation equipment and it is causing this rapid hash rate clime.

This year, kicking out older generation equipment more so as well as kicking out old-day super cheap electricity fee customers throughout the year and new equipment was replacing them. I 'speculate' more displaced equipment outside china also to exist in larger volume.

I speculate many expensive new equipment will break this winter. God Bless the Sun and Hope for the warmer winter Wink

I 'speculate' about 50EH+ worth of older generation equipment waiting to drink the yummy electricity but many will not ever see the yummy jolty electricity unless Bitcoin price exceed 60.000 and remain there or continue to rise, then 50EH+ can come back to live but I 'speculate' that to be a sweat dream only happens while day dreaming.

wander if an honorable judge will declarer who Satoshi is in the near future
30  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AntGuardian - 100% LIBRE Free Software Watchdog for all Bitmain AntMiners on: November 21, 2021, 06:03:36 AM
Great Spirit Cheesy  Wander, any unicorn mining farm's CTOs are professional enough to say, I did not code this but lets use this. Wander how many techs from the unicorn farms kiss the boss' butt and making them believe the enterprise is not so successful without the self written buggy tools. Wander if boss sees value in open source code.

FREE Open Source Antminer monitor and restart tool
For all of us reluctant to run proprietary software anywhare near our miners, let alone controlling them. Now we have an alternative!

Happy mining!
31  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think that Bitcoin is more worth buying than the ASICs? on: November 20, 2021, 11:48:00 PM
I define good supplier as they do not SPAM Grin

How do you define whether a supplier is legit?

Thanks

sad news. This seems to be common occurring now days Cry

Hope you had a good cheap hosting with the NY company so you have already earned handsomely
